All hail Deliveroo – the newest restaurant food delivery service that is taking flight in Singapore.
It has only been two months since its launch in town, but it is already our new favourite app for food delivery. Now, if you are thinking that it is just another delivery service now, you might have to take your words back.
Unlike the ubiquitous pizza and fast food delivery, Deliveroo strives to bring restaurants’ finesse and quality to your home – all at a flat rate of S$3 per delivery. Think proper meals of piping hot Japanese Curry Rice and Sticky Date Pudding (with ice cream no less); Deliveroo is a one-of-its-kind service, and it will forever change the way you look at food delivery.
You have to join us on this journey, and to get you started, readers of ladyironchef can use the promo code “LICROO” to get S$20 off your first order on Deliveroo. That is tantamount to a free lunch!
RETHINK FOOD DELIVERY WITH REFINED MENUS AND FINESSE
Food delivery is often associated with fast food, but Deliveroo has completely reinvented the idea by offering food delivery from top restaurants and cafes instead. Yes, you no longer have to settle for less-than-best food if you do food delivery.
Lazy to head out? You can still enjoy crispy truffle fries and warm sticky date pudding from PS.Cafe, cheesy steak sandwiches from Park Bench Deli, a bowl of piping hot beef pho from Pho Stop, and many more. Why, these may all sound impossible! How are delivered fries not soggy and instead, still boast the distinct crisp? How can the sticky date pudding stay warm and the ice cream not melted – what sorcery?! How can my pho not bloat up in the soup and still taste like what it would taste at the restaurant?
Right, we hear you. And we’ve tested it out. Deliveroo will really make that happen for you. We will show you how.
FOOD DELIVERY IN 11 NEIGHBOURHOODS AROUND SINGAPORE
Deliveroo currently services customers in 11 neighbourhoods – mainly in Central Business District, Katong, Bukit Merah, Novena, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Serangoon, Bedok, and Kallang.
By the end of the first quarter in 2016, Deliveroo will be offering its service island-wide!
THE CUTE KANGAROO WILL DELIVER YOUR FOOD TO YOU IN 32 MINUTES
Heck, even fast food takes an average of 50 minutes to deliver!
The average order by Deliveroo takes 32 minutes to be delivered. We tried ordering truffle fries and sticky date pudding from PS.Cafe and it came in an unbelievable time of 9 minutes. We also ordered from several other restaurants, and most of our orders actually came within 20-25 minutes.
What makes Deliveroo different is that it only delivers within the same neighbourhood. If you are working in the Central Business District, Deliveroo will only deliver food from restaurants and cafes within the area so as to ensure that your order reaches you in the shortest time possible, while keeping your food piping hot and retaining its quality such as it tastes exactly like what it would if you were to dine in at the restaurant(s).
It gives you access to the best food place within your neighbourhood. All of us have our lazy days, and it can be quite a hassle to get changed just to go get food.
With Deliveroo, you can enjoy your favourite meals comfortably at home in your pajamas. And honestly, the time taken to wait for your food at home is shorter than the time taken to dress up and drive out!
Life-changing. Good game, Deliveroo.
SUPER EASY TO USE
Having experienced Deliveroo for ourselves – we tried ordering via mobile and on our desktop – we are sold by the seamless interface and usability.
Simply punch in your postal code, and the filter will display the restaurants within delivery range. You can further filter by the cuisines, too.
You are then three clicks away from your order – select the item(s) you want and add to cart, verify your payment details (all of which you could register in your account so that you do not have to reenter your credit card details all the time), then click to confirm your order. That’s it! Your food will be on its way to you.
If you order via mobile (which we prefer), you can even track your Rooman to see his whereabouts! There will be a map which showcases a live tracking on where your Rooman is, and how long more it takes to reach you.
MORE THAN 300 RESTAURANTS IN SINGAPORE TO CHOOSE FROM
Deliveroo has more than 300 restaurants in their Singapore family, and they range from healthy salad joints, burger places, snack kiosks and premium restaurants.
A few popular ones to note are Cedele, Chopsuey Cafe, Kinki Restaurant + Bar, Meat Liquor, Nandos, Jollibean, The Cajun Kings, Potato Head Folk and PS.Cafe. And they are constantly adding new restaurants to the list.
You see? We told you food delivery doesn’t need to mean pizza and icky fast food anymore!
A FLAT DELIVERY RATE OF S$3 PER ORDER
Yes, you read that right. Just S$3 per order. That’s like McDonald’s!
If you are ordering from multiple places though, it would be S$3 x the number of places you are ordering from. Note that the delivery fee is by per order per place. And if your order is less than S$25, the delivery fee will be S$5 instead.
CASHLESS PAYMENT SYSTEM
Like most e-commerce sites these days, you can “add” your credit card(s) in to your account. The system will simply prompt you to choose the credit card to bill to. It cannot get any simpler, really.
FOOD DELIVERY TO YOUR OFFICE
No time to head out for lunch because you need to stay in the office to complete some work? Organising lunch for the team? Raining outside and it is such a hassle to head out to grab food?
Deliveroo is your answer to all.
The most number of restaurants are listed within the CBD, and you might just be spoiled by the choices and have lunch delivered to you more than you step out! Well, this is what is happening to our friends who work in the CBD already. Convenience at its best, and so much time saved from commuting and queuing up!
NO MORE WAITING IN LINE
Queuing up for food is a national hobby in Singapore, but when you use Deliveroo, you can satisfy your cravings without waiting in line. Let’s face it - no one truly enjoys queuing up and waiting for seats, right?
YOU CAN PLACE ORDER(S) IN ADVANCE TOO
If you have a team lunch the next day, or a home party to host, you can schedule orders for up to one day in advance and choose any delivery time from midday onwards that suits you best. Easy peasy.
No last minute scrambling, no chance to “forget” to order when all your hungry guests are waiting.
