Craving for ice cream
January 28, 2010 | 93 Comments

I have a problem when it comes to ice cream. You see, I tend to stick to places that I’m comfortable with: like Island creamery, U.d.d.e.r.s, and Haato. So I decided that I need to try out more ice cream parlours this year, especially so when there’s so many new ice cream places in Singapore.
Vanilla bean, chocolate, cookie & cream, durian, strawberry, hazelnut, lemon sorbet, rum & raisin, orange chocolate, tiramisu, baileys, chunky monkey, cherry, salted caramel, earl grey, pistachio, matcha, sesame, and nutella. Whichever flavor it is, I hope that you are eating it.
I’m deeply in love with ice cream, for a split moment of insanity, I thought that she might actually like me back. Ice cream is always irresistible; it’s like dew drops to a thirsty man in the desert, like air after being underwater for a long time, like sex to the forty year old virgin, like that Gucci bag to the fashionista – it is love.
I hope this list of ice cream parlours in Singapore will help on your hunt for the perfect scoop. Because ice cream will never let you down.

this is such an amazing list
January 28th, 2010 @ 3:43 am
did you make the ice-cream diagram brad? its amazing!! and your list – i’m saving this in my favourites too. now i know i’m gonna be all fulled up on ice-cream and dim sum when i head back to SG. can’t wait. (: xx
January 28th, 2010 @ 5:51 am
Wow! Thanks for the list. You missed out Scoopz?(I think thats what its called) The one at the basement of Parkway Parade, just next to Borders.
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:47 am
woah. awesome!
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:49 am
Wow this is really quite a list Brad! I am craving for ice cream just by reading it. Love the diagram as well… Oh, how apt too – “Ice cream is always irresistible; it’s like dew drops to a thirsty man in the desert, like air after being underwater for a long time, like sex to the forty year old virgin, like that Gucci bag to the fashionista – it is love.”
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:51 am
i am still a daily scoops die hard fan.
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:57 am
a mindmap about ice-cream cravings? haha..
awesome list! i’m tempted to go try ‘Once Upon A Milkshake’.
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:57 am
harris: thanks dude, saw your entry on blic and added it in
Shirin: Yep, the ice cream diagram is done by me : ) Okay, just wait till you come back, ice cream and dim sum everyday!
SAHM: haha yea, just added it in, thanks for letting me know
Angeline: which is your next-to-try-one?
Josephine: We never know there’s so many ice cream parlors in Singapore right?
m.Ru: Speaking of that, it’s been a long time since my last visit to daily scoop
Sarah: Yeah, my mindmap is to get people eat more ice cream, hopefully. haha
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:00 am
Blic Ice Cream Cafe is nothing fantastic. it’s a mimic to ice cream chef and udders. totally not worth the time, the money and the calories.
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:19 am
Hey Brad, how about Icekimo at Sinming area? :>
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:27 am
awesome list. i cannot imagine how can anyone not love ice cream? :p
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:28 am
Kelly: mimic or not, nice to have if you’re in the area =)
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:31 am
Brad: Daily Scoop at Sunset Way had an electrical fire, not sure if they’re renovated it yet. Still another branch at Chip Bee.
January 28th, 2010 @ 11:37 am
Thanks for compiling this list, its going to come in HANDY!
January 28th, 2010 @ 1:18 pm
ooo… yummy!
you can pack some for me on your way home from ice cream tasting!
the other day when I went to the Daily Scoop at Sunset Way, there’s a notice that they have moved out.
January 28th, 2010 @ 2:07 pm

January 28th, 2010 @ 7:13 pm
HAHHA awesommmeeee flow chart!! Works for me ^^!
January 28th, 2010 @ 9:21 pm
I love that entire mindmap thing you craft out. So witty!
Annnnd. in my opinion, i honestly think Udders i so-so. Island creamery can beat it hands down anytime. Of course, not to say Haagen Dazs and Ben&Jerry’s!
January 28th, 2010 @ 10:42 pm
Such a romantic way of describing ice-cream!
January 28th, 2010 @ 11:11 pm
thanks for sharing with us all about ice creams.
I tried this shop called summerfrost at katong area last week. not sure if i would exactly call it ice cream.. but very interestiing too. they have a website and facebook too.. hehe.. i am now a fan.

I scream, You scream, We all scream for ICE CREAM!
January 28th, 2010 @ 11:54 pm
I hope ice-cream parlous aren’t becoming the next big fad, like donuts and bubble tea.
January 29th, 2010 @ 12:15 am
haha tt flow chart made me burst out in laughter! creative idea. thumbs up! i can so identify with ur ice cream craving. ice cream is something i will happily have a scoop of everyday if it doesn’t make me fat. now u made me decide to reach for that pint of udders baileys and bourbon in my fridge!
January 29th, 2010 @ 1:19 am
Kelly: Tampines don’t really have much options when it comes to ice crema?
Ele: Thanks dear, added it in : )
Danghl: you will be surprised, i know of people who dont really like it. so sad
Harris: Oh i see, yeah i know abt the chips bee one
Terry: which one are you trying next?
Phil: Really? they confirm moving out eh?
Jiaying: is it good? I only tried their soya milk and pancakes so far
Stef: welcome, which one are you eyeing?
Ffichiban: It’s very good reasoning right? Completely logical!
Rachel: hehe thank you! it’s pretty logical, just follow my heart. hehe yeah island creamery is one of my fav, been there Nth time already
Ju: I just like to see things in a different way. hee
Oriana: Glad you like the list. Is that ice cream? looks like the taiwan ice? I like the quote, everyone shall scream for ice cream!
Alkanphel: Hopefully not, since everyone love ice cream. Keep our finger cross
poisonivy: It works? HAHA that’s my idea of a laugh. Udders baileys? why are you not sharing?

Weiling: thanks, is this your first visit? drop by often yeah : )
January 30th, 2010 @ 12:43 am
wanting to try udders
January 30th, 2010 @ 7:39 am
you can try~ i love it~
January 31st, 2010 @ 12:50 pm
Harris & ironladychef: yes yes there aren’t many options in the area but I would rather spend it on a decent pint from B&J than from sumthing that is very sub standard
February 2nd, 2010 @ 12:16 am
kelly, wah u seem like a spy lo, no offend.. haha just feel tat its kinda weird wer everybody is toking how much they love ice cream n etc.. but u like straight to the point.. haha.. anyway i m a fan of scoopz which is located at parkway.. thought their flavour is of no creativity.. but i hv been eating it since i was young.. like their mango, grape ice cream alot!! as for B&J ice cream, i onli like the fish food.. anyway ang mo ice cream are just too sweet for me.. i stil prefer local ice cream.. hehe..
February 2nd, 2010 @ 12:26 am
Hello Kelly & Johnson: No worries, everyone have their own favorite choices, there’s no right/wrong answers. But be it local ice cream parlor, or the ‘imported’ ones like B&J/haagan daz, I’m glad that you guys are enjoying the ice cream : )
February 2nd, 2010 @ 2:01 am
Kelly: “mimic to ice cream chef and udders”? so they have a lot of flavours like udders and they do mixed in like ice cream chef? Interesting, might be able to check it out next week as i have a meeting with TP HR department, which is near.
Anyway my favourite place is Tom’s Palette, definitely must buy if i am around the area. Seasalt Cheesecake and Granny’s Favourite are my favourite.
American brand like haagen-dazs and B&J is too sweet, so i am glad that there are more local ice cream palour coming up which caters more for the local.
February 2nd, 2010 @ 10:52 am
Haha no offence at all. it’s like everyone is jumping onto the homemade ice cream wagon and some are just trying too hard.
this is just my personal opinion, u guys can give it a try only if you are in the area. just not worth traveling for it.
February 2nd, 2010 @ 3:31 pm
nice list, good work!
i am staying in the east and most of the time i have to travel far for ice cream. Ice cream chef is ok, just that the choice of flavour is limited and i don’t really fancy mix in so much.
Use to visit daily scoop frequently last time when my office is near clementi, maybe one of this day will visit the chip bee outlet.
will give blic a try since it is near, hopefully they will stir up my craving for ice cream again.
February 2nd, 2010 @ 11:57 pm
KC tan: I have never try tom’s yet, need to get there soon. i like the local ice cream parlors for coming up with creative flavors that everyone can relate to
Kelly: oh well, you can’t blame them since they probably see the success of the early pioneers, so everyone want to have a share of the pie (ice cream).
Harry: Hello thanks for your kind words. A couple of the ice cream parlors are in the west, but we are seeing more opening up in town too. yeah let me know after u try blic
February 4th, 2010 @ 1:38 am
Tom’s Palette is also a very nice ice cream stall i tried so far, reali gd.. kc tan: i like the granny fav too.. anyway kelly, quite interesting tat u say blic was a mimic of udders n ice cream chef.. reali cant imagine wat its like, might drop by someday to check it out then review n let u knw.. =0 happy ice creaming!!
February 4th, 2010 @ 3:00 am
Hi ladyironchef,
this is my first time here. nice blog you have =]
I have been to island creamery, udders and tom’s palette.
Island’s creamery has nice mango and teh tarik ice cream from what i recall. tried some other flavours and find them average.
Udders offers rather good liquer flavoured ice cream. However I do not like the idea of the 3 price categories. The price is on the steep side. tried some of their other non liquer ice cream but did not find them special. Even a durian lover like me wasnt attracted to their mao shan wang and d24.
Tom’s palette offers the best ice cream by far. Their flavours just keep me going back for more. I will always make and effort to visit them whenever I am in the area. The service is pretty good too.
Apart from the above freshly made ice cream, I do enjoy meadow gold cookies and cream (one of the better family brand ice cream), Bulla fruit yoghurt ice cream (comes in a few flavours like mango etc, available in certain Ntuc Xtra outlets) , milo ice cream (green tub) and dreyer’s cookies and cream ice cream.
February 4th, 2010 @ 9:00 am
Johnson: you are tempting me to go try Tom’s soon! anyway good or bad, ice cream is always awesome. hee
zy: Hello there, thanks for leaving your first comment! I agreed with you on Udder’s pricing, especially when I have to pay such premium price for their hazel’s nut when it cost the normal price at other places like haato and island creamery. I have yet to been to tom’s, need to make a trip there soon
February 5th, 2010 @ 1:39 am
ya u shld reali go try out tom’s, esp granny fav, its damn gd!!
February 5th, 2010 @ 8:50 pm
johnson: roger that! : )
February 9th, 2010 @ 12:50 am
hey guys, kelly, wen dwn to BLic today (after dinner at the nearby coffee shop, the fried carrot was gd ar!!), thought that its a mimic to ice cream chef n udders.. but i see no marble slab (not like ice cream chef).. as for udders, udders seem to hv a wider range of fav than BLic, thus i reali cant relate them together so how..
so how, its was located in the corner of the alley.. wen to the wrong side then walk back.. faintz..
Anyway i wil divide into 2 part..
Part 1, the deco was simple n clean.. big sitting area inside.. but the walls are plain n boring, the menu seems dull n boring also.. logo seems like a animal to me (haha).. Pricing wise was acceptable..
Part 2, wen wit 3fren, plus me 4.. the hv abt 26 flav ther.. some nt display as i learn from the guy who serve me, they do nt hv enough space to display.. tried some of their flav some are just normal classic wit no creation but some are new n interesting to my surprise.. anyway, the flav we tried was, tiramisu, rum n rasin, milo, bailey, durian king, black sesame, strawberry n mango.. for me n my fren we are more of fruits fan thus we try to try most of the fruits fav..
tiramisu – its was the best i ever eaten.. serious.. y i say tat.. cause u can feel the mascp cheese n coffee liquor(liquor nt very strong, to me, ice cream is to be smoothing n n not so strong on liquor)..i hv never eaten such gd tiramisu (can taste the cheese), cause nwadays ppl tend to use coffee plus cream onli(apply to most cake shop, cant feel the cheese at all).. but some how saw from some blogger saying their tiramisu like thick vanilla n rum n rasin, weird (wondering if they ate the right ting..)
Bailey – nothing special.. but the liquor was just nice, can feel it yet nt too strong.. to me ice cream shld be eaten in a way tat shld feel like ice cream.. if the liquor is too strong like udders.. i might as well go drink liquor dun waste time eating ice cream, nt shiok(apply me onli, no offend to other ppl).. anyway i nt a fan of bailey..
milo – another classic fav.. but was boring to me.. nothing special.. not reali worth to try.. if u like classic u will like tis..
rum n rasins – to my suprise their rum n rasin was in yellow so werid!! but.. its was damn gd, simply dunno how to put its in word.. ter a saying picture tel a thousand words.. tongue tel u wat the taste!! reali like it.. after eating.. even tried it in milk shake form before leaving..
black sesame – its like mua chee.. very gd to me.. but tis kind of flav very subjective, like or hate it.. so far, BLic n scoopz has the best black sesame i tried so far..
strawberry – power, i like it!! sweet n sour, reali taste like the damn real strawberry.. so far i tried so many ice cream palour, Udders n BLic has the best strawberry i ever taste..
mango – mango was nt bad also.. but nt reali a fan of it..
durian king – wah!! reali damn gd ar!! cant even use word to describe.. i even ta bao for my parent before leaving.. forget to mention, i can smell the durian wen i open the door.. was a fan of udders mao shang wang but recently feel tat they like cut cost.. dun taste as gd as before.. anyway will definitely go back for more durian king at BLic(since its more near to me, as i staying in the east)!!
haha, seems like i abit lo so.. all abv is my own opinion, hope its doesn’t offend any1..
lastly.. would like to go back to try their scam, sold out =(
my top 3 list of ice cream palour use to be
1.tom’s plat 2.scoopz 3.udders
haha.. after today, it will be..
1.BLic 2.tom’s plat 3.scoopz
ladyironchef, u shld reali go try their durian king 1 day if u are a fan of durian, or rum n rasin or strawberry..
haha nw i can travel nearer for my fav ice cream.. use to go udders n tom’s (abit far).. reali glad tat they open in the east.. cheers to everyone, nite..

I’m a big fan of TASTE MATTERS at Cluny Court.
You must absolutely give them a try! Love their Blueberry Cheesecake ice-cream (tastes like the real thing but in liquid form) and their hawthorn sorbet!

I stay in Serangoon so I was really excited when I came across Ice Edge Cafe on Kovan Road during one of my evening strolls. The ice cream you get there is definitely of high quality and the waffles are heavenly. There are many local flavours that you can choose from and the staff are more than happy to point out to you the more popular flavours. I go there every week and I suggest you check it out for some smooth delectable ice cream.

Hmm.. after such a writeup abt ice cream as a tantalizing delight, I was kinda hoping you’d really point me in the direction of some tried and tested good stuff, rather than just throwing an ice cream outlet directory at me.
September 17th, 2010 @ 12:50 am
I’ve just finished 1/4 tub of Udders Strawberry ice cream while working late. Who needs coffee when you have ice cream to fuel you.

Coccogelo at East Coast served the best gelato in Singapore. The flavours is so intense and the environment is quirky and service is good. The pistachio is the best so far I have tasted with real flavours. Peanut butter and salted caramel is amazing too! Check out their cool website: http://www.coccogelo.com and they are on facebook too – http://www.facebook.com/coccogelo

I have not eaten ice cream in more than a year because I am afraid of the sugar and fat content. Sugar not only feeds cancer cells, but also causes wrinkles, not to say leads to obesity.
I am too lazy to exercise hence I rather choose to restrict my diet.
However after reading your website I feel a rekindling of my long-lost urge to eat ice cream….
But I am afraid of getting fat….how??!!
Can you tell me what you do to mitigate the sugar and fat from the ice cream you are regularly consuming? Do you exercise like 1 hour everyday??
I am 39 years old, 167cm and weigh 47kg.
Because of my rigid, restrictive, no-sugar diet (even though I am not diabetic), I look at most 30 instead of my real age, because of my slim figure and fair, smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
But please don’t envy me….my life is completely, absolutely meaningless without ice cream, cakes, cookies and all things sweet! Sometimes I feel so frustrated that I am depriving myself of all these wonderful desserts that ‘normal’ people eat everyday.
How??
Maybe I should try being kinder to myself and eating 1 scoop of ice-cream just once a week. Maybe I won’t get fat or start having wrinkles if it’s just 1 scoop once a week?
I’d be very grateful if you could share with me your strategies to ‘compensate’ for your happy ice-cream laden diet (in terms of weight control)!
Thank you
Continue eating ice cream happily – you don’t know how lucky you are to be able to do so without any mental constraints!
March 13th, 2011 @ 11:07 pm
hi Foodaholic,
Any clue?
March 15th, 2011 @ 12:08 am
Hello Lisa, the only advice I can give is exercise. Believe me, I am not one of those who can eat everything without gaining weight. So I have been exercising regularly, and besides the obvious benefit that I get to lose weight, running also helps to de-stress and I always feel better after it.
Life is short, and I think it is meaningless if you cannot get to eat whatever you feel like eating. Having said that, it is definitely not a good idea to suddenly over-indulge. I think you should not be so hard on yourself. Why don’t you reward yourself occasionally after a long day of work, and have a cookie or ice cream?
Otherwise, you can always have frozen yogurt as a replacement for ice cream. I have been eating froyo more than ice cream recently.
I really hope that you will be nicer to yourself, and eat the food that you like : )
