All-you-can-eat seafood at competitive prices sound a little too good to be true? Well, IT ISN’T. J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore introduces four exciting buffet themes throughout the week at very unbelievable prices. Yes, four! And every single one is exhilarating, to say the least.
Offering an assortment of seafood-centric buffet dinners with four different themes, Hotel Jen’s J65 is back at it again. They range from Crab, Lobster, Seafood, International cuisine as well as a myriad of home-style dishes stemming from the multicultural cuisine of Singapore.
From now until 31 Oct 2017, quote ’ladyironchef’ upon making your reservation to enjoy an incredible spread of buffet dishes at the following prices:
International Buffet (Mon): S$89++ for two (U.P. S$55++ per pax)
Crab Galore (Tue): S$119++ for two (U.P. S$75++ per pax)
Lobster Rock-n-Roll (Wed & Thu): S$129++ for two (U.P. S$85++ per pax)
Seafood Mania (Fri, Sat & Sun): S$119++ for two (U.P. S$75++ per pax)
MONDAYS – INTERNATIONAL BUFFET
Say goodbye to Monday blues when you savour J65′s International buffet spread featuring a scrumptious array of roast meats including Slow Roast Prime Beef Ribs with Roasted Potato and Butter Vegetables and Roasted Pork Knuckle.
Stuff yourselves silly with a myriad of sushi and sashimi. Although the spread was not the most extensive, we were still content. Not discounting the fact that the salmon sashimi was cut thick, making it a joy to chew into.
For something closer to home, camp at the Chicken Satay station for piping hot skewers and the DIY Rojak Bar where you can mix as many ingredients as you like!
Of course, seafood lovers are not excluded in this wonderful feast! You can look forward to a range of seafood selection such as crab, prawn and mussel on ice. And there is the Slow Baked Whole Salmon that we loved for its freshness and flaky, runny pink flesh!

TUESDAYS – CRAB GALORE
A special shoutout to J65′s newest buffet theme that will excite all crab lovers! Crab Galore is where you will find all kinds of crab specialities under one roof. There are 10 different flavours for you to try so be prepared to be spoilt for choice.
Considering the immense variety of crab dishes available, we’d say it is definitely worth every buck. The cold spread comprised the massive Snow Crab and the Mud crabs. Its simple preparation method really allowed us to savour the natural sweetness of the flesh. SO GOOD.
The scene stealer of the night goes to the Chef Signature ‘Kam Heong’ Style Crab—it was a joy peeling the fresh meat off the shells and indulging its firm texture with fragrant Kam Heong sauce.
Do not forget to try the Singapore Chili Crab, Crab And Egg Au Gratin, Black Pepper Crab and Indian Crab Curry. If you have room for more, we would recommend the Chili Crab Pasta, Crab Popiah and Soft Shell Crab Maki as well.
But the one that stood out the most was definitely the Salted Egg Crab. The salted egg sauce was silky, smooth, and incredibly flavourful. Contrary to popular stigma that salted egg dishes are generally heavy, we were surprised that despite the sauce being robust, it was still kept relatively light.
We also love J65 for its open kitchens where the chefs will whip up special dishes of the day a la minute.
The Crab Laksa ‘live’ station is one that Singaporeans will be making many rounds to. A simple laksa recipe but made better with the addition of fleshy crabs—this is comfort food brought to the next level.
Tandoori Crabs sure are delicious and you can get them piping hot from J65′s ‘live’ kitchen too. The crabs are first marinated and left in the tandoor to cook before they are served to you.

WEDNESDAYS & THURSDAYS – LOBSTER ROCK-N-ROLL
Lobster Rock-N-Roll is undisputedly the most popular theme at J65. It is an encore from the previous theme for it is well-loved and boasts an exhilarating array of lobster treats in many different types of flavours.
The menu is anything but modest. Help yourselves to an endless supply of Boston, Bamboo and Slipper lobsters in an assortment of cooking styles—Lobster with Percik Sauce, Singapore Chili Lobster, ‘Kam Heong’ Style Lobster, Tandoori Lobster, Traditional Herbal Broth with Lobster and more.
The one lobster delight that went above and beyond was the Baked Lobster Thermidor. Baked with a generous portion of cheese after being stuffed with mushrooms, this lobster delight was so addictive and was definitely deserving of endless praise.
The purists will have a wonderful time trying the fresh Boston Lobsters On Ice. Personally, we feel that it is not necessary to add condiments as the sweet lobster meat tastes great on its own.

FRIDAYS TO SUNDAYS – SEAFOOD MANIA
The hectic week has come to end at last, and what better way to cap it off than to indulge lavishly in a delectable spread of seafood? This exceptional spread is your solace after a dreary week at work/ in school.
‘Seafood Mania’ showcases a magnificent spread of different seafood dishes. Fresh seafood on ice options include Boston Lobsters, Snow Crabs, Prawns, Fin de Claire Oyster and Mussels.
Beyond that, you can indulge in Singapore Chili Crab, Seafood Paella, Oyster Omelette, Seafood Thermidor, Fish Head Curry and Squid Masala.
Continue the extravaganza with more seafood dishes, prepared in both Asian and Western ways at the hot station.
The best part of Seafood Mania is the live oyster station. Enjoy freshly shucked oysters all the way from France and you do not have to be shy; just eat to your heart’s content!

J65′S FAMED DESSERT SHRINE
The dessert section at J65 is no ordinary feat. In fact, we deem it as the shrine because much effort is taken to plan and put together a spread so irresistible and mind-blowing.
From western cakes to freshly baked Nonya Kuehs, tarts and mousses and an assortment of traditional Potong ice cream flavours… did we also mention that there is a dessert drawer where you can pick out puddings, jellies and other jars of sweet treats, too? Believe us when we say, resistance is futile over here because there are just too many options to choose from!
If you love the King of Fruits, you will be delighted to know that J65 has an excellent Durian Pengat which is a long-standing favourite since its starting days.
