Tips for Travelling Alone

Solo Travel Tips

I recently travelled to New York City and it was my second time travelling by myself. I’m more of an outgoing person, so I wasn’t that apprehensive about it. But I know that for most people, travelling alone can be a really anxious thing, especially if one had to travel by herself, for example, if she was on a business trip and have some free time alone to wander about the city.

However, the good news is that travelling solo is not a bad thing at all; there are several advantages for it and further below are tips for travelling alone.

London’s Popular Brunch Spots

Nopi

No matter which part of the world you’re in, having brunch is always a decadent affair. The simple joy of being able to wake up late and fill your stomach with delectable food is an essential part of any lazy weekend. Especially in a place like London, where the weather is often gloomy, there’s no better place to take refuge from the rain, cold, and wind than a warm restaurant serving a good weekend brunch.

Luckily, for those of us residing in the city, the list of places to have brunch in London is extensive. With the company of a few fellow brunch enthusiasts, I have recently set out on a mission to try as many of these popular brunch spots in London. Here are the ones I have visited so far:

The Marmalade Pantry Singapore

Crabmeat Linguine

“Where can I have a meal for under $20 in town?” The answer: The Marmalade Pantry, but for a limited time only. Enjoy 1-for-1 on main courses (complimentary meal will be the lower value of the main course) during dinner every Monday from 6pm – 10pm.

A main course at Marmalade Pantry is around $20 to $28 (excluding the steak & eggs at $38). With the promotion, you pay less than $20 for each main course. For instance, the signature crabmeat linguine is $24, but you only pay $12++ after discount.

I think it’s a fantastic deal and everyone should drop by Marmalade Pantry at Ion Orchard before they end the 1-for-1 promotion. If you are planning to go next Monday, read my previous review on The Marmalade Pantry for more recommendations.

Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria Singapore

Capri

Located just a few units away from Pepperoni Pizza of Les Amis fame, one would question the viability of Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria at Binjai Park which similarly dishes up Italian classics. We were torn between safe and adventurous and were glad to be rewarded for picking Capri.

A waiter greets us at the door and leads us to a cosy corner. It’s homely and inviting and we instantly fall in love with this charming little Italian restaurant. Capri is as authentic as can be, with an artfully-styled brick-laid walls decorated with paintings reminiscent of what a restaurant in Italy would be like.

[Closed] Fukuichi Japanese Dining Singapore

Fukuichi Japanese Dining

Nestled in the quiet Triple One Somerset, Fukuichi Japanese Dining serves decent Japanese food at pocket-friendly prices. You can get set lunches such as Tempura Teishoku and Sashimi Teishoku from $20, while bento and dinner sets are between $25-40. I find it very reasonable for the quality and portion.

If I am meeting my friends in Orchard Road, I will definitely go to Fukuichi, it is my newest go-to place when craving for Japanese food.
