<p>Good news for fans of old-school fast food restaurant, Waffletown! It is making a comeback and it will be reopening at NEWest in West Coast.</p>
<p>Waffletown is currently soft-launching with a limited menu and it will officially open on 31 May 2022.</p>

<p>For those of you who haven’t been to Waffletown, it is a family-owned retro fast-food restaurant that has been serving American food such as burgers, fried chicken and Belgian waffles for the past forty years in Singapore.</p>

<p>The old furnishing and dim lighting inside felt like a serene contrast to the modern coffeeshop right beside Heap Seng Leong. Time stood still as we started our day there and nourished ourselves while the uncle who wears the same pajamas each day went about pouring coffee for other customers. Having a slow breakfast there made for a peaceful morning.</p>

While it was earlier reported that Chin Mee Chin would be returning in March this year, there was a delay and it would be reopening in 15 Sep 2021 instead.</p>
<p>Specialising in local kopi, traditional kaya toasts and soft boiled eggs, this is the ultimate go-to destination for an authentic retro Singapore experience. The legendary coffee shop is also known for its baked goods such as Swiss rolls, cream horns, luncheon meat buns and sugee cakes.</p>

<p>The seating capacity of the new Chin Mee Chin will be doubled to 50 seats, including a new alfresco area.</p>

Each bowl of cheng tng is typically filled with gingko nuts, dried longan, red dates, candied winter melons and white fungus.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">No Name Cheng Tng serves up some of the best Cheng Tng around and their thirst-quenching bowls of goodness are a lifesaver when the weather gets too unbearable. We also like how the Cheng Tng here has a much sweeter flavour as compared to most places.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Ping Kee Popiah is one of the biggest mainstays at Sembawang Hills Food Centre and they have been consistently pushing out homely popiahs and kueh pie tees. Helmed by an amiable couple, they’ve been serving the same great popiahs for many years.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The ingredients used to make their popiahs are extremely fresh. Filled with crunchy bean sprouts, eggs, grounded peanut and plenty of braised turnip, it made for a myriad of textures playing on the tongue and created a familiar and satisfying mouthful. Despite such a generous serving of filling, the skin was surprisingly sturdy and held all the sauces and ingredients well without turning soggy or tearing apart.</p>

Once you step into the restaurant, you can find lots of vintage collectables like old gramophones, mixers and pay phone that we used in the past.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Their Roasted Chicken Chips &amp; Mushroom came with a piece of chicken leg and a small portion of potato wedges and mushrooms. Despite the small portion, the chicken was well roasted—super crispy on the outside and firm but not too dry on the inside.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The mushrooms were coated in savoury gravy, which complimented the chicken.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The meat was succulent and well coated in panko breadcrumbs, that did well to give the pork an incredible crunch as well as help to lock in moisture. The pork itself boasted a subtle yet pleasant note of rosemary and thyme which we thought worked brilliantly.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The dish that we enjoyed the most was definitely the Cheese Omelette &amp; Chips. This classic dish was simple yet so &#8216;egg-cellent&#8217;.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The egg was really soft and fluffy and the warm melted cheese inside just oozes out with a slight cut. The portion and wonderful taste of the omelette definitely made up for the price.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We liked that they added a good portion of fried shallots on top that added a crunch to the dish. However, the dish was simply too greasy to finish.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Red wine infused gravy poured over the steak gave it an extra oomph, and it was the kind of comforting Western food goodness that reminded us of good old childhood days when our parents would reward us with a good Western meal if we did well in school.</p>

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">We could see why it is a favourite among regulars for the marinated chicken thigh was so tender, with hints of BBQ sauce and chilli, and complete with a smoky aftertaste.</p>
