#1 BROADCASTASIA 2017

Although BroadcastAsia may only seem relevant for media agencies or trade vendors, BroadcastAsia2017 is a three-day event at Suntec City that pro-audio, film and broadcast enthusiasts must attend. 

A showcase of trending technologies including UHD, ProAudio and even Drones have been included in its line-up. Learn about the latest technologies within the Asia-Pacific markets from industry experts and be wowed by the progress of our world, where boundaries of innovation are constantly being pushed beyond its limits.

#2 THE SINGAPORE HORSE SHOW

Anticipate nothing but an entire day of equestrian fun at the annual Singapore Horse Show at the Bukit Timah Saddle Club this May. From showjumping to pony races and even pony rides (which is great for the children), there are endless ways for you and your family to have a great time!

Apart from sporting events, there will also be a farmer’s market which offers handcrafted wares and organic produce for purchase.

The best part? Admission is free for all.

Kristang Language Festival

#3 KRISTANG LANGUAGE FESTIVAL

The inaugural Kristang Language Festival is all about reviving the endangered heritage language of the Portuguese Eurasian community in Singapore, the Kristang language.

From 20 to 21 May this year, visit the Asian Civilisations Museum to learn about the dying language through workshops, panel discussions, stories and more. It will be a great way to learn more about Singapore’s national history and identity.

Entry is free for all.

#4 DOUJIN MARKET 2017

Doujin Market 2017 is an annual exhibition featuring the works of independent artists in the local doujin scene. Organised by Neo Tokyo Project, this is one event that anime, game or manga fans would enjoy, especially if you love to cosplay.

In addition to the fair, workshops led by seasoned doujin artists and writers will be ongoing for the aspiring doujin artists and the public. Also, admission to Doujin Market 2017 at Suntec City The Concourse is free.

#5 SINGAPORE FOOD EXPO

Recognised as one of the largest food events in Singapore, the Singapore Food Expo has consistently received unwavering support from its vendors and patrons and there is no question why. Just last year, more than 600,000 visitors turned up for the five-day event which only goes to show how incredible the event is!

This year, expect more than 100 exhibitors and vendors who bring with them over a thousand incredible quality products for your browsing. Get lost in a maze of your favourite foods at no entry fee, and seize the opportunity to view live food demonstrations by celebrity chefs such as Chef Eric Teo.

#6 DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

First introduced to Singapore in 1978, the traditional Chinese sport of Dragon Boat Festival has been enjoying a rise in popularity with both participants and viewers of the sport. This year, watch as teams compete against each other, testing the limits of their strength and coordination at the Singapore Dragonboat Festival 2017.

Held alongside the iconic city skyline along the Kallang River, make sure you get there early to secure a good view of the entire event. As Singapore is a consistent victim of the unrelenting heat, be sure to apply a liberal amount of sunscreen and bring along an umbrella in the event of rain or shine.

#7 RUN FREE 2017

Run Free 2017 is an event where you can run for free. Registration is absolutely free for this race which will commence from a stone’s throw away from the Gardens By The Bay East. Exercise with a view? We could not ask for more.

This time, Run Free 2017 offers two routes, namely the 5km or 10km route. Although the event is free, do ensure that you bring along some spare cash in the event you do decide to purchase any additional premium add-on items.

#8 RUNNING HOUR

RUNNING HOUR 2017 is a national event that aims to promote integration whilst nurturing an inclusive society for people with special needs. By taking part in RUNNING HOUR 2017, you would be contributing to raising awareness for the intellectually challenged, whilst also showing support for the abovementioned cause.

Should you wish to experience a marathon in the footsteps of the visually impaired, participants can don on a blindfold during the course of the run which is held at Bedok Reservoir.

Registration fee starts at S$30 for the 3.5KM blindfold walk or run, S$40 for the 5KM distance run, and S$45 for the 10KM distance.

#9 SPARTAN SINGAPORE 2017

The Spartan Race is always a fan favourite when it comes to exciting and thrilling sporting events. This year, push yourself to the limit at Spartan Singapore 2017 which will be held at Tampines Avenue 10.

The event comprises of various challenges that will challenge you mentally and physically. Imagine barbed wire and water obstacles; that sounds fun but yet terrifying! The winner of Spartan Singapore 2017 will also win a S$1,000 cash prize and trophy. Are you up for it?

There are three different categories for registration – the open category costs S$108, the competitive category costs S$118, and the elite category costs S$128.

For the uninitiated, The Performance Series is a series of running races that take place throughout the year across Singapore and Malaysia, but particularly at their iconic landmarks. With the objective of promoting a healthier lifestyle, The Performance Series is the perfect platform for you to get started on your New Year’s Resolutions which you have been sitting on for so long.

Choose from the series of run distances which includes 5km, 10km to 21km, whichever is more comfortable for you.
