OCBC CYCLE SINGAPORE 2017

Singapore’s largest mass cycling event – OCBC Cycle – is taking place this year from 17 November 2017 to 19 November 2017. For cycling enthusiasts, this is where everyone will gather together to ride safely on closed roads in the heart of Singapore’s city before ending the course at the Singapore Sports Hub.

WORLD AIRLINE ROAD RACE

If you are an airline associate or are family or friends of one, why not consider putting the World Airline Road Race (WARR) on your calendar as this is an event where all airline industry professionals from around the world will get together for a 5km or 10km run/walk for charity!

Registration for Singapore is now open and the participation fee has been fixed at USD$60 per race. Do note that entry fees for WARR will not be refundable.

WTA FINALS

Proudly presented to you by SC Global, the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore is certainly one of the most anticipated events of the WTA season. This will be the fourth year of Singapore’s five-year term of hosting the event and it will be held from 22 October 2017 to 29 October 2017 at the Singapore Sports Hub.

Aside from the exciting line up of athletes, there will also be a coaches Conference where you can glean pro tips from tennis experts, and a Fan Village where you can meet your favourite tennis players whilst engaging in tennis-themed activities at various booths.

PHILIPPE GAULIER MASTER CLASS 2017

Following his successful workshop in 2015 on the Neutral Mask and Greek Tragedy, Philippe Gaulier returns with another workshop for theatre enthusiasts – Masked Play and Moliere. During the workshop, Philippe Gaulier will introduce participants to various types of masked theatre with Commedia Dell’arte Masks in his exploration of Moliere’s famous comedy of manners, The Miser.

Registration takes place from 10 July 2017 to 14 August 2017 and costs S$380 per pax for the master class and S$20 for the open class.

SING JAZZ PRESENTS: GREGORY PORTER

SOWING ROOM POP-UP // PICNIC DAYS AT PV

There is no denying how much we love Plain Vanilla’s cupcakes, but this round, a retail showcase pop-up by the Sowing Room will be making its appearance at Plain Vanilla Bakery’s flagship store at Tiong Bahru.

The Sowing Room is a social enterprise that creates beautiful works from textiles and fabrics that have been made by women who have suffered abuse and those who are at-risk of facing such treatment. These women are taught invaluable skills of sewing and paid a fair wage for their work, so do come down on 02 September 2017 to hear more about the cause from the founder, Jolene Teo.

SERPENTIFORM

Coming to the ArtScience Museum on 19 August 2017, SERPENTIform is an exhibition which explores many aspects of the snake motif across time and space. The exhibition will also examine the impact of the snake motif on jewellery, arts, design, fashion, decorative arts and philosophy.

Public guided tours are available on 24 September 2017 from 11.30am to 12.15pm and 29 September 2017 from 3pm to 3.45pm. Mandarin Guided Tours will be taking place on 02, 09, 16, 23 and 30 September 2017 from 4pm to 4.45pm and the meeting point is at the exhibition entrance on Level 3.

There will also be the chance to be immersed in a hands-on experience at this exhibition, which is in line with Family Fridays. SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX 

Now, this is what you have all been waiting for the entire year. Since its debut entrance in Singapore in 2008, the Singapore Grand Prix has experienced plenty of success and remains as one of the most anticipated events every year. The circuit of the race encompasses the use of public roads around the Marina Bay area which promises exciting views of the race against the backdrop of the spectacular cityscape.

But what most people are looking forward to are the entertainment acts included in the concert lineup this year. This includes Calvin Harris, Arina Grande, OneRepublic and The Chainsmokers.

THE COLOR RUN NIGHT SINGAPORE 2017

The Color Run is back on 23 September 2017 and like all other times, it is going to be a glowtastic 5K party from the start to finish! Poetic Justice: Personalising Politics on Screen is a three-day screening of contemporary fictional films from Southeast Asia. There will also be a panel discussion with the filmmakers of the movies screened, namely Anocha Suwichakornpong (Thailand), Edmund Yeo (Malaysia), Green Zeng (Singapore) and Yosep Anggi Noen (Indonesia).

MIZUNO EKIDEN 2017

Hosted by Spacebib and RunSociety, Mizuno Ekiden is the pioneer of the full-fledged Ekiden relay race in Singapore. This August will be its third instalment, and once again it seeks to create an experience where participants will learn about Japanese values such as teamwork, performance and perseverance.

PUMA NIGHT RUN 2017 SINGAPORE

SAFRA SINGAPORE BAY RUN & ARMY HALF MARATHON 2017

The SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon 2017 is a special 25^th edition which will commemorate 50 years of National Service whilst also celebrating the event’s Silver Jubilee. #22 RUNNERS LEAGUE – LEG 01: THE BEGINNING 

The first leg of the Runners League will be held in Coney Island on 10 June 2017. The three other legs of the race will be held in four different locations around Singapore. First introduced to Singapore in 1978, the traditional Chinese sport of Dragon Boat Festival has been enjoying a rise in popularity with both participants and viewers of the sport. This year, watch as teams compete against each other, testing the limits of their strength and coordination at the Singapore Dragonboat Festival 2017.

Held alongside the iconic city skyline along the Kallang River, make sure you get there early to secure a good view of the entire event. Run Free 2017 is an event where you can run for free. Registration is absolutely free for this race which will commence from a stone’s throw away from the Gardens By The Bay East. Exercise with a view? We could not ask for more.

This time, Run Free 2017 offers two routes, namely the 5km or 10km route. Although the event is free, do ensure that you bring along some spare cash in the event you do decide to purchase any additional premium add-on items.

#8 RUNNING HOUR

RUNNING HOUR 2017 is a national event that aims to promote integration whilst nurturing an inclusive society for people with special needs. By taking part in RUNNING HOUR 2017, you would be contributing to raising awareness for the intellectually challenged, whilst also showing support for the abovementioned cause.

Should you wish to experience a marathon in the footsteps of the visually impaired, participants can don on a blindfold during the course of the run which is held at Bedok Reservoir.

Registration fee starts at S$30 for the 3.5KM blindfold walk or run, S$40 for the 5KM distance run, and S$45 for the 10KM distance.

#8 SINGAPORE RESTAURANT MONTH 2016

Singapore Restaurant Month is here again!

This year’s Singapore Restaurant Month will be held from 01 July 2016 to 31 July 2016. In collaboration with the Health Promotion Board and Singapore Tourism Board, the Restaurant Association of Singapore has made ‘healthy dining’ the main theme for this year. Now, aren’t we all more conscious about eating healthier lately?

This year’s slew of dishes have to contain either 500 calories or less, or it has to be made up of at least 8% wholegrains such as oatmeal, brown rice and wholemeal bread. All of these dishes have been approved by certified Health Promotion Board nutritionists.
