In 2018 alone, there have been multiple instances where we have witnessed Singaporeans’ relentless patience to queue for overseas brands who have made their debuts in Singapore, including famous Korean toast chain Isaac Toast, original cheese tea inventor HEYTEA, and Austrian bakery specialising in devil cheese buns, Guschlbauer.

Keep your eyes peeled and your calendars marked because come late November, famous Hokkaido soft serve shop Naganuma Ice is slated to open in Singapore’s Carlton City Hotel.

Known to be Hokkaido’s most sought-after soft serve brand, the brand specialises in soft serves and gelato and always sees queues of almost an hour long. Distinctively the sole Hokkaido firm certified by the prefecture’s authorities for using raw Hokkaido milk in their ice cream products, their milky goodnesses is quite possibly the best in Naganuma itself.

Founded in 1994, Naganuma Ice prides themselves on using milk that is sourced from ranch cows near Naganuma town before being transported immediately to the brand’s factory for low-temperature pasteurisation, making sure that every cone boasts an intense milky flavour.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

While we prefer it au naturel with a slightly bitter aftertaste, you get to choose the amount of sugar to add in should you prefer it to be sweeter.

If a cold drink is what you are looking for to cool off from the heat, their Iced Genmaicha Latte (S$6) is a decent choice. It came with the right balance of cold, creamy milk and rich genmaicha powder which resulted in a robust flavour.

All beverages are made on the spot upon order and right in front of you, so you get to see the different techniques used to create your drink.

Yes, we are finally at the best part—Matcha Soft Serve. Served in two different sizes, the original cup goes for S$5 and you can get the large one for S$6.50. We honestly could not find a reason to dislike this sweet treat; it came with an intense matcha flavour and is really refreshing!

Besides matcha, the cafe also offers Cold Brew Soft Serve as well.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Hong Kong’s foodie scene is very much integrated into Singaporeans’ lifestyles and we are somewhat witnessing the migration of a Hong Kong food-and-beverage brand into Singapore every other month.

Small Potatoes Ice Creamery is interestingly called Small Potato Ice Creamery in Hong Kong – but never mind the slight tweak of name in its branding.

Located in the basement of Novena Square 2, Small Potatoes Ice Creamery’s menu consists of delicious Japanese purple yam ice cream and Japanese sea salt ice cream. Customers can choose to add a myriad of unique ingredients such as brownies, crispy rice, doriyaki, mochi, popcorn and Japanese cheesecake to their soft serve at additional charges per topping.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

As its name implies, the portions at Small Potatoes Ice Creamery are indeed tiny and we have to admit that prices for its sizes are considered rather pricey. Customers can expect to pay between S$5 and S$9.50 for an ice-cream cone and Small Potato Party Cup respectively.

A Small Potato Party Cup comprises purple potato soft serve served with purple yam powder, Japanese purple yam paste, warabi green tea mochi and shiratama dango. The velvety ice-cream is delightfully creamy and its smoothness is well contrasted with real bits of purple yam.

Yam lovers now have a specialty outlet to turn to when they need a desserts fix!

Taste Better – Malaysia’s popular One-Bite durian puff is now available in Singapore.

This should be great news for many because durian is such a well-loved tropical fruit and any durian product always gets everyone excited. Fans of Taste Better’s one-bite durian puffs can finally have them here in Singapore without crossing the causeway!

There are currently two places in Singapore where you can get your hands on these awesome one-bite durian puffs – one at VivoCity and one at Punggol Waterway Point.

From now till 13 June 2016, our readers can quote “ladyironchef” to enjoy a 1-for-1 promotion on Taste Better’s 2pcs Durian Puff pack. This simply means you will get 4 durian puffs for the price of 2.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
// ]]>

The puffs are a definite treat. If you are a durian enthusiast, the fillings inside these puffs will not disappoint you. The puff is freshly baked daily, soft and fluffy, complementing the durian-rich inner filling very well.

It has no preservative, so recommended to consume same day for best taste. They are your solution to parties and events. Of course, as a casual snack too!

Unlike other durian puffs you usually find in Singapore, be sure to pop this entire puff into your mouth in one bite to experience the unique “exploding” sensation of the puff!

Other than its iconic Durian Puff, Taste Better also offers the puffs in two other flavours – Soursop and Yogurt. The soursop and yogurt ones would be ideal for those who are healthy food eaters .

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Haven’t heard of this waffle bar? Business started back in May this year for Hvala, serving thin waffle on a stick. Sure, it is pretty, but ‘gai dan zai’ soft serve is still sexier and we definitely gravitate towards that more.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Hvala Waffle Bar’s rendition comes with vanilla soft serve in a cup, egglet (or what we all know as ‘gai dan zai’), and two toppings of your choice – koko crunch, muesli, fruits and fruity pebbles are a few to name. An Egg Waffle Soft serve with two toppings is S$6.90.

Admittedly, this is a direct copy of the famous Oddies Foodies in Hong Kong. Oddies Foodies’ version is much more sophisticated and well-balanced with a good mix of contrasting ingredients – think panna cotta, brownie and fruits – whereas Hvala Waffle Bar has kept theirs a lot simpler, and free for you to customize and ‘play up’.

We love how Hvala has so many different types of sauces to pick from; maple, chocolate and speculoos are a few to boast. But when it comes to the soft serve, it still has a lot more to catch up with Oddies’.

We have to wait and see if Hvala Waffle Bar can emulate the success of Oddies Foodies to start a new wave of egg waffle soft serve trend here in Singapore.

For now – trend or fad? You decide.

Located strategically along Bali Lane, taking over the space of the now-defunct Honeycomb, Brother Bird is a brand new concept by the folks behind Stateland Cafe. They are probably no strangers by now, for they have been dominating the social media platforms with their ultra adorable looking soft serve.

Soft serve is definitely here to stay and we are loving it. Those bright green coloured swirls of goodness that you have seen around? Yipe, they are amazing.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

On our plate, we were greeted by the ingenious ‘mochi donut’. Co-owner, lovingly nicknamed ‘Bird’, told us that when he first experimented with his donut recipes, he realised that the donut turned soggy very quickly with the soft-serve sitting on top. Hence, he used glutinous flour instead for the mochi-like texture, which is truly brilliant.

We picked a dual swirl of the two flavours to accompany our mochi donut, and it was topped off with crushed speculoos, kinako powder and crushed freeze-dried raspberries. All their toppings and condiments are freshly made in store.

We were amazed to see Matcha Lemonade (S$4.90) on the menu, two flavours that we never knew would go well together, but they did. However, it is definitely an acquired taste.
