It is not difficult to please a man – just give him the typical man’s comfort food like pizzas, burgers, fried food and steaks and he will grin from ear to ear. So, this Father’s Day, show your dad how much he means to you and bring him to one of the following dining destinations.
Here is our guide to Father’s Day Dinner in Singapore.
There are lots of interesting things about coffee that I want to share with you, so I worked with the good people from Infographic.SG - a data visualisation and infographic design agency by Edge Media – to come up with this visually appealing infographics to highlight some of the fun facts about coffee.

Have you ever had your hopes high up for a particular restaurant and the food was so good that it actually surpassed your expectations? It happened once for me, at a restaurant in Washington D.C. called Founding Farmers. If you are still skeptical of what I just said, here’s something interesting for you: Even first Lady Michelle Obama listed Founding Farmers as one of her favourite restaurants.
Chef Sam Leong needs no introduction. He is one of the most famous local chefs in Singapore, and he has an impressive list of accolades which includes being named the Chef of the Year at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Award in 2006 and 2007, and Asian Cuisine Chef of the Year (2009) by the World Gourmet Summit. After leaving Tung Lok Group, he has joined Resorts World Sentosa to open Forest Restaurant, which serves Chinese cuisine with a Western approach (in terms of food presentation).
The restaurant’s interior design is inspired by the lush tropical rain forests, and it is definitely one of the most stunning Chinese restaurants in Singapore.
At Forest, Chef Leong acts as a consultant, and besides providing guidance for the cuisine and menu planning of the restaurant, he also conducts cooking classes with his wife, Forest. He has launched a special culinary class combined with a four-course set lunch. This means to say you can have a nice lunch at the restaurant, and then move on to the culinary class in the beautiful state-of-the-art show kitchen to learn some tips from Chef Leong.
Nestled in the quiet Triple One Somerset, Fukuichi Japanese Dining serves decent Japanese food at pocket-friendly prices. You can get set lunches such as Tempura Teishoku and Sashimi Teishoku from $20, while bento and dinner sets are between $25-40. I find it very reasonable for the quality and portion.
If I am meeting my friends in Orchard Road, I will definitely go to Fukuichi, it is my newest go-to place when craving for Japanese food.
Note: Foodbar Dada at Robertson Quay has closed and they are currently relocating to a new location.
In Singapore, a city full of amazing restaurants, it really takes something outstanding to make me sit up and take notice. I am just going to say this once: visit Foodbar Dada – a Spanish tapas bar at Robertson Quay – before it gets too popular. Make a booking, and go there soon.
If you are into Spanish tapas, I can safely say that this is one place you must try.
Food For Thought Cafe is one of those places that immediately come to mind whenever someone asks me to recommend a place that serves decent food at affordable prices.
They have recently closed down their original branch at North Bridge Road, and shifted to a much bigger location at Singapore Botanic Gardens. Well, it is probably an understatement to say that it is much bigger. The new outlet can easily accommodate more than 200 people. This is definitely great news for regulars who always frequent the cafe.
It really makes me happy when readers tell me that they find my list posts useful, and they even go on a food adventure to try out all the places. Wow, thank you! So just a quick update, I’m currently researching (read: eating) things like best Mac & Cheese, Scones, Cupcakes, Tonkatsu (just to name a few), and I hope to share them with you soon.
