All Day Breakfast at eM by the River Robertson Quay

eM by the river Singapore

The original plan was to have churros at Alegro Clark Quay, unfortunately it was closed and the churros evaded me yet again. We walked along the river banks and found ourselves looking at the brunch menu from eM by the River. They serve all day breakfast (from 9am to 3pm daily), and we managed to make it for the last order.

I have been wanting to visit eM by the River for some time. They are one of the Gallery Hotel restaurants, positioned at one end of Robertson Quay (closer to Red House Seafood restaurant and Boomarang if you have difficulty locating them).

Fortune Seafood Steamboat Chinese Zhi Char Restaurant

Salted Egg Yolk Crab

Reading Food Blogs and watching food shows are among my favorite pastimes. Food blogs with delicious photos and intriguing words have the ability to suck me in for hours, while food shows are somewhat more direct – they make me hungry instantly. I’m sure many of you are currently hooked to Sizzling Woks, the popular food show on the best zhi char eating places in Singapore.

I’m not surprised because I get many requests to blog more about cheap and good Zhi Char in Singapore all the time. Today, I will like to share about one of the Zhi Char restaurants in Singapore that my family always go to: B.K Fortune Seafood Steamboat restaurant. They are located just a few steps away from Bar Bar Black Sheep along Bukit Timah road (towards King Albert Park direction after Sixth Avenue).

Old Airport Road Food Centre Singapore

Katong Ah Soon Fried Oyster

The Singapore Food Scene is getting very exciting with the opening of Celebrity chef restaurants, and many new dining concepts. But when my overseas friends ask me for recommendation on what to eat in Singapore, or what is the true Singaporean cuisine, I’d definitely reply: Hawker Food.

With the exception of places like Newton Circus, Lau Pa Sat & Chomp Chomp Hawker Centre, the prices of food in the other food centre usually are around $2-3. You are going to be shocked by this, but my last visit to Old Airport Road Food Centre was actually a few years ago, before the renovation. I need someone to scold me for taking so long to revisit this wonderful place, which undoubtedly is one of the best Hawker Centres in Singapore.

Ootoya Orchard Central Japanese Restaurant Singapore

Ootoya Japanese Restaurant Singapore

As I was walking in Orchard Central, I suddenly realized that it is actually a pretty nice place for dining. First of all, Orchard Central is relatively quiet compared to the other shopping malls in Orchard Singapore, and most importantly, there are a lot of restaurants in Orchard Central!

The funny thing is: Ootoya Japanese Restaurant is the only restaurant in Orchard Central that has a queue. In case you are wondering how to find a way around this, no, they don’t take reservations. You need to be there early before lunch/dinner time, or just wait (at least) twenty-thirty minutes for a table.

Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie Desserts Singapore

Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie

Updated on 25 Aug 2014: Canele Patisserie is now closed.

I have been eating a lot of cakes recently. Hold on, please allow me to rephrase that: I eat a lot of cakes all the time, but recently, I have been having them way too often.

Canele Patisserie currently has three locations: Robertson Walk, Orchard Paragon and Shaw Centre. It has been a long time since my last visit, but it’s mainly because I wanted to check out the other patisseries in Singapore. Are you game for more cakes?
