Tanjong Pagar—also known as Korea Town in Singapore—has no lack of Korean restaurants and you may be lost on where to start.

But if you are looking at an all-you-can-eat buffet option for K-BBQ, then Sin Manbok is one to go to. At S$29++per pax, you get unlimited portions of meat, two pieces of Korean fried chicken (for each diner) in your preferred flavour, a Korean stew to share, a side of tteokbokki and ramyeon, and another side of Korean pancake. Do note that the buffet option is only available during lunch.

At just S$29++ per person for lunch, you get quite a spread and despite the portions being relatively small, we were actually very stuffed from eating a bit of everything that is included in the buffet.

For the lunch buffet, you get unlimited portions of meat, two pieces of Korean fried chicken in your preferred flavour, a stew to share, a side of tteokbokki and ramyeon, and another side of Korean pancake. What did we say about being full from eating a bit of everything?

On the unlimited meat menu, there are marinated chicken, beef brisket, sliced pork belly and marinated pork short ribs.

Out of the four meat options, our favourite was the thinly sliced 2mm Pork Belly.

Each diner gets 2 pieces of Korean fried chicken and you can choose from seasoned chicken, soy chicken, fried chicken or a mixture of seasoned and soy chicken.

The restaurant will portion the stew according to the number of diners. We had the Kimchi Jjigae and it was full of flavours and very addictive.

Stir-fried tteokbokki with ramyeon.

Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ along Kreta Ayer Road offers a Korean BBQ buffet with unlimited meats, sides and steamed eggs at only S$27.90++/pax on weekdays.

What we love most about Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ is that the Korean restaurant uses charcoal grill instead of the usual gasoline grill. That sure makes a lot of difference to our meats!

This small outlet is just like any usual Korean BBQ place—round communal tables that are surrounded by kimchi and side dishes (free flow), all your sauces and chilli, and loud Korean pop songs on repeat mode. They use beef and pork belly from USA and Australia, as well as chicken that is sourced locally.

Don Dae Bak’s Korean BBQ Buffet includes:

Beef Bulogi

Beef Brisket

Pork Belly

Spicy Pork Belly

Shoulder Loin

Marinated Shoulder Loin

Marinated Chicken

Spicy Marinated Chicken

Korean sides

Steamed eggs

Other than the meats, the Korean BBQ buffet also comes with six free-flow Korean sides and unlimited steamed eggs.

The cherry on top is the pocket around the grill, where egg custard is poured and steamed egg is made. It is so simple, yet nothing short of comforting; just like the great Korean BBQ meals we’ve had in Seoul, though more often than not, steamed egg is a free dish they offer to diners.

Known for serving affordable and authentic Korean dishes, Ajumma’s Korean Restaurant has closed down its original outlet at The Cathay recently and it has officially opened its new location at Bukit Panjang Plaza on 21 Dec 2021.

Ajumma’s is a casual Korean eatery where you can get Korea homestyle cooking minus the frills (and service charge).

Most of the dishes on Ajumma’s menu are affordably priced under S$10 and they include options such as Chicken Bulgogi, Bibimbap, Spicy Ramyeon, and House-Smoked Mackerel.

The Beef Bulgogi (S$10.50) set comes with plump white rice and an assortment of small side dishes. The marinated grilled beef was juicy and savoury, best eaten with rice to balance the saltiness.

The Kimchi Ramyeon (S$8.90+) has a generous portion of noodles, meat, tofu and vegetables.

The opening of Ajumma’s Korean Restaurant at Bukit Panjang Plaza is definitely great news for those who are staying in the west of Singapore.

Bored or hungry while you’re cooped up at home during this period?
Honey Night is a Korean bar and bistro where you can get refreshing drinks on a hot day, Korean street snacks and mains to satisfy your hunger pangs. It is conveniently located in Grandlink Square, just walking distance from Paya Lebar MRT.

Gulp down a somaek tower, bite on chewy spicy rice cakes and indulge in hearty soups, while bobbing and singing along to K-pop hits. You don’t have to fly to Korea for that ahjumma’s kimchi stew anymore because you’re in for a treat at Honey Night with their authentic tasting Korean food fare!

We had the Deep Fried Boneless Chicken (S$13 for 3pcs). It was tender and the seasoning was kept to a minimum which brought out the fragrance of the meat itself. However, the batter was a little too thick, causing some mush underneath but still crunchy on the outside.

A thinner batter that was coated more evenly would’ve been better, but the sweet and spicy sauce that came along with it tasted oh-so-good with the chicken! Have it with a piece or two of the seasoned radish and you’ll overlook the flaws of the batter.

A must-order at every Korean restaurant, the Kimchi Stew (S$12) here was pretty well done – with just the right amount of spice with robust flavours of kimchi that warms your heart, especially on a rainy day.

Flavours were 10/10, and it was as authentic as it can get. Brownie points for the generous ingredients in the soup, including tofu, glass noodles, pork belly, kimchi and onions! You know a Korean restaurant is good if they can do kimchi stews well because it is a simple dish that is hard to perfect.

The Beef Bulgogi Set Meal (S$13) is a crowd favourite! It came with a bowl of short grain rice, seaweed soup and kimchi. Can we just say that the seaweed soup was one of the best seaweed soups we’ve had because normally seaweed soup tastes bland and smells of the sea, but this was so light yet flavourful and helps to cleanse your palette.

The beef was sweet, infused with natural flavours of the onions and is a match made in heaven with short grain rice. We enjoyed it but we felt that this dish would have been perfect if the beef was slightly more tender, maybe with a fattier part and had some sweet potato noodles added in just like those you can get in Korea.

Honey Night is a hidden gem in the Paya Lebar area and the prices are slightly lower than other Korean restaurants.

More than just another Korean restaurant dishing out your typical Korean stews, fried chicken and soju, NY Night Market impresses with its unique, over-the-top renditions of popular Korean delicacies. No, this is far more than just another joint for you to drown out your post-Seoul vacation blues.

Hailing from Seoul, this restaurant brings to Singapore a taste of new-age, contemporary cuisine fusing the best of both Western and Korean influences. Imagine this: the vibrant cuisine of cosmopolitan New York City intermingling with the nuanced, hearty flavours of Korea. The result? A smorgasbord of mouthwatering delights that are just too decadent to handle—on your own at least. Nearly everything on the menu comes laden with melted cheese, cream or bacon which is never a bad idea—unless you’re dieting.

There are so many items to choose from, each with its own unique quirks and delicious appeal, but if we had to pick a favourite, we’d easily go for their M.A.C Feat Bacon (a twist on the classic mac & cheese) as well as their unique take on a Korean classic, Budaejjigae—a dish that sees a heaping mound of bulgogi beef and a jumbo pork sausage on top of the usual trimmings.

We hope you brought along your appetite because NY Night Market is anything but light, what you can expect is a full-on feast of next-level fusion food—one that perfectly fuses the best of Korean comfort food and New York City-style attitude.

From 21 March to 10 April 2019, our readers can quote “ladyironchef” to enjoy the following discounts at NY Night Market:

Get S$10 off with min S$50 spent
Get S$20 off with min S$100 spent
Get S$30 off with min S$150 spent

WATERFALL CHEESE SHRIMP

If you love the crunchy texture of fresh shrimp, as well as the idea of warm, savoury liquified cheese, doused over its sweet flesh then their Waterfall Cheese Shrimp (S$14.90++) will work up to be quite the treat.

The shrimps are first grilled along with a combination of herbs, vegetables and simple seasonings before being covered with a generous pour of melted cheese. The cheese sauce here is a combination of mozzarella and emmental—which is mildly sharp, buttery, slightly nutty but more importantly, stretchy enough to give you a satisfying cheese pull.

CREAM THE CURRY FEAT. TOPPOKI

A dish that packs serious heat and comes with a rather intimidating surprise is their Cream The Curry (S$14.90++). The dish arrives looking rather uninspiring at first, but not until a heaping mound of whipped cream is layered over it. Dig in through the layer of cloud-like cream to reveal a layer of chewy Korean rice cakes swimming in a lip-smacking red curry along with a handful of softened bell peppers.

Spicy, sweet and creamy all in one mouthful, this velvety smooth mammoth of a dish is given a sprinkling of curry powder as a finishing touch. Warm, savoury and oozing with a milky richness, this dish is one that really grows on you.

WATERFALL CHEESE STEAK

If you’ve never experienced a proper cheese raclette meal before, you haven’t missed out on much and we’re willing to go as far as to say that their Waterfall Cheese Steak (S$15.90++) is heaps better than the posh Swiss delicacy.

Certainly gimmicky, the dish sees chunks of sautéed beef on a hot plate loaded with sweet cherry tomatoes, broccoli coated in barbecue sauce before a cascade of cheese sauce is poured over top. Beyond the drama aspect of it, the dish was actually pretty good. The beef cubes were soft, tender and juicy and the cheese sauce complemented the sweet barbecue sauce well.

YOU’RE BACON ME HUNGRY

Korean sandwiches have been the fad as of late, but trust NY Night Market to do more than just serve up everyday sandwiches. Available from 8am to 6pm daily at NY Night Market’s 313 Somerset outlet only, tuck into a wide variety of sandwich options spanning the humble Bulgogi Babe (S$7.90++) to the bacon and cheese loaded You’re Bacon Me Hungry (S$7.90++).

More than your everyday bacon sandwich, their version is essentially a big breakfast compressed between two slices of toasted brioche, the contents of which see generous strips of fried bacon, scrambled eggs, hash brown, cheese, shredded cabbage, their house-made jam and tartar sauce. For lack of a better word, it was divine. It has everything you’d want in a sandwich from the fried, greasy components to the sweet, savoury and tangy profiles that make it incredibly addictive.

M.A.C FEAT BACON

What’s a cheese-forward menu without a section dedicated to the comfort food classic, Mac & Cheese? Here they have 3 varieties for you to choose from but we opted for the M.A.C feat Bacon (S$11.90++).

Enhanced with lashings of potato and bacon bits, the dish had a nice, smooth texture underscored by a rich, smoky and savoury flavour. Cheesy and all in all satisfying, this is one dish we wouldn’t mind stuffing ourselves with as we binge on Netflix.

BEEF LEEK PIZZA

The Beef Leek Pizza (S$15.90++) is a treat for meat lovers. Think thin slices of medium-rare steak neatly laid over a crispy tortilla sheet brushed generously with a sweet, luscious barbecue sauce with bits of savoury leeks scattered around. The result? A crispy, thin-crusted pizza oozing with sweet, smoky and beefy flavours, accompanied by a fragrant, umami hum from the sautéed leeks.

BUDAEJJIGAE

If you take a classic Korean army stew, load it up with a jumbo pork sausage that’s long enough to line the circumference of a round dish, bulgogi beef, melted cheese and possibly a pump of steroids as well, you might end up with something that’s a fraction of NY Night Market’s Budaejjigae (S$18.90++).

It is what it is—a heart attack in a pot—but for what it’s worth, it is essentially a pot brimming with both fried and stewed goodies, closely resembling a classic Korean army stew but double the satisfaction.

30CM STEAK FRITES

The crème de la crème of all of NY Night Markets steak offerings has got to be their colossal 30cm Steak Frites (S$22.90++). A feast for the eyes, what you get is a 30cm board that’s topped generously with grilled ribeye along with thick-cut fries and a medley of roasted vegetables.

ROSTI & BEEF

Made with finely shredded russets, the Rosti & Beef (S$11.90++) was crispy around the edges but pillowy soft in the middle. Topped with a dollop of sour cream, the sharp, creamy flavour of it did well to balance out the sweet, intensely meaty flavours of the bulgogi beef.

Although this dish is by no means American or Korean—it’s actually Swiss—we must admit that they were pretty spot-on with their own rendition of it.

PASTA DE DAK-GALBI

The Pasta Dak-Galbi (S$17.90++) is a whimsical, calorie-dense fusion dish comprising the likes of Korean dak galbi (spicy grilled chicken) and an assortment of vegetables with a heaping mound of spaghetti covered in a sweet, tangy tomato sauce and topped with gooey melted cheese. Not for the faint of heart, this pasta dish packs an intense fiery punch and you’ll likely be needing to gulp down a drink two bites in.

ALL-IN PLATTER

If you’re finding it hard to decide on a specific dish to order, why not order up a bit of everything to try? Provided you’re in a group with people who can seriously eat, order up the All-In (S$34.90++), a ginormous sharing platter comprising steak, shrimp, grilled pork, mac & cheese, bread rolls as well as an assortment of dipping sauces for you to choose from.

This really had us stuffed but if we’re talking about some of the best sharing platters we’ve ever had, this would easily come up among our top three. Every component was cooked perfectly, from the crunchy, lightly spiced skewered shrimps to the pink-hued medium-rare steaks.

The craze for Korean food has not died down just yet, and we are always on the hunt for new places to add to our list of places to get stellar Korean fare. When it comes to Korean food, our expectations are simple. More often than not, the qualities that we look for is authenticity and attention to taste above all else, and over at Seoul Jjimdak, we got just that.

This vibrant, cosy Korean restaurant is tucked away in a corner of the newly-renovated Northpoint City. Prized above all else is their speciality Jjimdak, a stewed chicken dish that is hugely popular back in Korea but is still a challenge to find in Singapore. Other popular classics on their menu include their Army Stew, Kimchi Fried Rice and Jjajiangmyeong.

From now until 31 Dec 2018, our readers can quote ‘ladyironchef’ to enjoy Seoul Jjimdak’s signature Jjimdak, Korean Army Stew and Dak-galbi at S$29.90 each.

If you’re hankering for some hearty, real-deal Korean food, we urge you to pay Seoul Jjimdak a visit—you won’t be disappointed, nor will you leave hungry.

The restaurant is hard to miss, especially so given its elaborate entrance that features a mock roof—similar to those commonly seen in period Korean dramas—and the many photos of Kpop idols that adorn front counter.

SEOUL JJIMDAK

For those of you who do not know what Jjimdak is, it is essentially a stewed meat dish consisting of chicken, seasonal vegetables and soy sauce. The dish itself is hearty, rich with an intensified sweet and savoury taste.

The recipe for this mouthwatering concoction comes from a resident South-Korean ajumma, so you can be sure of its authenticity. However, the dish has been tweaked to better suit local palettes by reducing the spiciness of it.

The Seoul Jjimdak here (S$39.90) is simply daebak! The dish consists of boneless chicken, potatoes, carrots and potato glass noodles that are soaked in a savoury sauce that is made using secret ingredients that are specially imported from South-Korea. All these components come together to create a medley of flavours that are simply addictive.

ARMY STEW

Another one of the restaurant’s signature dishes is their Army Stew (S$39.90). This hearty pot of goodness is definitely a great dish for sharing around with family and friends, especially on a cold, rainy day.

The Army Stew here is made using a homemade kimchi broth, that is considerably more tangy and punchier than regular store-bought kimchis. The pot is filled to the brim with scrumptious goodies such as pork belly, luncheon meat, tteokbokki tteok , mushroom, vegetables, tofu and ramyeon. These varying flavours and textures definitely elevate the dish, resulting in a very satisfying one-pot-wonder.

Seoul Jjimdak is currently having a lunch promotion where you are entitled to two free toppings with any order of their Army Stew or Jjimdak. Some of these delicious toppings include luncheon meat, sweet corn, mozzarella cheese and udon.

There are also ongoing bundle deals available for both lunch and dinner for their Army Stew or Jjimdak which lets you get other dishes such as their Cheese Tteokbokki, Pork Belly Soup and Seafood Pancake at a more affordable price! This promotion is great if you’re looking to have dinner in a big group and you plan to order a variety of dishes for sharing around.

DAK-GALBI

Another popular, must-try dish is their Dak-Galbi (S$39.90), which essentially is a spicy stir-fried chicken dish that is made with a gochujang-based sauce, boneless chicken chunks, tteokbokki tteok, cabbage and scallions.

The Dak-Galbi here is served in separate components so that you can have fun mixing them all together by yourself. When combined, the tangy gochujang-based sauce coats all the ingredients evenly and generously, creating a spicy, mouth-watering dish befitting of any Korean food lover.

They are also having a promotion where the dish will be going for S$29.90 instead of the usual S$39.90. So, if you love spicy Korean chicken, we suggest you head down right now to enjoy this great deal!

HEARTY KOREAN SOUPS

If you’re hankering for soup or something along the same lines of hot, fiery and comforting, then perhaps one of Seoul Jjimdak’s soup dishes—available as part of their current lunch promotion—should be able to sort your cravings out. One soup that comes highly recommended is their tangy, spicy Pork Belly Kimchi Soup (U.P. S$18.90) that is now going for just S$9.90!

Their Spicy Mandu Ramyeon Soup (U.P. S$12.90) is a must-try for anyone who loves dumplings and anything that packs on some serious heat. This hearty dish is definitely one that will warm you up, and it’s available at only S$8.90.

JJAJIANGMYEONG

Another classic dish that is part of their exciting lunch promotion is this mouthwatering bowl of Jjajiangmyeong (S$8.90 – U.P. S$11.90). This sweet and savoury Korean noodle dish comprises egg noodles smothered in a copious amount of delicious black bean sauce along with diced pork and vegetables.

SIDE DISHES WORTH SHOUTING ABOUT

Aching for some Korean fried chicken? You’ll be happy to know that Seoul Jjimdak serves up a pretty mean plate of perfectly crisp yet succulent Chicken Wings (S$8.90 – U.P. S$11.90) that are available in either spicy or non-spicy sauce.

And of course, what better way to balance out all the spicy flavours than with a steaming hot bowl of warm, Korean-style, steamed eggs (S$5.90 – U.P. S$10.90)? Simple, tasty and a sure-fire way to put a smile on your face—provided that you don’t accidentally burn your tongue on it.

It is no secret that Singaporeans are addicted to Korean food. Ever since the K-wave hit us a few years back, we have never stopped craving for Korean food. It also goes without saying that our favourite kind of Korean food comes in the form of Korean fried chicken.

Chik Soo Korean Chicken at Punggol Drive Oasis Terraces specialises in Korean Fried Chicken—if their name isn’t already obvious enough. And hearing so much about it, we were excited to see how their Korean chicken tasted compared to other famous brands such as Nene Chicken, Chicken Up and 4 Fingers. Here’s what we thought.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The entrance of Chik Soo is not hard to spot, and it is located right smack under the giant Samsung television in the main area.

The interior of the place is quite small and dim, but it made for a cosy environment that is great for intimate get-togethers with family and friends.

The wings came in 3 flavours: Soya Sauce, Sweet Chilli and Hot & Spicy Wings. All of these were priced at S$12 per plate of 4 wings. We decided to opt for their Hot and Spicy Wings because we were curious to see how spicy they really were.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The fried chicken was much bigger than we expected it to be, and the 4 large wings were jostling with each other for space on the plate. Each wing was generously drenched in a copious amount of spicy, chilli sauce, and the sight of it definitely made our mouths water.

The chicken skin was incredibly crispy and crunchy while maintaining a good tender inside that was cooked thoroughly. The spicy sauce, we were sad to say, was not very spicy, so people who can’t take spice can order this without fear. However, we didn’t mind the lack of spice as it was still deliciously tangy and sweet.

Besides chicken, they also sell a number of other classic Korean dishes like Army Stew, Bibimbap and Ginseng Chicken Soup. We also tried the Army Stew set as they were having a promotion where any choice of stew came with a plate of gyoza for only S$36.80.

The army stew has 3 levels of heat, so you can choose how spicy you want it to be. It came in a large pot and had delicious ingredients such as spam, crab rolls, chicken, sausages, tofu, corn and spicy paste mixed in.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The stew had just the right amount of spiciness and tanginess, and we love how all the ingredients soaked up all the goodness of the broth. It definitely is an incredibly satisfying dish that is great to slurp down on a cold, rainy day.

For the gyoza, we had the ones with kimchi and pork fillings. The gyoza was deliciously crisp and golden and made a satisfying crunch sound when we bit into it.

Specialising in a variety of authentic Korean fare from its homemade noodles (guksu), Korean fried chicken and even their signature Korean-style hot pot (jeongol), Guksu over at Suntec City is a tribute of all things traditional.

This new-age Korean Restaurant also happens to be the first specialised Jeongol house in Singapore and although their menu boasts mainly stews and noodle dishes—including the highly popular hae shin tang and yuk gae jang meon—their Korean fried chicken wings are a must-try as well.

So round up your squad, whether they may be Korean food enthusiasts or simply your beer-drinking buddies because Guksu is a restaurant worth checking out.

SNOWING CHICKEN

In need of a something to go with your beer? Then be sure to order up a platter of Guksu’s stellar Korean fried chicken. The menu boasts a pretty impressive array of deep-fried options to choose from such as soy, spicy, wasabi and of course the good-old classic but we decided to go with the Snowing Chicken (S$34.90).

Great for sharing among up to 4 people, this mammoth-sized platter sees a long stack of Korean fried chicken wings slathered with a savoury garlic cream and generously topped with their homemade snow powder (essentially a honey butter and garlic mixture).

Striking the right balance between sweet, savoury and crunchy, we can see why this is a crowdpleaser. The dish is served with a side of mashed potato and pickled radish that both do well to cut through the grease and sweetness of the chicken wings.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The menu is pretty straightforward with a huge variety of skewers and other classic Korean dishes that you would find at any Korean restaurant. You can either pick from the a la carte menu or go for the value-for-money skewer sets.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

New on Yoogane’s menu is the Korean fried chicken that comes in 3 different flavours—Galbi, Honey Citron and Bulgogi.

Yoogane’s chicken wings are marinated for a minimum of 12 hours to ensure that the flavour penetrates deep into the meat and is then coated with a light home-made batter. The end result is perfectly deep-fried chicken that is crunchy, juicy, fresh and flavourful—as authentic as Korean-style fried chicken gets.

An alternative to consider should you wish to elevate your fried chicken experience is to opt for the Fried Chicken Cheese Pool (S$13.90 for 6 pieces)—which is essentially three of the aforementioned flavours served atop a pool of warm, melty cheese filled with sweet corn for an added crunch.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Using a unique blend of sauces and seasoning, Mr Spicy or the Galbi Chicken Platter (S$10.90 for 6 pieces) features Yoogane’s signature Galbi sauce that is spicy, savoury and sweet. If you fancy a good kick out of your chicken then this is one to get.

The Zesty Boss or Honey Citron Chicken Platter (S$10.90 for 6 pieces) is a non-spicy option that is perfect for children or people who do not particularly fancy spicy food in general.

Hand-brushed with their homemade honey citron recipe, be prepared to be blown away by the zest and tanginess from the citron and well-balanced sweetness from the honey. The melted cheese adds a nice savouriness to the dish which balances out the sweetness really well.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Among the three options, we were most impressed by Sweet Chick or Bulgogi Chicken Platter (S$10.90 for 6 pieces). It features a specially crafted Bulgogi sauce that is rich and aromatic, encompassing strong flavours of soy and sesame. A simple concoction, yet the balance between sweet and savoury was struck beautifully.

Another of Yoogane’s more popular option for communal dining is the Army Stew (S$49.90) which delves away slightly from how it is traditionally done with the addition of succulent crab sticks and cheese-oozing chicken meatballs.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The taste of this everyday Korean comfort food is elevated with the addition of their signature chicken galbi, surrounded by a ring of mouth-watering melted cheese with mushroom and corn which did well to inject an element of crunch and savouriness.

Amidst all the spicy foods going around the table, a good dish to tune it down a notch is the Naengmyeon or cold noodles (S$11.90).

Chewy, slippery buckwheat noodles are served with a chilled broth flavoured with vinegar and mustard. Mix the runny yolk from the egg over the vegetables for a richer mouthful. Overall, this dish was refreshing and a great palate cleanser to have to round off the spicy meal.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The Seafood Pancake has generous portions of seafood. The sauce that comes with it is not too salty and complements the pancake really well. This is a good and hearty side, more appropriate for sharing as it can get rather filling after awhile.

Another popular item here at Yoogane is the Dosirak (something like a bento box) that features 3 different types of meat—Chicken Bulgogi (S$12.90), Beef Bulgogi (S$13.90) and Chicken Galbi (S$12.90).

Each lunchbox comes served with either one of the meat choices, crispy chicken luncheon, a sunny side-up and more Korean side dishes. With so many ingredients packed into a small rectangular tin, this is a bento on steroids. It is perfect as a meal on-the-go if you do not have the luxury of time for a proper sit-down lunch.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

With so many options available at Yoogane Singapore, lovers of Korean food fare are truly spoiled for choice. And as if this stellar line up of dishes is not enticing enough, a new Christmas dish is currently in the works, so stay tuned!

In this guide, you will find a list of Korean eateries featuring mains that are mostly below S$10.

One casual Korean eatery in the Dhoby Ghaut area where you can get Korea homestyle cooking minus the frills (and service charge) is Ajumma’s.

Hidden at a corner of The Cathay’s basement, we got to know of this place by word-of-mouth recommendations. Diners can find many classic Korean main dishes that are below S$10. Have a meal here before or after a movie or pop by during your lunch break.

Beef Bulgogi (S$8.90+) set comes with plump white rice and an assortment of small side dishes served in plastic containers. The marinated grilled beef was juicy and savoury, best eaten with rice to balance the saltiness.

If you are looking for something simple and comforting, this is what you will get with Ajumma’s Beef Bulgogi.

Our next dish was Kimchi Ramyeon (S$8.90+) which also came with the same side dishes. Hearty eaters will delight in its generous portion of noodles, meat, tofu and vegetables. We found ourselves slurping away the rich kimchi broth which was not too spicy for our taste buds.

Other star dishes to try out at Ajumma’s are Cpicy Chicken Bulgogi (S$8.90+), Grilled Norwegian Mackerel (S$8.50+), Bibimbap (S$11.90+), Oxtail Beef Ramyeon (S$7.90+) and more.

Su Superstar Korean Cuisine is a casual Korean eatery in *SCAPE that is popular among students and youngsters who hang around the area.

With 12 varieties of Korean ramyeon that are priced below S$10, it is no wonder why the Korean eatery is mostly packed during lunch and dinner hours. If you are looking for a quick Korean fix without burning a hole in your pocket, give Su Superstar Korean Cuisine a try.

The first thing you will notice is the spacious seating environment where long tables are joined together. This arrangement makes communal dining easy for both small or large groups.

As Su Superstar Korean Cuisine runs a semi self-service concept, diners have to collect their own utensils and complimentary iced tea which are placed at the side of the shop.

Among the myriad of choices we had, we decided to try out their Seafood Ramyeon (S$8.80+). It is a comforting dish that came piping hot within ten minutes of waiting time. While we wouldn’t go as far to say that the food here is outstanding, it is what we would expect for its price.

Alternatively, you can also have a taste of other ramyeon dishes such as Chicken (S$6.80+), Kimchi (S$6.80+) and Fish Cake (S$8.80+).

Those who like cold noodles are not forgotten either—choose between the Cold Soup (S$7.40+) and Cold Dry (S$7.40+).

In addition, you can add more toppings to make your ramyeon much more satisfying. Options include minced meat (S$1.50 – S$2.80), Cheese (S$2) and Tofu (S$1.50).
