We’ve always griped about the fact that cafes are all about unhealthy food that are packed with sins, and all that talk about balanced diets almost does not exist. Most of the time, all we get is some sad-looking arugula on the side that honestly looks less appetising than grass, and we have reached the point of giving up on having our dose of fibre at cafes.
Then, Fresh Fruits Lab (FFL) at Changi Road came along, and we found hope all over again. This cafe is all about inculcating fresh fruits into their food and drinks! Well, as its name suggests, it prides itself as a heaven for all fruits lovers.
The whole space is fully utilised, with colours everywhere, and very artistic. Quirky displays fill the cafe, and we love how it feels like a hippy laboratory with the many apparatus on display. Even the drinks are served in test tubes and conical flasks!

One of the questions that I get from readers frequently is to recommend caterers that offer good and reliable service at reasonable prices. The next time you are looking for a caterer to feed your guests, we have a recommendation.
Foodline (www.foodline.sg) is a Singapore based catering review website that partners with over 50 caterers. We all know how challenging it is to organise an event, but when you search for your caterer via Foodline, life will be a lot easier because there are real reviews and photos by customers who have engaged the service of the caterers listed.
You can search for your ideal buffet catering by your budget, cuisine and requirement. Whether you are organising a mini buffet on a shoestring budget for a gathering, looking for a halal buffet caterer for your party, picking a high end caterer for your company’s corporate event, throwing a high tea for your baby’s first month, or choosing the right wedding caterers for your big day – Foodline will help you find the best buffet caterers in Singapore.
When your event is over, write a short review of the caterer’s service (with a photo) on Foodline to share with everyone your experience, and Foodline.sg will provide a cash reward (ranging from S$10 to S$30). Foodline.sg is also having a lucky draw where you can win S$500 worth of catering vouchers simply by joining their mailing list. Read here for more details. For the latest updates, ‘like’ Foodline on Facebook.

We had many great meals when we were in London last week, but the standout was the dinner that we had at Flat Iron Steak. It is one of those hip and trendy no-reservation restaurants that have been popping up all over Soho. If we had to describe Flat Iron Steak in just one word, it would be brilliant.
I had the chance to take part in the Food For Life TV Cook-off Challenge, and it was a very memorable experience. My job has given me priceless opportunities to try out many interesting roles – from leading food tour overseas to visiting a cognac factory in France, but to be filmed cooking live Master Chef style? Now, that is a first.
For those of you who do not know, Food For Life TV is Singapore’s very own food channel and it features a range of food-related videos like product reviews, celebrity recipes, kitchen products, and simple recipes that you can try at home. Watch the bloggers’ cook-off challenge at www.foodforlifetv.tv and read on to find out more what happened behind the scenes!
We have been to several spas in Bali, and while there is a great disparity between the shabby ones and the ones with impressive architectures, there is also a differentiation between the ones with good and better architectures. The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Bali boasts of one that is easily the nicest in the Jimbaran area, and the sheer space imprinted nothing but a fond impression and memory. The grandeur of its in-house spa is almost at the level of a destination spa, and though it is within the Four Seasons Resort Bali itself, stepping into the spa feels like stepping into a separate arena of luxury; a sanctuary of peace, relaxation and tranquility.
Brad and I have been discussing for the longest time for me to pen a column on Ladyironchef but it has always been more of a question of what than when.
Lately as Ladyironchef continue to stretch its imagination and break limits of what it can achieve with this humble rented space, many of you have been asking Brad on instagram or twitter how did he get to do what he’s doing today. It is very glamorous in many ways but it is hard, hard work and an arduous journey. And obviously one we have both not looked back since.
The wisdom in that is also in how just because when you get “to the top”, you will discover there is really nothing but hopefully plenty of life lessons learnt through the art of entrepreneurship. This is why it hit me that the best column we can have on Lady Iron Chef is one that will share (food) entrepreneurial lessons.
Bali is an ideal island for holidays of all sorts – partying at the most happening beach clubs and bars, dining at some of the top tables in Bali, enjoying a whole range of water sports like jet-skiing, diving or parasailing, or simply to have a nice and quiet spot to escape from the world.
If you are looking for a getaway in Bali to recharge yourself, the luxurious and spacious oceanfront villas at Four Seasons Resort in Jimbaran Bay is the top choice. Tucked at the end of Jimbaran Bay, it is one of Bali’s most exclusive hideaway resorts. Blessed with a spectacular view of the ocean, it s the kind of resort that would stop you in your tracks and take your breath away. Believe me when I say that it feels like a heaven. The word that describes the resort for me – apart from gorgeous and beautiful – is idyllic.
