Editor’s Note July 2013

Bali

I am currently in Bali for two weeks, exploring great restaurants, staying at well-designed hotels and having the time of my life. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Bali which not only serve very good food, but also provide the complete dining experiences. Needless to say, I am eating very well here.

For July, we will be doing a special Bali feature where we bring to you comprehensive guides on the best restaurants to dine at, cafes to chill out at, spas for a relaxing break, and hotels for a much needed hideout.

Bali is only slightly less than 3 hours away from Singapore, and with cheap flights from airlines such as KLM and Qatar, there is really no reason to not come here for a getaway. I hope that with this feature, you will understand Bali on a whole new level and spark the travel desire in you.

We could always use an ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ holiday. Join us on our journey – on instagramtwitter and facebook – as we show you the best of what Bali has to offer.

Wild Honey Scotts Square Singapore

Wild Honey Scotts Square

Brunch is easily Singapore’s favourite meal. Fluffy pancakes drenched in maple syrup and accompanied by butter, Eggs Benedicts drowned in rich hollandaise sauce, or a hearty big breakfast of eggs, streaky bacons, sausages and toast – it is almost impossible to not like brunch.

In a city that has seen almost every restaurant and café serving brunch on weekends, Wild Honey has done remarkably well. It is one of the first few places that offers all-day brunch. It seems to have the right formula: brunch food made from produce that is sourced from the best in-season markets over the world – with very familiar flavours that would appeal to diners of all agw. There is no wonder both Wild Honey branches at Mandarin Gallery and Scotts Square are always packed.

Introducing Tucher Beer in Singapore + Giveaway of 5 Cartons of Beer

Advertorial
Tucher

On a hot summer day, especially like the merciless sun we have in Singapore, is the perfect time to have a cold beer down your throat. I have a typical guy’s appetite – I love food like pizzas, burgers, steaks and fried chicken, and the choice of drink will always be a pint of ice cold beer. Or should I say, there is always time for beer.

Beerfest Asia 2013 was concluded last week and I am sure beer lovers had a field day sampling more than 400 types of beers from all over the world. One of the beers that made its debut in Singapore is Tucher Beer. Not many people have heard of Tucher Beer, yet, as they have only started to distribute in the region recently. But if you enjoy your beer, and are always on the lookout for something new, you must try Tucher Beer.

There are many Bavarian beers, but only Tucher combines the venerable Bavarian brewing tradition with the consummate skill it takes to produce exquisite top-notch beers.

[ Giveaway ] Tucher Beer is partnering ladyironchef to give away 5 cartons of beer, so read on to find out how you can win them.

The Clan Restaurant Singapore

48 Hours Beef Short Ribs

Eating out in Singapore is getting considerably expensive. Nowadays, it is increasingly difficult to find a restaurant that serves good food at reasonable prices.

When I was at The Clan Restaurant for dinner, I was surprised to find out that it not only dishes out an extensive menu – with offerings of cold dish, side dish, soup, main course and dessert – that you really cannot go wrong with, but it is also relatively inexpensive given the quality of the food.

Hotel Éclat Taipei

Hotel Eclat

Most of the boutique hotels in Taipei are reasonably-priced, and you can easily find a place that is located in a convenient area like Taipei City Hall or Taipei Main Station. There are plenty of budget-friendly options, but if you are willing to pay a little more for accommodation, I would recommend Hotel Éclat in the Da-an district, which to me, is one of the top hotels in Taipei.

Burger & Lobster London

Burger & Lobster

The dining scene in London is very vibrant and there are so many good restaurants that it is almost impossible to keep up, even if you are living in the city. When I was doing my research for eating spots prior to the trip, one of the restaurants that kept popping out was Burger & Lobster – there are so many raved reviews about them online.

Of course, the question is: is the restaurant worth the hype? The answer is a big and undisputed YES. One of the most memorable meals that I had during my trip was at Burger & Lobster.
