[Closed] The Queen’s Cats – Quaint Cafe For A British Afternoon Tea

the queens cats

The Queen’s Cats is aptly named after the British’s favourite pastime – afternoon tea. The European-inspired cafe at Holland Village serves a delectable array of premium cakes, pastries, scones, teas and of the like. While prices here are admittedly steep by cafess standards, what customers get in return is a satisfying afternoon tea fix at any time of the day.

Set foot into the attractive cafe and be greeted by plush cushion seats and sparkly chandeliers. Beautiful artworks from Singapore Arts Gallery are hung on the tiffany blue walls and some of these masterpieces are available for purchase.

For obvious reasons, the cafe’s clientele consists of mainly ladies, but who said afternoon tea is only reserved for the females? Guys, come on in!

Scoop Therapy Desserts

Scoop Therapy is a dessert-only spinoff of Group Therapy, serving mainly ice cream and ice cream-centric desserts. The small space sits in the East of Singapore, and you might already have seen photos of their Instagram-worthy desserts on your social media feeds.

We were pretty tempted by pictures of their sultry S’mores and Ice Cream Bomb floating around social media, so we made a trip down to find out what the hype is all about.

So, was the trip worth it?

Happenstance burger

Do you own a pet? Then you would have experienced the problem of having to leave them at home while you head out for a meal. Many times, it bugs us because we wish they could be there to bask in the moment with us, whether if it is in a cafe for a meal or just there to idle the afternoon away.

Thankfully, more cafes these days appreciate the presence of these cuties and have agreed on dedicating some of their outdoor seating to accommodate all who are keen on stringing their pets along. A number of pet cafes have also been on a rise where you can dine indoors with them while indulging in some playtime with the other pets present.

Here are 7 Pet-friendly Restaurants and Cafes in Singapore that you can bring your fur kids to.

[Closed] 20F Specialty Coffeehouse – Duck & Waffles, Matcha Cake & Nutella Cake

Duck Waffles - 20F

20F Specialty Coffeehouse is a cafe that sits in the Jalan Besar neighbourhood, and is especially cosy with 4 separate sitting areas.

The cafe gets pretty quiet after meal times, so that is the best time to visit if you want to snap some great photos quietly or to read a book in peace with a cuppa. We dived right for the most unique (and popular option) here – Duck & Waffle (S$22), part of their all-day brunch menu.

The duck confit is served alongside fluffy buttermilk waffles, strawberry compote and mixed berries sorbet. It might seem odd to some that sweet and savoury are mixed together, and you will either love it or despise it.

Chouquette by Ollella – A New Cafe Specialising In French Choux

ollella cafe singapore

The number of specialty dessert cafes in Singapore is increasing, and when it comes to selecting a venue for afternoon tea or some me-time over sweets, we have more options these days.

Chouquette by Ollella, a pretty new kid in town, has caught our attention with an unlikely combination of artisanal French chouquettes (ranging from S$4 to S$5 each) and mouthwatering traditional Indonesian kueh lapis (S$1.50 per slice).

Chouquette by Ollella’s fancy-looking choux pastries and delicious kueh lapis are handcrafted lovingly by two talented sisters. The duo have given up their prospects in marketing and chemical engineering respectively to pursue their baking passions.

We paid Ollella a visit and here’s what we loved.
