Hammee’s—a popular burger hawker stall at Commonwealth Crescent Market—took a short hiatus from selling burgers and it converted the stall to selling Nasi ayam goreng and Nasi lemak in March 2021 this year.

Fans of Hammee’ burgers will be thrilled to know that they have made a comeback on 21 October 2021.

Established in 2018, Hammee’s made a name for itself by selling quality gourmet burgers at affordable prices under S$10. Other than its signature beef cheeseburger, the fried chicken burger and fish burger are also very well received.

Here’s what you can look forward to at Hammee’s 2.0.

Made up of handmade beef patty, Hammee’s signature Beef Cheeseburger featured a beef patty which was incredibly juicy and packed with flavour. The toasted burger buns were pillowy soft and buttery, the caramelised onions gave it an extra oomph while the slice of cheese and homemade burger sauce complemented the beef patty wonderfully.

The fried chicken burger comes in 2 flavours: original and spicy. The chicken thigh was perfectly fried to a golden brown on the outside while maintaining its succulent juiciness on the inside, it was also very well-seasoned. Hammee’s has improved their fried chicken burger by using a slightly thicker chicken thigh for a better bun to meat ratio, and a punchier sauce.

Hammee’s has also tweaked the recipe for the fish burger. The entire Alaskan pollock fillet is now portioned out into shorter and more manageable strips so that the fish fillet doesn’t stick out from both sides of the bun. And instead of coating the fish fillets with the usual Japanese panko, Hammee’s made a light and crispy batter, and put their own blend of seasoning in it.

They have shared that the Nasi ayam goreng and Nasi lemak will be put on hold until further notice but they will be bringing them back again in the future.

Hammee’s has announced that it has finished restructuring the stall so as to improve their operational work flow to serve their burgers faster and more efficiently. Hopefully, this will greatly shorten the waiting time for their burger.

Wildfire Burgers—a fast casual concept which specialises in burgers and fried chicken—has opened a second outlet at 1557 Keppel Road, near to Tanjong Pagar.

The burger restaurant was first established in 2015, but it took a hiatus in mid-2019 to work on its menu, before reopening on 1 June 2020 at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Bras Basah.

There are several burgers on Wildfire Burgers’ menu and they are grilled to order in the INKA oven with Japanese Binchotan charcoal. The result? You get a perfectly grilled cheeseburger with black Angus beef patty which comes with American cheese and caramelised onions. Simple and delicious.

The Eggstarter, with its butter folded eggs and American cheese sandwiched in a toasted Brioche Bun, is also one of the most popular dishes at Wildfire Burgers.

Other than burgers, you can also get fried chicken, chicken nuggets, shoestring fries and Basque cheesecake.

The new outlet is located at 1557 Keppel Road near to Castlery and it will officially open its door to the public on 11 October 2021.

There is nothing more satisfying than chowing down on a thick, succulent burger that features a juicy, meaty patty encased between two perfectly fluffy buns. Burgers are our go-to comfort food. Yet, however, it is hard to come by a place that serves up scrumptious yet affordable burgers that won’t break the bank.

Before you pop on over to Mcdonalds to grab yourself your usual Big Mac, why not check out these 8 burger places the next time the burger cravings hit?

While we admit that burgers aren’t exactly the healthiest food choices around, nothing beats sinking your teeth into a succulent, tender burger oozing with melted cheese and stretching your mouth to the fullest in attempt to taste every single element in a mouthful.

Thankfully for us, Singapore has plenty of options when it comes to burger joints—from fancy restaurants to wallet-friendly hawker stalls, there is surely something for everyone no matter what your budget is.

Yet, for our Muslim friends, finding a burger joint may prove to be a bit of a challenge given how many of them are not Halal-certified. No matter, because here we have sussed out 4 Muslim-friendly burger joints in Singapore that are worth forgoing your diet for!

A humble burger joint opened by the folks behind Carvers & Co, Wolf Burgers has, over the last few years, risen through the ranks to become a popular choice among burger aficionados all over Singapore.

The brand is famous for a few things, but more notably for their affordable prices and undeniably delicious burgers.

This no-frills burger joint puts out some scrumptious, meat-packed options, with most items on the menu priced below S$10. And before you begin comparing them to any ordinary fast-food restaurant, let us assure you that the quality and satisfaction that Wolf Burgers guarantees go far beyond your average happy meal.

If you’re a first-timer, perhaps it would not be a bad idea to start yourself off with their signature Wolf Burger (S$9.90). This anything-but-basic burger comprises a freshly ground beef patty with cheddar, sweet onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles in their house-made sesame seed bun.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Our patty was beautifully cooked, achieving the perfect medium-rare. During the cooking, the cooks press the patties down hard against the griddle to achieve a deep and even crust, all while expertly flipping and timing each one to ensure that every patty is done just right.

What we particularly enjoyed about the Wolf Burger, despite it being so simple and ordinary, was the fact that neither one of the ingredients were overly assertive, allowing us to truly appreciate the quality of the beef.

Every burger here is fully customisable, so feel free to exclude or include whatever you want from the type of cheese to their wide selection of toppings. We requested for some pickled gherkins to be added as well as we wanted something acidic to cut through the richness of the beef and melted cheese.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Think zi chart-style succulent pork ribs marinated in handcrafted addictive salted egg yolk sauce, but in generous portions of huge ribs and a cosy environment with beer. You bet we were sold!

#6 SALMON PAPILOTTE

This Salmon Papillote (S$17.80++) looked unassuming, but it turned out to be one of the best dishes we had! Wrapped in parchment paper with a complex butter-based sauce and pepper barigoulle, the beautiful fish is baked to perfection and lightly flavoured with the veggies and sauce. Honestly, this was so good that we would totally return to PARK just for it!

#7 TRUFFLED MAC & CHEESE

All hail PARK’s Truffled Mac & Cheese (S$13.50++)! This ultimate crowdpleaser – baked with sliced turkey ham and cream truffle – is listed in our list of Best Mac & Cheese in Singapore, and it has been a constant favourite among PARK’s regulars!

#8 TOFU PANCAKE WITH MIXED BERRIES

It seems like pancakes will never go out of style and PARK has revamped the classic homely dish into an Instagram-worthy brunch must-order.

The Tofu Pancake* (S$12.80++) is basically a soy-based fluffy pancake topped with mixed berry compote, mandarin oranges and sour cream – all prettily plated and ready to smile for your cameras. And once the photoshoot is done, tuck in to subtle sweetness that is well complemented with the tartness from the fruits.

#9 PULLED PORK TACOS

The Pulled Pork Tacos (S$14.50++) features four corn tortillas filled with barbecue sauce, toothsome slow-cooked pork shoulder, shredded parmesan and mixed vegetables. Not for the faint-hearted, because the pulled pork shoulder is so flavourful with a hint of smokiness from the sauce; but that’s precisely why we enjoyed ours.

#10 BAILEYS TIRAMISU

Last but not least, PARK’s traditional Baileys Tiramisu (S$8.90++) is a homemade goodness with a twist to the usual coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. Alternating layers of mascarpone cheese whipped cream and delicate sponge layers, jazzed up with prized Baileys. How to not love this creamy goodness? No, the Baileys did not overpower, neither is the dessert cloyingly sweet.

*Note that these brunch items are only available until 5pm.

New York’s cloak-and-dagger burger restaurant – Burger Joint – makes its debut in Singapore this week, with its first outlet at Amoy Street. The outlet will have a similar inconspicuous entry point, with a back entrance on Gemmill Lane instead of a flashy store front.

This follows their signature style, with their first outlet in New York City – at Le Parker Meridien – mysteriously located behind a curtain of the hotel lobby. Opening on 03 May 2016, the Singapore outlet will be their sixth outlet worldwide.

Proudly deemed as a burger restaurant without all the fluff of gourmet burgers, Burger Joint makes genuinely unpretentious burgers that have left the harshest of critics in awe.

They have been known to refer to their burgers as anti-gourmet burgers. Although there is nothing wrong with a tasty gourmet burger, the main idea of the burgers at Burger Joint is just to serve some honest and delicious burgers – maybe even the best one you will ever have.

Rest assured that everything was done to make sure that the burgers you have in Singapore will be the exact replica of what you can get in New York.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Soy-glazed cod is beautifully pan-seared, then served with buttered Chinese greens, scallop Israeli couscous, huge prawns and bonito ake – this is one healthy dish that ladies would love, as with anyone who is after a light meal that is still nothing short of flavourful.

SOUS VIDE CHICKEN BREAST

We are not fans of chicken breasts for obvious reasons. But the Sous Vide Chicken Breast (S$17) at FFL won our hearts because it is far from dry and hard! If any, its tender white flesh is actually juicy.

Jazzed up with mashed butternut and pistachio crumble and served with sautéed mixed vegetables in raspberry sauce, this is one chicken breast dish that left an impression on us.

LAB FRUITS CUP

The Lab Fruits Cup (S$14) is Fresh Fruits Lab’s take on acai bowl. You will find chia seed pudding, granola and lemon ice jelly in raspberry sauce, topped with a generous serving of fruits and honey ricotta cream.

FRESH FRUITS LAB’S SIGNATURE DISHES

Regulars to Fresh Fruits Lab can still look forward to the iconic dishes.

On weekdays, the menu’s mainstays include all-time favourites such as Da Bomb Burger (S$19), Fish & Chips (S$19), Chilli Soft Shell Crab Pasta (S$19) and Angus Scotch Fillet (S$39). If you haven’t tried, they also have one of the best Fish & Chips (S$19) in town!

The burger is a handsome stack that comprises a 250g beef patty, slices of crispy bacon, egg and melted cheese. Served with a side of fresh fruits salad and fries, no less! Definitely one of the most value-for-money burgers in town.

WEEKEND BRUNCH

On weekends, FFL is a popular spot for brunch. The cafe sees a full house every Saturday and Sunday, and it is little surprise for the menu is no less reasonably-priced. The dishes are all priced between S$11 to S$17, and it includes the popular brunch fare such as Eggs Benedict (S$13), Bangers And Mash (S$14) and Fruity Berries Pancakes (S$11).

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

And we need to tell you how we are so addicted to the truffled scrambled eggs that is part of the Messy Breakfast (S$17).

WHY WE RETURN TO FRESH FRUITS LAB AGAIN AND AGAIN

Above these all, Fresh Fruits Lab is one cafe in Singapore that never rest on their laurels. They are constantly experimenting with new dishes, playing around with fruits and coming up with innovative dishes and desserts, and always surprises us with amazing menus at prices that are comfortable enough for us to return time and again.

The cherry on top? Their dedication to aesthetics. Plating is one the crew take pride in, and we are just glad we always have pretty food to post on Instagram when we dine at Fresh Fruits Lab.

Having been in the scene for almost 6 years now, Everything with Fries is a familiar name to most. A bistro concept by the folks behind renowned local chocolate brand Awfully Chocolate, you can be absolutely sure that the folks put in the same amount of dedication and precision in their food here.

Do not be confused with their (even more) casual concept at Orchard Central (OC). EwF is presented in more of a grab-and-go fast food style, whereas Everything with Fries at Holland Village is more of a sit-down, table-service style and a tad more refined.

Of soups, salads and desserts, here is what we loved about Everything with Fries at Holland Village.

Exclusive to Ladyironchef readers: flash this post or quote ‘Ladyironchef’ to receive a complimentary cup of Nutella Shake (worth S$8), limited to one free cup per receipt (valid till 31 December 2015).

SIGNATURE FLAVOURED FRIES

The name of the restaurant literally beckons – you can never miss out on this. Even after six years, the fries are still as good, if not better than when we had them way back then. If you think truffle fries are boring and overrated, you need not settle, because there is something even better here – Curry Fries (S$8).

Yes, this humongous sharing plate is for just S$8 and we honestly cannot get sick of it. Our favourite flavour yet!

ONE-OF-A-KIND SALADS THAT ARE ACTUALLY DELICIOUS

Some times, salads are just thrown in to the menus for the sake of it and from experience, we know that not all restaurants put in thoughts into their salads as they would with mains as desserts. And you will not have this problem here at Everything with Fries.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

If salad is the only thing you are feeling that day, know that Everything with Fries has two amazing options for you – Chunky Peanut Butter Slaw (S$10) and Battered Tofu Salad (S$10). Don’t be intimidated by the former. We, too, were a little nervous when we first had it, but the flavours and textures somehow worked and reminded us of rojak.

CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP RE-INVENTED

Regulars of Everything with Fries and EwF would be familiar with their classic One Egg Soup (S$8). How about a change now? We suggest you try the Chicken Noodle Soup (S$8) and we can bet it is nothing like you’ve ever had before.

Shredded chicken wrapped up in thin layers of pasta, simmered in a very rich chicken broth. Have it warm and it will remind you of home.

GREAT SHAKES

What’s a hearty meal without milkshakes, right? Choose from flavours such as Mega Milo Dino, Horlicks & Maltesers, Nutella and even Butterscotch (S$8 each). Everything with Fries does awesome milkshakes that are so thick and substantial, so we’d suggest these for sharing.

HEARTY MAINS OF BURGERS, SANDWICHES & MORE – ALL WITH FRIES

Now, it is time for the good stuff – the mains! We are probably the biggest fans of The HJK (S$17) or Har Jeong Kai burger. It is basically a prawn-paste marinated chicken leg, deep-fried and sandwiched between perfectly toasted buns. No, really. You are missing out in life if you haven’t tried this.

The Great Burger (S$16) is for all you beef lovers, and it is guaranteed to make your tummies oh-so-satisfied! A huge 180g beef patty is paired up with red cheddar roux, cherry tomatoes and crispy bacon.

We have this usual problem with overly-cooked beef patties in burgers, but thankfully, the standard at Everything with Fries is consistent and we are often pleased with the patty’s juiciness.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

We always love the flavours of tandoori chicken and Everything with Fries does a great Tandoori Chicken Sandwich (S$15). Look forward to a well-marinated chicken leg, and the accompanying side of smokey sea salt fries sure completes this dish.

On days when something simple does the trick, go for the Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich. We call it Ham & Cheese XXL, because this big serving is sure to fill you up.

MORE THAN JUST BURGERS AND FRIES

Here’s where the Japanese flavours come in. The Miso Baked King Salmon (S$23) is one of our favourite dishes at Everything with Fries. The miso crust on the salmon adds a beautiful saltiness that cuts through any fishiness that you might be afraid of, and when paired up with very apt wasabi fries, it left us craving for more.

Don’t write the classics off just yet. The Battered Fish (S$18) is a pretty darn good. With a crisp exterior and a glistening centre, the dish is served with a side of very addictive sea salt & malt vinegar fries. Deep fried everything always works for us.

NEWLY-LAUNCHED ‘ICE CREAM ACCIDENT’ DESSERT & MORE

Our jaw dropped when this crazy dish reached our table and we could not wait to tuck into it. The ‘Ice Cream Accident’ (S$8.90) will be launched on 01 December 2015. Dark chocolate ice cream (a slightly lighter version of everyone’s favourite Hei ice cream from Awfully Chocolate) is topped on a bed of vanilla bean cream, covered in chocolate soil.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

We all loved the variety of textures and flavours of this dessert. Heck, it might just be the best accident ever!

We know you have seen the Gula Melaka Doughnuts from its sister restaurant, Sinpopo Brand but this is just a slightly different version. Here at Everything with Fries, the doughnuts are coated with butterscotch instead, and served with a side of affogato.

And because we have a penchant for citrusy desserts, the Lemon Yogurt Cake (S$9) was a delight.

During Everything with Fries’ Happy Hour (after 9pm), you can get Asahi, Heineken, Hoegaarden, and Corona at S$10 for 2, as well as Erdinger Dark/Light at S$18 for 2.

But you know what is even better? You can enjoy this Happy Hour promotion at any time of the day with the order of a main dish!

Eating is an expensive hobby, and we all know the anguish of wanting a good meal but not having enough moolah to indulge. It is painful as much as it is frustrating. #FoodiesProblems

But you see, dining out need not be expensive if you know where to go. We have rounded up a list of 13 places in Singapore that serve budget main courses that are priced S$13 and below, and you know this is awesome news, right? No need to break the bank for a good and comforting meal, no need to pay an arm or a leg.

In this guide to budget eats under S$13, you will find a balanced mix of continental and international favourites from all over Singapore, so bookmark this page and it will save you on rainy days when your wallet has no ability to take any more beating.

#1 AH BONG’S ITALIAN – BASIL PESTO PASTA

Ah Bong’s Italian at Tiong Bahru changes their menu daily but recycles some popular picks. If you’re lucky enough that day and the Basil Pesto Pasta or a variation of it is on the menu, don’t hesitate to order it.

Doused evenly with rich pesto sauce, the overall pasta taste is taken up a notch with what we felt was a light addition of chicken broth and other seasonings – unveiling an extremely palatable taste. The pastas here are all prepared a la minute so the pastas are best eaten the minute it reaches your table. For just a mere S$7, we’re definitely coming back for more!

When in Serangoon Gardens, the cafe to go to is Arbite. This cafe started with humble beginnings some years ago, and today, it is a perennial favourite among residents and cafe-goers.

We like that the menu is not cluttered with the “typical cafe food”. What had us going back is the pancakes. For only S$12, you enjoy a stack of fluffy pancakes with banana, caramel sauce, sea salt, walnuts and vanilla ice-cream.

Well-known for their inexpensive gyozas (Japanese meat dumplings) with convenient outlets in central Singapore, Gyoza Ya has upped the ante in the recent few months with variations of their pan-fried gyozas.

These selections include the Mentaiko Gyoza and the Cheese Gyoza (both S$7.80 for 5 pieces), which are best eaten with their individually portioned side of Garlic or Seafood rice (S$5.80 each) but we highly recommend sticking to the former as the garlic flavour is pleasantly poignant.

Hob Nob is one of the several under-the-radar spots we love in Orchard Road. It is located on level three of Far East Shopping Mall – the one beside Wheelock, not the better-known Far East Plaza. The place is small, with only 8 tables that accommodate 25 people.

The food is simple, so don’t come here expecting fancy stuff. But if you want a decent meal in town without breaking the bank, Hob Nob might just become your new favourite place. Prices start from S$9.80 for a Fried Egg & Bacon Sandwich, to S$16.80 for Spaghetti Tom Yum Seafood. The Hob Nob Fish & Chips (S$11.80) is also worth a try.

Hob Nob is also listed in our guide to Singapore’s Top Budget Restaurants in Orchard Road.

I Want My Noodle is a local brand name that showcases their signature homemade springy egg noodles, served in a variety of different ways. We liked My Mushroom Noodle (S$7.90) for the inexpensive price tag and the overall taste of the noodles (dry is a better option) with their chilli sauce, served on the side.

There are other options such as the Double Roast Noodles which cost a little bit more but we can assure you that it is also worth the splurge. Only cash is accepted at this eatery so do make sure you have enough cash handy.

Tonkotsu is our top choice always, simply because no other broths can be as gratifying as a rich, creamy and oily pork broth. The good news is, Ramen Keisuke does a pretty mean bowl and it is only S$10.80 with free flow of hard-boiled eggs and bean sprouts!

#9 SAVEUR – DUCK CONFIT

People love Saveur because it offers cheap and decent French food. There’s a trade-off, though. Portions are very small, so you have to order more dishes to share.

Having said that, it is probably impossible to find another place that serves a good duck confit at $10. So, if you are on a budget, check out Saveurs. Remember to go early, or be prepared to queue.

Previously housed in a coffee shop, The Wicked Garlic’s tremendous success has led them to move over to the Central Business District in International Plaza. The Wicked Garlic offers a good range of pastas, pizzas and risottos but we loved their Ling Nero Di Seppia (Squid Ink Linguine, S$8.70) the most.

Each strand of pasta is coated evenly in the tasty squid ink sauce and you have a choice to add in extra items such as prawns and bacon to enhance your dish or to suit your liking. For just a mere S$8, we’re definitely not complaining.

EwF by Everything With Fries has changed our perceptions of fast-food concepts forever. It is common to assume that fast food – especially burgers – will be lacklustre. And boy, were we totally wrong!

EwF by Everything with Fries currently has two outlets at Bugis Junction and Orchard Central and it serves scrumptious gourmet burgers prepared with fresh meats, and the fluffy buns are all made from scratch. Fries lovers are also in for a treat. Well, because it is Everything with Fries, right? Five irresistible flavours of fries – Sour Cream and Onion, Barbeque, Curry, Garlic, and Truffle - await you!

Besides the delicious burgers and fries, EwF’s menu also features sinfully tasty side orders, drool-worthy desserts and a variety of hot and cold drinks. Prices at EwF are extremely budget-friendly, especially when the portions are more than substantial. A mouthwatering burger combo (inclusive of a burger, fries and beverage of your choice) starts from an affordable S$11.90.

From now till 30 Sep 15, quote ‘Ladyironchef’ to receive a complimentary meal upsize when you order any burger set at EwF by Everything with Fries in Bugis Junction.

Thanks to EwF by Everything with Fries, gourmet quality burgers are now made accessible to those with financial and/or time constraints. Indeed, we were surprised by how their decadent ala carte burgers start from a reasonably low price of S$8.90. There is an optional add-on of S$3 to complete your meal with fries and drinks!

As the brand name suggests, EwF is famous for their amazing fries. Priced at S$4.90 per portion, you can choose from the following four flavours – Sour Cream and Onion, Barbeque, Curry and Garlic. The Truffle option is S$5.90.

Deep-fried to perfection with crisp exteriors and fluffy insides, we found ourselves having no problems devouring countless helpings of these addictive piping hot fries. Our absolute favourite is Sour Cream and Onion; what about you?

EwF is so confident of their signature Har Jeong Kai Chicken Wings (S$6.90) that they have proclaimed them to be the ‘Best Wings in the World’. For non-locals, Har Jeong Kai is a popular Singaporean dish of fried chicken wings marinated with fermented shrimp paste. The crispy, fragrant and juicy wings are served with a sambal chilli dip. We were sold upon sinking our teeth into the sizzling wings, and you have no clue how we always crave for them.

EwF’s culinary interpretations with Har Jeong Kai have extended to their burgers. You would want to hear this – the Har Jeong Kai Burger (S$8.90/ala-carte, S$11.90/meal) features a succulent prawn paste chicken leg sandwiched between two delicate handmade sesame buns, then topped with mayonnaise.

Everything With Fries is the first restaurant in Singapore to create Har Cheong Kai and it has gained a legion of fans since its first appearance in its flagship store at Holland Village and we are unabashedly one of them. Do we even need to justify?

Besides the best-selling Har Jeong Kai Burger, there are also a few other Asian-inspired burger inventions at EwF, such as the semi-spicy Tandoori Chicken Burger (S$8.90/ala-carte, S$11.90/meal) and Hainanese Pork Chop Burger (S$8.90/ala-carte, S$11.90/meal).

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The former has been a longstanding favourite among its regulars, while the latter is a relatively new dish that has been no less popular. We like that that it is topped off with a sunny side-up, because simple goodness like this always works.

If none of these unique burgers appeal to you, opt for their classic beef burgers. Those with bigger appetites should order the Double Decker (S$11.90/ala-carte, S$14.90/meal), which is essentially a juicy double patty beef burger stuffed with melting cheese and other goodness. It is worth mentioning that despite being a fast food restaurant, the buns and sauces are all handmade.

On to the sweets. We always save some space for desserts, yes?

EwF is not just a destination for burgers, or fries for that matter. Their desserts are so impressive that we dare say they are truly worth the extra calories. The highly acclaimed Nutella Tart with Ice Cream (S$8.90) – another original creation by Everything With Fries – consists of rich pure Nutella filling with Nutella glaze over an oreo biscuit crumb-based tart, still tasted as good as the ones we had in yesteryears. Yipe, we have been fans since Day One.

The Browned Butter Sugee Cake (S$6.90) is an interesting adaptation of the local brown sugar sponge cake. Light and with a surprising crisp texture on the top, the sweet slice of cake is covered with almond streusels and coated in browned butter fudge. It is a definite must-try, and we actually found ourselves caught in between this and the Nutella Tart. Can we just have the best of both worlds? You won’t judge us, right?

Last but not least, the Nutella Crepe (S$6.90) is an exclusive treat to EwF. A millefeuille-like nutella pastry with twenty alternating layers of paper-thin chocolate crepes and nutella cream filling, this is not as decadent as Nutella Tart, so if you still want your Nutella fix, this makes a great alternative.

Need more to satisfy that nutella obsession of yours? Indulge further with a cup of Hot Nutella (S$5.90/regular, S$6.90/large).

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Otherwise, we say give the Katong Jelly (S$4.50) a go! It is a concoction of pink lemonade and fresh agar-agar jelly that are made and “grated” in-house daily.

For the uninitiated, Katong Jelly is a long-lost Katong drink which disappeared from Singapore about 20 years ago. The good people at Everything With Fries wanted to bring back the nostalgic taste of Katong so they went on a quest around the neighbourhood to ask the old residents about the drink.

#3 BLACKBIRD BISTRO & BAR

Unbelievably juicy, Blackbird shows us what a really good deep-fried chicken patty really is with their take on the Southern Burger (S$16.80), featuring two very photogenic charcoal beef buns. We love slices of cheese that top the chicken patty off for a salty but very satisfying overall taste.

#6 FATBOY’S THE BURGER BAR

The main draw of Fatboy’s is the ability to design your own burger with their wide range of ingredients. Since their inception a few years ago, Fatboy’s has expanded tremendously to also include smaller scale eateries such as The Burger Bar, where we can get our fix of the same delicious Fatboy’s burgers! If all else fails, the Fatboy’s Fat Basterd Burger (S$19.80) that includes a plethora of sinful, yet delectable ingredients will save your day.

The name sums it all up. It is da bomb! This beautiful burger consists of crispy bacon, a sunny side up egg and melted cheese on top of a 250g juicy beef patty. The burger is every bit pretty, and even comes with a generous helping of fries and fruit salad. The Da Bomb Burger (S$19) from Fresh Fruits Lab is definitely worth travelling to the East for!

Burgers are the best hearty options anywhere you go, and Huber’s Butchery probably has one of the best classic beef burgers in Singapore. With a solid, flavourful and juicy patty, the Huber’s Beef Burger (S$15) ticks all the boxes on the list. The hand-ground beef patty sandwiched between two burger buns tasted like heaven. Amazingly, the beef patties are so juicy on the numerous occasions we went.
#14 THIRD & SIXTH BISTROBAR

Biting into this really is messy, but it will be more than worth it. The Messy Mexican (S$16) at Third & Sixth Bistrobar shows us how a Mexican-style burger should be done with the added use of beef chilli and guacamole. The flavours in this beautiful are dimensional and very intriguing!

Two Blur Guys specialises in burgers and they have a variety of different meats. We enjoyed the classic Prime Beef Burger (S$14.95) and Pulled Pork Burger (S$13.85) the best. The former features a well-cooked beef patty, while the latter boasts a filling of pulled pork that was tender and delicious when slathered with a mild mustard mayo.
