Created by Genevieve Lee, runner-up of MasterChef Singapore 2018, Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery started out as a home-based business with an e-commerce website during the pandemic in 2020 and it quickly made waves with its Sourdough Bomboloni—combining sourdough and the Italian ‘bomb’ shaped doughnuts.

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery is opening their first physical store at Park Mall with a soft launch on 3 July 2021. The official opening date will be on 8 July 2021.

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s 900 sq ft store at Park Mall will have a takeaway kiosk, retail section and a production kitchen that can cater to both online and retail sales. Online pre-orders and group buys will continue for fixed boxes of 9 Sourbombes, with the option of delivery or collection in-store.

You can also choose to visit the store to pick your Sourdough Bomboloni and get some drinks including cold brew coffee, house-made kombucha and dairy-free tea lattes.

Expect a total of 9 sourbombe flavours, including 6 best-selling signatures and 3 limited edition flavours, which will be introduced quarterly based on seasonal ingredients.

The 6 signature sourbombe flavours include:

Cinnabombe (plain)
The OG Sourbombe in full sour glory, dusted with cinnamon and sugar.

Blueberry & Lemon Thyme
A fruity summer bombe of lemon cream, blueberry jam and fragrant thyme

Lavender Lime Mascarpone
Velvety mascarpone infused with aromatic lavender and bright citrus lime

Basque Burnt Cheesecake
Molten lava explosions of cream cheese and blue cheese, the ultimate umami bombe

Hojicha Caramel
Fragrant Houjicha cold-steeped in milk and sprinkled with toothsome caramel crunch

Passionfruit & Caramelised Banana
A tropical paradise of ambrosial passionfruit mixed with caramelised banana cream

The bakery also has plans to launch a new range of experimental sourdough bakes—including sourdough croissants—later this year. We cannot wait to try them soon!

This whimsical cafe is a floral wonderland with dishes that also uphold their floral fantasy theme! Light, fluffy and sweet, the Original Pancakes are served with maple syrup and sweet cream. It tasted a little eggier than sweet!

Their soufflé pancakes also come with Hokkaido Strawberry Ice Cream or in a Tiramisu-flavoured rendition.

FLUFF STACK

Fluff Stack wows with their generous portion of fluffy stacks at a more affordable price point! Their pancakes come in fun flavours such as Strawberry Cheese, Oolong Boba and Mango Passionfruit but we loved their Original flavour the best.

The stack of two pancakes was accompanied by honey butter, chantilly cream and maple syrup. We liked how the honey butter added some saltiness that was a good contrast against all the sweet.

Probably the most iconic of all the stacks, this Japanese powerhouse of a pancake shop was the “OG” store that started this infatuation with souffle pancakes. Thankfully, you don’t need to fly all the way to Japan for these stacks anymore – Gram had graced Singapore’s shores, setting up a store in VivoCity.

Fair warning that there is always a long queue for these highly-coveted pancakes. Go early and grab a queue token!

HOSHINO COFFEE

These Japanese cafes definitely know how to woo us with their delectable desserts – one of their specialities being souffle pancakes.

Hoshino Coffee makes a pretty amazing rendition of a fluffy stack with their special Strawberry Pancake. Fluffy pancakes are topped with fresh strawberries, freshly whipped cream and vanilla ice cream.

Hoshino Coffee has several outlets. Check out the full list here.

SweeT.Rex started as a hawker stall at Alexandra Village Food Centre and it has opened its first cafe at International Plaza.

The soufflé pancakes were light and fluffy – not anything short of those you get at fancier establishments. They had a slightly eggy taste but the ice cream and the caramel sauce would balance it out.

This pretty cafe serving up all-things-Taiwanese doesn’t just serve Lu Rou Rice and Bubble Tea. They also serve up Milk tea Souffle Stackers – three cloud-like pancakes that are accompanied by a rich milk tea sauce, ice cream, biscuit crumble and boba pearls.

It’s the most indulgent dessert to have, especially if you love Taiwanese milk tea and souffle pancakes. Now you can have the best of both worlds with this dish!

For years, Famous Amos has been the “OG” cookie shop in Singapore. Now, it is time to welcome up and coming young bakeries doling out novel cookies that might possibly rival our well-loved predecessor.

Introducing Folks and Stories: a rustic baking studio nestled in the residential estate of Queenstown that serves up quirky cookie creations inspired by personalities of the people around them, as well as tea cakes and brownies.

Here’s what to expect from these young talents.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

First up on the table was the Charcoal Waffles with Ice Cream (S$15.90). You can choose from a myriad of interesting ice cream flavours such as Hokkaido Strawberry, Lemon Yuzu and Earl Grey. We went with the aromatic classic Earl Grey.

The crisp waffles paired very well with the silky Earl Grey ice cream. Sliced fruit is also speckled on the plate.

Light, fluffy and sweet, the Original Pancakes (S$17.90) is served with maple syrup and sweet cream. It tasted a little eggier than sweet and it was a bit jelak for us after a while.

Their soufflé pancakes also come with Hokkaido Strawberry Ice Cream (S$19.90) or in a Tiramisu-flavoured rendition (S$19.90).

We also tried one of Cafe De Nicole’s Flower’s signature drinks – Rose Latte (S$9.80). Made with homemade rose syrup and milk, this warm drink is mildly sweet and pleasantly perfumes your tastebuds as you sip on it.

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at Cafe De Nicole’s Flower, although price wise, it is a little on the steep side.

If you’re making a trip down to the cafe, try and spot their resident cat that’s cutely named “Lao Ban” – it means “Boss” in Mandarin.

You’re free to bring your furry friends with you to the cafe as well. Just make sure they’re properly leashed and looked after while you eat!

Hailing from Osaka, Asian Rad Afters specializes in beautifully handcrafted egglet waffles, of which they have termed “Bubble Waffles”. They are served with various flavours of ice cream and a plethora of delicious toppings.

They have finally opened up a small storefront at hipster cafe-hopper paradise, Bali Lane, and have created a special Singapore-exclusive menu for their brand new outlet!

The storefront is conveniently located at the front of Bali Lane, along the same street as other well-known cafes such as Stateland Cafe and Krave. The space sports a bright aqua coloured exterior with floral decor that is hard to miss.

Some of the flavours they offer in Osaka for their Bubble Waffles range are the Nutty Caramel (topped with banana slices, caramel, nuts and popcorn), Very Berry Chocolate (topped with dried berries, nuts and oreo) and their ever-popular Blue City Chocolate (topped with oreo, blue whipped cream, popcorn, nuts and banana slices).

For their Singapore outlet at Bali Lane, they have released a special lineup of fruity desserts and colourful drinks, featuring all sorts of tropical fruits that Singapore has to offer. Their signature Bubble Waffles will be topped with dragonfruit, pineapple and fruit loops, named Peranakan Road. Their tropical fruit parfaits, coined “Fruitful Day”, are topped with pineapples, strawberries, kiwis and more pineapple.

For drinks, you can expect four fruity refreshers (from left to right): Princess Yang Kweifei, Kuta Beach, Arabian Nights and Bonsai Citrus. Like the rest of their Singapore-exclusive menu, their drinks are also made with various tropical fruits and citrus.

Give their beautiful ice-cream filled bubble waffles a try if you’re in the area and maybe you can update your Instagram feed while you’re at it, too!
