Poon Choi (also known as Pen Cai) is a traditional Chinese New Year dish originating from Hong Kong. It has become a popular Chinese New Year Takeaway dish in Singapore during recent years, with most Chinese restaurants and hotels offering Pen Cai and yusheng in their Chinese New Year Dinner menu.
When the waitress opened the cover of the Poon Choi, there were three reactions from the table: Woah, Wow, and OMG! Our Chinese New Year Dinner started with a bang, and we knew we were in for a treat at Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant.
I was impressed during a recent visit to Crystal Jade Korean Restaurant at Takashimaya. They have pretty good Korean food at affordable prices and it currently ranks highly on my list of Korean Restaurants in Singapore.
I have to admit that I wasn’t a fan of Crystal Jade restaurants initially as I didn’t like restaurant chains. But after several visits to the different Crystal Jade restaurants, it’s not too difficult to understand why they are popular.
Chin Mee Chin confectionery at East Coast Road is one of the few old-school coffee shops left in Singapore. Sometimes, I think we take Kaya Toast for granted. This humble breakfast food is simple, yet so delicious, and it is often overlooked because it is so common in Singapore. I have been eating a lot of cakes recently. Hold on, please allow me to rephrase that: I eat a lot of cakes all the time, but recently, I have been having them way too often.
Canele Patisserie currently has three locations: Robertson Walk, Orchard Paragon and Shaw Centre. It has been a long time since my last visit, but it’s mainly because I wanted to check out the other patisseries in Singapore. Are you game for more cakes?

From the fine dining Crystal Jade Palace restaurant, to the family-oriented Crystal Jade restaurant, Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken & BBQ or the causal dining options like Crystal Jade Kitchen and Crystal Jade La Mien Xiao Long Bao – there are options for everyone.
So when I finally stepped into Crystal Jade La Mien Xiao Long Bao at Ngee Ann City, there was a slight tingling sensation in my stomach. ‘Hello Crystal Jade, I’m finally here!’
