Affordable Soufflé Pancakes Cafe, Fluff Stack is now officially halal-certified. It’s probably the first Japanese soufflé pancake cafe in Singapore which is halal-certified.

One thing that definitely sets Fluff Stack apart from other soufflé pancake cafés has got to be the price point. While soufflé pancakes tend to be priced at a premium, the ones at Fluff Stack start from S$8.80 which is pretty affordable!

Fluff Stack started in Suntec City last year and it has recently opened its second outlet at Northpoint City.

SweeT.Rex at Alexandra Village Food Centre is another halal-certified soufflé pancakes hawker stall that you can try out.

Poulét Singapore French Roast Chicken is now officially Halal-Certified. Known for its Roast Chicken which comes in three different sauces (Diane sauce, mushroom cream sauce and cranberry sauce), Poulét is a casual dining restaurant that offers relatively decent French dishes at reasonable prices.

All Poulét outlets other than the location at Kallang Wave Mall have received their halal certification.

Out of the three sauces, we love their signature Roast Chicken with mushroom cream the most. And if it’s your first time dining at Poulét, you have to add on the side of Mash Potato.

While you may be there primarily because of their excellent roast chicken, it would be a pity to pass up on the Tiramisu, which is served in a jar. It is certainly one of the better tiramisus you can find in Singapore.

Well, then you’re missing out. As shabby as Far East Plaza looks in comparison to its glammed-up neighbours, this shopping centre is an absolute gem for affordable eats in the town area.

Ban mian stalls are a dime a dozen, but those that make their own noodles are rare gems — Greenview Cafe is one of them. This hidden eatery does some of the best handmade mee hoon kueh we’ve ever tried.

Their Dry Mee Hoon Kueh (S$4.80) is a must-try. The irregularly-shaped kueh is excellently bouncy with a nice resistant bite. Tossed in a savoury, mildly spicy sauce, the doughy morsels are insanely addictive.

Mention “Far East Plaza chicken rice” to any foodie and they’ll immediately know what you’re talking about. Hailed as one of the best places for chicken rice in Singapore, Hainanese Delicacy has been tossing out impeccable plates of chicken rice for decades.

Hong Hu Express is a great option for those weekend nights when you’re out with friends looking for dinner but all the budget-friendly spots seem to have a full house. Modestly dressed with plain tables and empty walls, this place’s interior certainly doesn’t match up to the quality of their food.

Their comforting Chinese fare ranges from You Mian (S$3.50) in robust broth to a tom yum rendition, which really packs a punch. Add on some Pan-fried Dumplings (S$6) for an appetiser you won’t regret.

Jinjja Chicken is one of the best Korean fast-food available in Singapore for a quick seasoned chicken fix. Aside from delicious chicken, their gimbaps, noodles and bibimbaps are rather decent renditions from a fast-food chain. The best part is they’re Halal-certified for our Muslim friends to enjoy as well!

We’ve all been there. It’s late, the clock’s ticking, and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t sleep. Or maybe it’s another night of burning the midnight oil, latent stress of deadlines impeding your rest. Or perhaps you’re just a night owl, preferring to expand your energy when the moon is high in the sky. Whatever the reason, past a certain hour, after the remnants of your dinner has long evaporated, hunger pangs start once more, rendering ineffective whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish.

The next time this happens, instead of subsisting on yet another packet of chips, grab your keys and wallet, and head down to one of these Muslim-friendly late-night establishments. Better yet, call a few of your fellow insomniacs for a late-night food hunting session – after all, food always tastes better when enjoyed with others right?

Featuring everything from dim sum to full-fledged zi char restaurants – yes, there is more to Muslim-friendly late-night snacking in Singapore than your usual prata options – here is a list of 15 places that offer midnight makan menus suitable for our Muslim friends. Because when living in a food haven like Singapore, you should never have to go hungry regardless of the hour!

AL-AMEEN EATING CORNER [HALAL]

The north of Singapore isn’t exactly known for having a generous spread of food places to dine at, and this problem is compounded when you consider options available long after dark. Thankfully, Al-Ameen is here to provide late-night sustenance with their flavourful array of Indian food.

Even during the later hours, instead of settling for a premade prata, feel free to request for a fresh one to be made for you instead. For a light yet addictive snack, dip their coin pratas in your choice of curry for an easy-to-pop treat!

Far in the West corner of Singapore is Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak (BLPNL), a long-time supper favourite for those living in the vicinity. Contrary to your usual stalls, this stall’s queue mainly picks up after 10pm, when throngs of tired students and office workers start to congregate.

The longevity of this brand isn’t just from its monopoly of the West side’s supper crowd. So prominent is its nasi lemak’s reputation – their chicken wings are fried to golden perfection – that it is one of the only places in Singapore where you can request for islandwide delivery with no minimum order!

Feeling peckish past midnight and want some bite-sized items instead of an overly heavy meal? If you’re tired of settling for heavy and oily options, pop by food haven, Simpang Bedok, to satiate your hunger with some Halal-certified dim sum!

A rare sight to behold considering how most teahouses stop serving dim sum before dinner, Enak Enak thrives off the thick throngs of insomniacs that frequent its establishment. Add on the criterion of staying open past midnight and you’ll be really squeezed for choices. However, you live in the East, there’s one such option at your doorstep, Mak’s Place.

Standing out not only with its diverse menu of Chinese-Muslim dishes but also its scrumptious fare – the Butter Sotong is a must-try – Mak’s Place is a wonderful location for when you’re looking for something more substantial a tad after traditional closing hours.
One of the perks of living in multi-cultural Singapore is none other than being able to indulge in a myriad of distinct cuisines.

What’s more, with the growing abundance of Halal-Chinese eateries gracing our food scene, our Muslim pals can now expand their palates and enjoy the best of both worlds while reveling in authentic Chinese cuisine. One such Halal-certified, Chinese establishment is Xiaoer Niuda, a traditional beef la mian restaurant nestled in the heart of JEM.

La Mian — known as “hand-pulled” noodles — originates from Lanzhou, China. Xiaoer Niuda has brought that fusion culture over to our local shores, specialising in handmade, halal la mian topped with morsels of savoury beef.

XIAOER NIUDA PREMIUM SPICY BEEF LA MIAN

Topped with huge slices of beef, radishes, and scallions, the signature Premium Spicy Beef La Mian (S$8.80) features silky strands of noodle expertly pulled and tossed, resulting in a springy, chewy consistency.

Steeped in a clear, robust broth, each spoonful promises utmost savouriness with strong bursts of herbaceous notes. The combination of the flavourful soup with the tender meat also brought out the beef’s innate flavours.

One of their bestsellers, Xiaoer Niuda’s Sautéed Spicy Chicken (S$18.80) is an enormous platter of tender chicken cubes, spicy peppers and a range of sauces atop thick slabs of hand-cut noodles.

Prior to serving, the noodles are soaked in their speciality beef broth to absorb its earthy flavour before it is laden on the plate. Thoroughly sautéed and seasoned with chilli and peppers, this dish is exceptionally delectable and guaranteed to leave one’s mouth numb.

XIAOER NIUDA STIR-FRIED SPICY BEEF LA MIAN

Though the traditional beef noodles are usually served in soup, diners can also opt for “gaijiao-style” la mian, also known as dry, stir-fried noodles. Despite its unassuming appearance, their Stir-fried Spicy Beef La Mian (S$11.80) is not for the faint-hearted.

Each strand of noodle has been thoroughly dusted with chilli powder before it is stir-fried together with ferocious chilli peppers, leaving a searing aftertaste that is sure to set one’s tongue afire. Throw in generous chunks of beef cubes, and this simple dish is ready to be served!

XIAOER NIUDA POTATO BEEF RICE

We can never say no to a comforting dish reminiscent of our grandma’s cooking. Their Potato Beef Rice (S$8.80) will definitely bring back the nostalgic flavours of one’s childhood with its simplistic elements of tender potato chunks, beef cubes, and of course, spicy peppers.

The medley of ingredients is then drizzled with a luscious, “curry-like” gravy, adding hints of tangy sweetness to the mixture. Paired with a fluffy bed of white rice, this dish is truly a classic rendition of home-cooked food.
