Candour Coffee – A Taste of Melbourne in Singapore

candour coffee sg

Previously located along Beach Road, Candour Coffee—a Melbourne-inspired specialty coffee shop—has shifted to 72 Duxton Road and it is a spot that all coffee lovers have to check out. The minimalistic cafe directly imports their beans from Dukes Coffee Roasters and Market Lane Coffee. For those not the in the know, these two roasteries hail from Melbourne and are exceptionally popular for their high-quality blends.

Melburnian coffee aside, Candour Coffee’s menu also features a selection of MAN CHA teas, wholesome savouries, delectable sweet treats and alcoholic drinks! We dropped by one weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their cuppas.

Burger Joint – Famous New York Burger Restaurant Opens In Singapore

Burger Joint

New York’s cloak-and-dagger burger restaurant – Burger Joint – makes its debut in Singapore this week, with its first outlet at Amoy Street. The outlet will have a similar inconspicuous entry point, with a back entrance on Gemmill Lane instead of a flashy store front.

This follows their signature style, with their first outlet in New York City – at Le Parker Meridien – mysteriously located behind a curtain of the hotel lobby. Opening on 03 May 2016, the Singapore outlet will be their sixth outlet worldwide.

[Closed] BurgerUP – Homegrown DIY Burger Joint at Waterway Point

Burger Up Burger

BurgerUP is a homegrown fast food burger joint that has recently opened its second outlet in Singapore at Waterway Point in Punggol. The concept is simple – to bring gourmet-style burgers in a quick and fuss-free style.

However, what sets it apart from your typical fast food chain is the quality of ingredients used to elevate every burger. You can D.I.Y your own burger, and everything is done and ordered from a touch-screen menu located at the front of the shop. Worry not about queues as there are at least 5 of these menus available.

We saw a big range of burgers and even rice dishes (yes, we are not kidding!) here, with sides such as fries, nuggets and wings. BurgerUP sure is a great new place to check out.

Fresh Fruits Lab

It is no secret that Fresh Fruits Lab (FFL) is our go-to cafe in the East of Singapore, and since its opening, we have been loyally patronising the cafe for its ever-satisfying menu.

Of course, we love that the place is nicely done up too. If you haven’t been, what you are missing out on is a colourful space that is decorated to look like the coolest laboratory you will ever see.

[Closed] MEATliquor’s First Overseas Outpost In Singapore – Fab or Fad?

meat liquor

Update: MEATliquor Singapore has officially closed.

With several outlets across the U.K. and now Singapore too, MEATliquor has really come a long, long way.

The world-famous burgers had its humble beginnings; they were served right out of a van in a car park at Peckham, South London in 2009. Today, award-winning MEATliquor is one of the most established brands for burgers in the competitive food industry.

MEATliquor’s burgers have became quite a legend at its place of origin, where the Brits would queue up for more than an hour in the freezing winter just to get their hands on a burger! Like every other enthusiastic foodie, we were thrilled to experience what MEATliquor in Singapore has to offer. Was it going to live up to its hype or would it be a disappointing fad?

Everything with Fries – Har Jeong Kai Burger & The New Ice Cream Accident

Everything with Fries

Having been in the scene for almost 6 years now, Everything with Fries is a familiar name to most. A bistro concept by the folks behind renowned local chocolate brand Awfully Chocolate, you can be absolutely sure that the folks put in the same amount of dedication and precision in their food here.

Do not be confused with their (even more) casual concept at Orchard Central (OC). EwF is presented in more of a grab-and-go fast food style, whereas Everything with Fries at Holland Village is more of a sit-down, table-service style and a tad more refined.

Of soups, salads and desserts, here is what we loved about Everything with Fries at Holland Village.

Exclusive to Ladyironchef readers: flash this post or quote ‘Ladyironchef’ to receive a complimentary cup of Nutella Shake (worth S$8), limited to one free cup per receipt (valid till 31 December 2015).
