The Stones Hotel in Legian is the first Autograph Collection hotel in Asia to be managed by Marriott. It sits on the strip of Legian, which is a stone’s throw away from Kuta, and also a short drive to Seminyak.

Lagoon Pool

In the day, The Stones is a beach resort where you can hang out and frolic under the sun with some ice cold beer. It is so easy to just spend a day at the beautiful blue-tiled lagoon pool, or laze by the hammocks and be lost in your favorite book. At night, the hotel transforms into a sexy party scene, with dim and romantic lighting and chic lounge music.

W Retreat & Spa Bali

W Hotel is the IT place to stay in Bali. It has that “X-factor” that cannot be replicated and this is why everyone — from well-heeled travellers, to love-struck couples seeking a romantic spa retreat, and families on their annual vacation — goes to W Hotel when they are in Seminyak.

Woo Bar

The restaurants and bars in the property are effortlessly chic and attribute to the whole W experience. Party-goers head to Woo Bar, undisputedly one of the hippest bars in Bali. Starfish Bloo – the hotel’s signature restaurant and seaside beach club – serves Pan-Asian cuisine in a classy and stylish setting. Fire is a casual grill restaurant that boasts a stunning interior, and contrary to its name, it makes you feel cool just by dining there. And of course, it is a must to go for a spa session at W’s iconic and world-famous AWAY spa.

W Bali Ocean View Room

The irresistible charm and the impeccable service of W Retreat & Spa Bali make it all too difficult to get out of the resort. Once you are there, you will never want to leave.

i’m indonesian that lived for a long time in singapore. bali is one of favorite place to visit. i visit it up to 4 times a year, and 3 times this year already!!

i’ve stayed in all of these except the stones hotel. i think the four seasons, le meridien are pretty old hotels and there are many better ones if u are looking at jimbaran / nusa dua areas.

Mulia Bali, just opened in Jan 2013 is one of my favorite! i’ve stayed there twice out of 3 times this year (once in the normal room and once in a villa). the service and food is excellent, and its beach beautiful.

W hotel is very overpriced and unless you like to go Potato Head twice a day, i really dont suggest anyone to stay there! i’ve only stayed there once and never went back. there are tons of great local hotels in the Seminyak / Legian area.

another of my favorite for secret escapades is Banyan Tree in Ungasan. i suggest you try that next time! it is an all villa resort with a million dollar cliff views from your villa. if you have extra cash to spare, try the massive 3 bedroom villas, that we hear, the owner only lets out one out of two built, and kept 1 for his own use.

Just returned from Ubud. Stayed at the Maya 27 June – 2 July 2013. Awesome! Biking, rafting, etc. Love the Nasi Goreng. Cannot wait to go back. I am American living in Japan, so just a 7 hour flight.

Agree with one of the previous comment that Mulia Bali is my favorite hotel thus far! Just newly opened and really popular with locals from all over the Indonesian archipelago. Perhaps you could do a review next time you’re there!

Forget about hotels in Bali, even the Starwood group. I am Singaporean and have been traveling to Bali at least 3 times a year since my wedding there in 2008. Private villas are the way to go. Try to rent those with 3 to 7 bedrooms. You won’t regret. Banyan, although lovely when I stayed, is still operating like a hotel outfit. Private villas are owned by individual owners and they rent them out when not in use by owners. They come with car, driver, chef, buttlers, gardeners, etc. You can see some photos of these from my visits on my instagram, Pei02.

COMO Shambhala Estate is also a gorgeous place! Always a good place to wind down after a adrenaline pumping trip. Should check it out. :) Bali probably has some of the most consistently good waves in the world. You should rent a board and paddle out there sometime
