Hansel & Gretel Singapore

Hansel & Gretel

You somehow know that you are in for a night of fun when the first line of the director’s message for the musical you are watching speaks of a nine-month old baby stuck to her boob.

That is exactly the kind of musical Hansel and Gretel is: hilarious, irreverent, spontaneous and like its director, Pam Oei, full of fun and creativity. Nothing binds the people of Singapore like their proud food culture, and what better way to showcase this love of food than through the quintessential food-centric fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel? Only this time, Creative Director Alfian Sa’at, Composer Elaine Chan and first time director Oei have reinvented this timeless tale into what could well be a Singapore’s classic.

Journey with Nestle to Switzerland

Switzerland

Visiting Nestle’s headquarters in Switzerland has got to be one of the highlights of my entire year. I mean, how often do you get a chance like that? Not only did we visit the headquarters, we also explored Vevey (a quaint little town by the Lake Geneva), visited the cheese factory, took a tour in Nestle Cailler chocolate factory, tasted Swiss cuisine, and enjoyed the magnificent scenery.

Nestle Headquarters

Nestle, as we all know, is the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company. Besides having lots of fun, I also had the privilege of learning more about the brand during this trip.

Guide to Shopping in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Guide

So they say, when in Hong Kong, just eat and shop all day long. It is true. Two of life’s greatest pleasures is what one should indulge in when taking a holiday in the Pearl of the Orient. Apart from the mass availability of food, there is a lot to shop too – shops by the streets, in random alleys, huge malls, night markets… I could use a shopping trip to Hong Kong on an annual basis.

Whether you are a fan of luxe fashion and high street labels, or have a thing or two for Taiwanese/ Japanese fashion, Hong Kong will not disappoint.

For a start, here is a Beginners’ Guide to Shopping in Hong Kong.

Prego Italian Restaurant Fairmont Singapore

Prego Restaurant

I’ve always walked past Prego Italian Restaurant when I am at Raffles City, but for some reason I never visited it. Thankfully, the good people at Fairmont Singapore invited me over for lunch, and I had a great meal there.

I wasn’t expecting much of Prego, if only because there are too many mediocre Italian restaurants in town, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was one of the better ones that I’d tried in recent months.

Nestle Celebrates 100 Years in Singapore

Nestle 100 Years

Last month, I had the chance to visit Nestle’s headquarters in Switzerland and it was a amazing trip as I learned so much about the brand.

Nestle, the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company, is a familiar name for everyone. From your favourite Milo, to KitKat and Smarties, to Nespresso and Maggi – these are products that have accompanied us for many years, and are firmly part of our daily lives.

This year, Nestle celebrates its 100 years in Singapore. It has built a special bond with Singaporeans by being present in our lives through the offering of nourishing products enjoyed by all in the family.

As part of its celebration, the company has started an initiative “Nestle 100 Wishes” to fulfil the wishes of 100 lucky people this year. It’s really nice to see a big company like Nestle giving back to the community.

Do drop by Nestle’s website to find out more about the 100 years celebration. Next week, I will be sharing more about our trip to Nestle’s headquarters and chocolate factory.

Full Disclosure & Fine Print: I travelled to Switzerland as a guest of Nestle and Finnair. No monetary benefits were received, only air tickets and hotel accommodations were sponsored.
