True to its name, Arteastiq is the quintessence of elegance with its beautiful posh restaurants featuring exquisite dining ambiences, scrumptious nosh and eclectic ranges of artisanal teas. The establishment already has two existing outlets that are conveniently located at Mandarin Gallery and Plaza Singapura, and they’ve decided to expand to the East to include an outlet at fresh-faced Jewel Changi Airport.

Overlooking the world’s biggest indoor waterfall and shrouded in lush greenery, Arteastiq Bistro at Jewel Changi Airport is a dreamy sanctuary for travellers and city dwellers alike to retreat to for some much-needed respite away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Aside from the majestic view, take your senses on a gastronomical adventure with their all-day multifaceted menu that has been created by Arteastiq Group’s executive chef, Chef Yip. The adroitly curated menu focuses on the reinterpretation of continental cuisines and features the likes of snazzy high tea sets, delectable mains and ambrosial desserts.

This botanical haven sits in a quiet corner on the top floor of Jewel Changi Airport. Its strategic location at the rooftop area lets in plenty of sunlight that bathes the entire restaurant in a warm, soothing glow.

With its sleek furniture and verdure accents in the colour scheme of cyan, white, gold and black, the bistro exudes a chic and modern charm that provides its diners with a tranquil and luxurious Al fresco dining experience.

NATIONAL TREASURE HIGH TEA SET

Iindulge yourselves with Arteastiq Bistro’s new National Treasure High Tea Set (S$32 for 1 Pax, S$48 for 2 Pax), which is the perfect embodiment of Singapore’s rich and diverse multi-cultured food history.

This glorious display includes two speciality teas of your choice (not including their alcoholic range) and bites such as kueh pie tee with crab stick, rainbow kueh lapis, soft gula melaka with red bean and glutinous rice wrapped in spicy shrimp.

Our absolute favourite has to be the glutinous rice wrapped in spicy shrimp — dense, chewy and accompanied by a spicy kick, this small but fiery mouthful undoubtedly packs a mean punch.

SCRUMPTIOUS STARTERS

Start off your feast with one of their enticing starters which include Cheese Tofu (S$9), Pan Seared Foie Gras (S$15) and Scallop Bruschetta (S$12). Out of the lot, our favourite is the Spicy Escargot (S$11) which consists of sauteed snails doused in a sauce made from chilli oil, garlic, cocktail onions and light cream.

HEARTY ASIAN MAINS

Arteastiq Bistro’s extensive menu serves up a bountiful range of hearty, soul-comforting mains but out of them all, the ones that grabbed our attention were the Sambal Sea Bass with Dry Laksa (S$25) and Pan Roasted Satay Chicken Boneless Thigh (S$22).

Drenched in a tangy and fiery dried shrimp sambal chilli sauce, the fork-tender oven-baked sea bass had a decent amount of heated kick to it that didn’t overwhelm the palate.

The dry laksa, on the other hand, was aromatic and chewy with a slight zest to it that made it the perfect accompaniment to the sea bass.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the Pan Roasted Satay Chicken Boneless Thigh, which features a succulent slab of chicken thigh that comes with a side of rice vermicelli, prawns, rice cake and a pot of fragrant peanut sauce.

Tender, moist and well-marinated, the chicken thigh proved to be a more elevated version of Singapore’s classic chicken satay. The rice vermicelli and satay sauce also served to add a nice variance in texture when eaten together with the chicken.

PASTAS TO LOVE

Get yourself a carbonora; their version is a sinful Truffle Carbonara (S$18). This bowl of goodness comprises unique tri-colour spaghetti that is drenched in a luxurious cream sauce and enhanced by the addition of black truffle, garlic, turkey bacon and parmesan cheese.

If cream-based pasta isn’t your cup of tea, you can opt for the Spicy Crayfish Spaghetti (S$16) which features two generous slabs of crayfish atop a bed of tri-coloured pasta that is tossed and sautéed with chilli oil, garlic, cocktail onion and light cream.

DECADENT DESSERTS

Arteastiq Bistro has a range of decadent desserts that we’d gladly get fat for.

The Rainbow Kueh Lapis (S$12) is a whimsical take on the classic kueh lapis and is served with red beans and a scoop of ambrosial durian gelato. Dense, fragrant and addictively buttery, the kueh lapis pairs really well with the light and creamy durian gelato.

Another dessert to try is the Pandan Kaya Lava Cake (S$12) which is served with red beans and a sinful (but shiok) scoop of gula melaka gelato. Slice through the cake’s soft exterior and watch the viscous lava ooze out of the cake. The cake as a whole manages to be rich and saccharinely sweet without being too overwhelming and we appreciate how it tastes like authentic pandan and kaya.

AFTER DARK DELIGHTS (8pm – 10pm)

If you’re a night owl, Arteastiq Bistro at Jewel Changi Airport offers an outlet-exclusive Mid-night Menu from 8pm to 10pm. Order yourself a brightly hued cocktail and enjoy the magnificent view of the majestic indoor waterfall from the comfort of your seat. Some cocktails that you can try are Flight Fantasy, Bewitching Grove and Dragon Gin & Tonic.

If you’re feeling peckish, get yourself some grub from their bar menu which includes savoury finger foods such as Salted Egg Fried Chicken Thigh (S$9), Beef Chilli Waffle Fries (S$12) and Prawn Paste Fried Squid (S$12).

Lo and behold, there is the Mid-night High Tea set at S$48 for 2.

The grandiose set comes with speciality tea for two, with a choice of an upgrade to a sharing cocktail or sangria for an additional S$20. We recommend upgrading your drink because that would mean that you can get yourself a massive sharing glass filled with your choice of alcoholic beverage and pearls; definitely not something you get to try every day!

Accompanying the drinks is an array of bite-sized treasures such as smoked salmon roulade with cream cheese and tobiko, truffle shell pasta, sweet potato fries with truffle oil and vol au vent with tuna and cheese.

The foodie community wept when The Marmalade Pantry announced back in mid-2018 that it was closing it’s outlet at ION Orchard. A beloved high-tea spot in the heart of town, we fell in love with everything there from their charming ambience, innovative brunch dishes and a wide selection of artisanal teas and cakes.

Well, surprise, surprise, the home-grown bistro is set to return to its former premise on the 4th level of ION Orchard once again. This time, armed with a tasty arsenal of new dishes in addition to signature favourites such as their Spicy Crabmeat pasta and Sticky Date & Toffee Pudding. Looking forward to other new and exclusive to this outlet dishes like the stellar high-tea set and a trio of decadent desserts specially crafted by Masterchef Singapore’s runner-up, Chef Genevieve Lee as part of a collaboration that pays humble tribute local dishes and in support of local talent.

With a whopping total of more than 10 new and exclusive menu items and more, be wowed by the likes of their new Asian section, featuring the Kimchi Fried Rice, served with a gorgeously pink medium-rare strip loin and the Singapore Laksa, a homage to our beloved local dish but with the addition of slipper lobster. Looking to pamper yourself as you catch up with friends? Their Decadent Afternoon Tea Set comes with a variety of sweet and savoury confectionery delights and freshly brewed pots of tea by Monogram.

MARYLAND CRAB CAKES

The key to any good crab cake is using fresh lump crabmeat, leaving them slightly chunky and not overly shredded and to go light on the filler. Safe to say, the folks here nailed it perfectly. Their Maryland Crab Cakes (S$26++) focuses squarely on the crab, allowing each bite to be crispy and packed full of sweetness and natural flavours of crab.

The homemade tartar sauce served on the side was also spot on, not overly rich with a good amount of diced gherkins added to give the sauce a sufficient citrus kick to complement the crab cakes.

SPICY SRIRACHA CHICKEN BURGER

Delightful in both its flavour and texture, the Spicy Sriracha Chicken Burger (S$24++) assaults the several fronts. First, you get the crunch from the perfectly deep-fried spiced chicken patty before succulent juices come oozing out, followed by the tangy kick from the Sriracha mayo which nicely complements the rich notes of the blue cheese.

SINGAPORE LAKSA

Unlike many restaurants out there that try to tweak and reinvent local dishes to the point that it’s unrecognisable, the good folks here do well to retain the essence of what they aim to recreate. The broth of their Singapore Laksa (S$32++) is rich, spicy and exudes a bold seafood aroma and also features the likes of slipper lobster, quail eggs, tiger prawns for that luxe appeal.

KIMCHI FRIED RICE

A homage to the classic after-tipple comfort food, we were most thrilled to tuck into their new Kimchi Fried Rice (S$26++). On a bed of fried rice cooked with fresh kimchi, sits a nicely seared striploin steak, perfectly pink in the middle and golden brown from edge to edge. For umami, nori is garnished over the top and sous vide egg, served on the side for added richness.

Served flat on a griddle pan—similar to how a Spanish paella would be served—the bottom layer of the rice achieves an even crust, giving the dish a toasted flavour and a crunch as well.

SPICY CRABMEAT PASTA

Perhaps one of the best pasta dishes we’ve tried here to date, the Spicy Crabmeat Pasta (S$26++) impresses with its generosity with good quality crabmeat, perfectly cooked pasta and a flavourful, umami-dense sauce that binds everything together nicely.

The addition of pine nuts into the mix gives the dish a nutty, somewhat buttery flavour which does well to complement the sharp taste of the spicy tomato sauce.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

They call the appetisers “The Lighter Sides of Love”, and they sure are teasing our palates for greater things ahead. We began our afternoon with a Cyperian Affair (S$18) – a salad of rocket leaves, grapes, walnuts, pan fried haloumi and greek honey. A simple mix that features varying textures and complementing flavours, this salad is great even for vegetarians.

And we absolutely loved the Sweet Potato Fries with Horseradish Aiolo (S$12). Sweet Potato Fries are too underrated, but these food for the soul excite us more than regular fries do. Arteastiq’s version is a fancy-free jar of thick-cut strips lightly coated with salt and fried to a golden orange shade.

On to the mains, the menu is split into “Ladies Affairs” and “Gentlemen’s Dinner” – no hard and fast rule about what you can or cannot order, though. So it goes without saying that we feasted to our hearts’ content. With everything being so tantalizing, it is impossible to settle for only a dish. Or two.

The Prince of Monte Carlo (S$28) tops the chart for being an unconventional Croque Monsieur. Think slices of brioche with melted cheddar and 24-hour beef short ribs topped with a gorgeous sunny side-up. And guess what? It comes with the divine sweet potato fries too! This dish is too flawless.

Eggs Benedict for you? No, let’s do crabcake benedict. The Aphrodite-Crabcake Benedict (S$25) is splendid variation of the ubiquitous brunch food, and it features Maryland crabcake and poached egg atop slightly toasted brioche, then lavishly covered in smoked paprika hollandaise. The eggs are brilliantly poached, with beautiful runny yolks that blend with the hollandaise and seep into the crabcake for an additional touch of creaminess.

Love your duck confit? Then the Beijing’s Dynasty-Duck Pancake (S$28) is for you. Shredded and wrapped in crepe sheets and drizzled with orange caramel, this dish reminds us of Peking duck – except that it is a lot neater in a sexy ambience, of course.

Eggs anything, did we hear? How about baked eggs with foie gras? The Summer in Provence (S$28) is a hearty cocotte that featured a generous slab of seared foie gras, baked eggs, demiglace and countrybreads. Indulgent and flavoursome, we love this dish on a quiet afternoon with a good read in hand.

On to the Viking’s Prime-Frikadel et Rosti (S$28) – sounds complicated, but let’s just say this is an awesome pairing of sweet potato rosti (oh yes, baby!) and chicken patties. Prepared with brown sauce, mustard and horseradish, look forward to a taste of textured spices. Goes really well with their famed iced lychee tea (S$11)!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

We heard the Louisana Love (S$26) is a popular choice too. Essentially chicken and waffles, this dish features panfried buttermilk chicken, wholewheat waffles, maple butter and red vegetable slaw. What dreams are made of, we’d say. Need some warm stew? The Boston Love Boat-Ciponio (S$29) is a seafood and saffron version that is (also) served with sweet potato fries. Never too much, indeed.

The menu revamp also brings about a spanking desserts selection that they call “The Sweeter Sides of Love”. Small but concise, everything is homemade with so much thoughts and love. On a lighter note, we have so much respect for places that reinvent recipes, so Arteastiq has our hearts for this.

We liked the Airy Fairy (S$13) best. A portion of Valrhona chocolate mousse with vanilla cream parfait a day keeps depression at bay! This dessert is also very Instagram-worthy.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Are you a fan of donuts? Because the Pillows-”Beignets” (S$12) are not to be missed. Three balls of New Orleans style beignets that are round and soft – airy on the inside, and powdered with coffee sugar on the outside. Served with creme chantilly, we would even do this as a main on days that we need some sugar rush.

The Silk Thread (S$13) is an interesting rendition of crème brûlée. It is not your usual sweet custard; it is infused with osmanthus. Lightly creamy and significantly less sweet, this variation is served with fresh plump berries, and ideal for those who normally do not prefer the classic rich custard.

As Arteastiq prides itself as an oasis of a venue, the whole concept of social interaction through the expression of painting and gathering whilst overlooking the busy life of Orchard Road from above is a truly exquisite experience.

A romantic dinner, live band belting out love ballads, friendly staff taking polaroid photos for precious keepsake – this was our Valentine’s Day dinner at O’Coffee Club.

Many people know O’Coffee Club as a popular cafe chain where they can hang out with friends over drinks and food. But what many people do not know is that O’Coffee Club is also a place to go for special occasions. We celebrated Valentine’s Day at O’Coffee Club’s first outlet in Holland Village, and the night marks another chapter in our journey.

Read more for our Valentine’s day dinner, and to learn about some of the promotions at O’Coffee Club.

We began our romantic candlelight dinner with a Seafood Symphony Platter, which combines poached whole prawn with white and red wine jelly; grilled baby octopus Cajun style with lemon cream; quick seared salmon on a polenta pattie; and a mildly spiced crab salad on a crispy potato cake. While everything was well executed, my favourite was the spiced crab salad. The pairing of crab salad and potato cake did not appeal much initially, but I was wrong; it was utterly delicious.

Next up was an even better Asparagus Soup with Butter Poached Lobster. The sweet and juicy lobster nicely balanced the earthiness of the asparagus soup. And to top it off, there were pleasant chunks of prosciutto ham.

For entrée, we had a Mushroom Medley Risotto perfumed with, yet again, our favourite truffle oil.

Main course was a duo of Fillet of Miso Cod with tomato compote and Beef Striploin with spring vegetables. The beef was decent, though nothing to shout home about. We finished it nonetheless because the yummy pepper made up for it all. The cod, on the other hand, impressed us. It was perfectly seared, and we especially loved the accompanying tomato compote.

Our 5-course Epicurean dinner ended with a Creme de Lychee and Raspberry (pictured at the start of the post) – a heart shaped mud pie macaroon and vanilla ice cream that was specially created by O’Coffee Club’s award winning pastry chef (Chef Alex Yen is part of Singapore’s Junior Pastry Team which was awarded 3rd prize at the recent Junior Pastry World Cup Competition held in Italy).

I am really happy to have celebrated this lovely occasion at O’Coffee Club. Do look out for more dine-in promotions! They are currently having an awesome deal where you can enjoy a big-value weekday lunch and dinner set menu comprising soup of the day and a main course – choose from Beef Daube, BBQ Chicken Thigh or Baked Shrimp-crusted Salmon – served with hot coffee or tea or iced tea – at $25 per person.

If you are looking for a place to catch up with your friend over tea, drop by from 2pm – 6pm for their cake and coffee/tea set promotion at $8.50++ per person. What I love about O’Coffee Club is that the cakes are special creations baked in house every day and not mass produced from suppliers.

What is there not to love about high tea? As a fancy afternoon affair that is synonymous with decadent treats and heart-to-heart talks, it is beneficial for one’s weary soul.

Unknown to many, TWG Tea Salon is a homegrown brand that has won over the taste buds of many tea and dessert lovers. Its growing reputation as a tea institution that offers a variety of exclusive and interesting tea blends and tea-infused delicacies has cemented its popularity in the local food scene. At first glance, you might be put off by the exquisite interior of the restaurant but TWG does offer affordable brunch sets. In addition, the friendly demeanour of its service staff and beautiful counter display of cakes and sweet pastries make it hard to resist the idea of dining with them.

We started our afternoon on a savoury note with two of their brunch set specials: Emperor ($52) and Majestic ($56). There are six available brunch sets to choose from and what sets them apart is the choice of main course offered.

Each brunch set includes a main course, choice of 2 muffins or scones, a dessert, a choice of tea from their extensive tea menu and a glass of freshly squeezed juice.

For the Emperor brunch set, we had the Chicken roulade with sautéed asparagus, roasted beetroot and tomato confit drizzled with a Napolean tea infused sauce. Fancy presentation aside, it was good but without the “wow” factor that I’d hoped for.

As a seafood lover, I must admit that I enjoyed the main course that was served with the Majestic brunch set better. Think Pan-seared scallops accompanied by caramelized fennel and brunoise pea pods, garnished with baby-leaf herbs and a Caravan tea infused vinaigrette… The tea-infused vinaigrette sauce offered a refreshing twist to the dish.

We also shared some scones, macarons (ordered separately) and cakes for a sweet ending to the afternoon.

I appreciate how their macarons are infused with some of their signature teas. My favourite macarons among the colourful selection are the Morrocant mint tea macaron and Earl Grey Fortune & Chocolate macaron. That said, the other unique flavours are worth a try.

Without a doubt, the TWG Singapore surprise is my favourite tea patisserie at TWG. A crème brulee tart filled with vanilla bourbon tea-infused cream and strawberries, I am not surprised that this is one of their best-sellers. Kudos to the creator of this brilliant slice of heaven! Although I’m not a fan of crème brulee, this dessert definitely hit the right spots.

In my opinion, TWG prides itself on offering to its patrons a wholesome dining experience, which explains their immaculate service, amazing food presentation and lovely ambience. By the time we left the restaurant, I was already making a mental note of the tea patisseries that I’ll be ordering on my next visit. If you’re thinking of satisfying your sweet tooth cravings, here is another restaurant to consider.

I love afternoon tea. It combines three of my favourite things – yummy desserts, a nice pot of tea, and catching up with good friends.

I’ve always heard about the afternoon tea at Chihuly Lounge, Ritz-Carlton Millenia, but for some reason, I never had the chance to try it. When I finally went there recently for an afternoon indulgence, I must say that they did not disappoint – if anything, exceeded expectations.

I really like Chihuly Lounge. I like that the place has a high ceiling – allowing light to flood the lounge – and it feels spacious and comfortable. I like that the lounge has good chill-out music, it is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. I like that the staff are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. And of course, I love the cakes, pastries, and sandwiches, that are oh-so-delicious.

Unlike the usual hotel afternoon tea, Chihuly Lounge offers a decadent eight-course afternoon tea set menu ($39++/pax, from 2.30pm to 5pm). After you have settled down, the staff will bring out a pretty tea mocktail, which is served with a selection of crackers with XO chilli sambal. Then, you will proceed to choose a pot of tea — from a wide selection on the menu — or freshly-brewed coffee. Before the main event, you get to enjoy the carving station trolley which gives you the choice of beef wellington or salmon coulibiac (note: this changes on a weekly basis).

And finally, the tea set stand consists of smoked chicken and chestnut salad in laugen roll; avocado and cream cheese in whole meal finger and cucumber; parma ham on olive baguette; Scottish smoked salmon in almond buns; plain and raisin scones; pistachio macarons; lemon cheese cake with meringue; chocolate praline tarts; and strawberry puffs.

If you still have room, you must try the raspberry sorbet which comes in a very pretty ice cream cone.

Last, but not least, there is the dessert trolley with tea cakes, cookies, kueh lapis, and pralines.

You get to enjoy the whole experience for just $39++/person. For a five-star afternoon tea, I would definitely recommend Chihuly Lounge at Ritz-Carlton Millenia.

Having afternoon tea is one of my all time favourite activities. What’s there not to like when you get to have delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, savoury treats and pretty desserts?

When you ask people to recommend a place for a luxury afternoon tea, most people would probably mention The Courtyard at Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

If you have always wanted to try the Fullerton High Tea, gather your friends and make a reservation today!

For $42++/pax, you get a traditional English afternoon tea which comes with a selection of English tea sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of sweets. And the best part is the food and tea/coffee are replenish-able.

There is also the option of topping up for a glass of wine at $52++, or champagne at $62++.

If you are a big fan of scones, you must check out the ones here. They are quite possibly one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

An assortment of sandwiches: salmon corn, ‘otak’ cheese, pumpkin crackers, asparagus beef, and cucumber tomato.

Pastries and sweets: cream puff, kueh lapis, puff pastry, and chocolate cake.

While it may seem like you are paying a high price for finger sandwiches and petite desserts, what you get in return is a perfect afternoon. The Courtyard at Fullerton Hotel, without a doubt, has one of the best afternoon high teas in Singapore.

“I think I am in love,” I told my dining companion when I saw the amazing éclairs from Chihuly Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

Chihuly Lounge is currently having a Summer Weekend Afternoon Tea (2 June to 26 August 2012), and in addition to the assortment of canapes, finger sandwiches, and scones; executive pastry chef Terence Pang has specially created 12 different éclairs for this occasion.

From the popular chocolate éclair, to the cute gummy bear éclair, to the irresistible passion fruit & mango éclair – I love them all!

Starting clockwise from 12 o’clock: caramel éclair, chocolate éclair, vanilla éclair, cookies & cream éclair, cassis violet éclair, black sesame éclair, passion fruit & mango éclair, café éclair, gula melaka éclair, mac-lair (macadamia & chocolate), yam éclair, and cotton candy éclair.

Here’s a quick sum-up of the wonderful creations. Out of the twelve éclairs, my favourites were the passion fruit & mango, and chocolate éclair.

The passion fruit & mango éclair was like a burst of summer; I loved how the two flavours mingled in the mouth. The chocolate éclair also won our hearts. It had the right intensity, and was easily one of the best éclairs that I’ve had.

The vanilla éclair (pictured above), on the other hand, was a let-down. With the shiny gold leave surface, it was one of the prettiest éclairs, but we felt that the vanilla cream was a little over-burned.

For someone who is not a fan of yam, I thought that Chihuly Lounge’s rendition is pretty decent. But my dining companion felt that the use of yam in an éclair was rather weird. We also enjoyed the caramel, cookies & cream, cassis violet eclairs. The only ones that we didn’t really fancy were black sesame (the coating was too sweet), and café éclair (which had a rather weak coffee flavour).

Available from 2:30 to 5 p.m., Chihuly Lounge’s Summer Weekend Afternoon Tea is priced at $48 per adult (inclusive of freshly brewed and decaffeinated coffee and a selection of teas).

When my good friend was back in town during Christmas, we wanted to catch up over tea, so I suggested a few afternoon high tea places. Since it was the festive period, I tried to call to reserve a table, only to find out that all the hotel tea lounges were fully-booked that day.

After looking through my list of new places to go, we eventually settled for a nice little cafe at Holland Village. I’ve heard a lot about Foster English Rose Cafe, but somehow, I just never got the chance to drop by. I’m happy to say that I’m glad that I finally did.

I’m going straight to the point, because I don’t want to delay you from going down to Foster for tea. It is a lovely cafe to hang out with your friends, so remember to bookmark this post for your next outing.

Stepping inside Foster, we immediately fell in love with the rustic charm of the cafe. It’s quite difficult to describe it with words, so I’ll leave it to you to find out.

We ordered the Devonshire Cream Tea Set (served from 3pm to 6pm daily). At $11, it is probably one of the cheapest high tea sets in Singapore. What you see in the picture above is for two. So it’s actually not a lot of food. Each person gets two scones, one slice of cake, two finger sandwiches, and coffee/tea.

Served with jam, whipped cream and butter, the sturdy and dense scones were perfect. I lurveee the scones and I thought that the cake was also quite decent. The sandwiches, on the other hand, were mediocre and not worth mentioning.

Just so you know, Foster English Rose Cafe at Holland Village is also a steakhouse and they offer a variety of dishes on their ala carte menu: English Farmhouse Fare like Cottage Pie ($16), and Seared Yorkshire Pork Rack ($26); Steaks like US Black Angus Ribeye Steak ($42) and their signature Fillet Fantastique ($42); and other main courses like Pastas, Fish and Chicken.

What I’ve been wanting to say is, you should go to Foster not just because they have one of the cheapest high tea sets in Singapore, but also because they have a cosy and nice ambience which is perfect for a lazy afternoon. That is all you need to know. See you at Foster.
