This feisty dish features KFC’s Signature Hot & Crispy Chicken glazed with a mouthwatering spicy Thai sauce and sprinkled generously with citrusy, rice crisps.

The secret to this fantastic dish is really, the rice crisps. Spiked with a tastefully sour spice combo of galangal, lemongrass, garlic and onion, these bits of goodness completely elevate the dish.

Now, comes the billion-dollar question — how does it taste?

Meet the Kentaco. KFC’s latest creation featuring a fried chicken taco shell that does not disappoint.

A cross between a taco and fried chicken, the Kentaco has swapped out the classic outer layer of corn tortilla for — you guessed it — fried chicken. We know, this could either be the worst mistake in the history of fried chicken experiments,  or a sheer culinary breakthrough.

The Kentaco (S$5.90) features a crispy chicken fillet that’s hand-breaded and fried to form a classic taco ‘U’ shape. Stuffed with fresh iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, decadent cheese sauce and shredded cheese, it’s the ultimate combo for cheese junkies.

Now, before the taco purists can scream “abomination”, how about a little taste test?

The breaded chicken was crispy on the outside and really tender on the inside, with the cheese serving as the perfect flavour booster. The lettuce and tomatoes added a refreshing crunch to the fried indulgence.

The best way to devour this is to just take one large bite of the whole monstrosity, getting an explosion of flavours from the chicken, cheese and veggies all at once.

Available at S$3.60 each or S$8.95 for a two-piece meal, what makes the Sour Cream & Onion Chicken so enticing isn’t just the winning combination of flavours involved, but the intricate sensory experience from the textural variance present.

For the usual fried chicken options, we expect the contrast between the signature crunch of the chicken skin against the moist tenderness of the flesh beneath. However, by covering the chain’s Hot & Spicy Chicken in a generous layer of crushed nacho chips before frying, the irregular coat of chips enhances the texture of the dish by breaking the surface consistency. The resultant eating experience is not just more thrilling, but more playful and fun as well.

The festive season will not be complete without a dessert of some sort. Back by hugely popular demand, the chain’s incredibly well-received KFC Chocolate Hazelnut Egg Tart is making a return (S$1.50/piece or S$7.50/5 with 1 free)!

A favourite of many, KFC’s Portuguese egg tarts are a delight to behold: the golden sheen of the thin flaky crust holds within it a smooth creamy centre of delicious custard goodness. As appealing as the original tarts are, the addition of the chocolate hazelnut spread elevates it to an almost heavenly status.
