People seek different things when they travel, depending mostly on personality and the current situation that they are in. Some travel because they want to learn more about the culture and history of places they have not been to, others may want to go on an impromptu trip just to unwind from the pressures of work or school.

Whatever reasons they may be, it is important to be sufficiently prepared for your trips because no one wants to be stuck in a foreign land with no accommodation for the night or waste precious time researching on places to go only when you are there.

Therefore, it is important to find the right balance between a strict itinerary and going directly without a plan. No clue on how you should do that? Our guide on how to create the perfect travel itinerary will help you get started.

#1 RESEARCH FOR INSPIRATION FIRST

No two travelers want the exact same experience so it is important to do some research on what you would find interesting at your travel destination. Are you someone who is into arts, culture and tradition? Or perhaps you prefer the exhilarating city life and happening night scenes?

Asking yourself these simple questions will give you a clearer direction of what you want. Social media platforms are the best when you are looking for up-to-date events and activities. If you need more information for touristy places, the country’s official tourism website and printed guide books are usually more detailed.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#2 ORGANISE YOUR TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

Important documents such as travel tickets, passport, accommodation bookings and restaurant reservations should be placed neatly together and stored in your bag.

It helps to keep them organised as you wouldn’t want to end up digging frantically for them when you are there.

#3 GATHER ALL NECESSARY INFORMATION

Even for those who enjoy going with the flow when it comes to traveling, it is still crucial to have the necessary information such as your flight numbers, maps and exchange rates of the countries you will be going to.

Something else to know beforehand are the cultural etiquettes of the country you are visiting. Dress modestly at places that hold deep religious beliefs, learn a few basic words in their local language and find out if tipping is expected in certain countries.

#4 KNOW YOUR BUDGET RESTRICTIONS

Unfortunately, not all of us own a limitless credit card so we have to be aware of our expenditure. Figure out a rough estimation for places that are on your must-visit list and set aside a sum of money for it. You should also know your priorities—are you more willing to spend on accommodation, food or activities?

Those who are on a tight budget can check out on discounts that are usually given to students or on certain periods of the year.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#5 LEAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPONTANEOUS PLANS

Frequent travelers will know that the perfect itinerary is not one which is filled with places you MUST see but rather, to have a few ideas on places that interest them and be open to opportunities that open up there. You may just stumble into a few hidden gems along the way!

#6 BE REALISTIC

Expect to bump into some challenges along the way because life ain’t perfect like that. There will be unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather conditions that will prevent you from commuting or the restaurant forgot to book your reservation.

Remember, having the expectation that things will definitely go your way will only lead to disappointment and frustration.

Many of us have a morning routine that we are used to doing on a daily basis. Need that cuppa to perk yourself up before heading out to work? How about dragging yourself to the gym before breakfast to get that workout done first thing in the morning?

If one of these scenarios sounds familiar to you, then it is time to break that habit. It is important to set aside time for breakfast to ensure that you have enough fuel to start your day right.

Here are 7 Things You Should Never Do On An Empty Stomach, because they may cause you discomfort and even health issues in the long run.

#1 DRINK ALCOHOL

Those who have tried drinking on an empty stomach would know that it gets them intoxicated much faster. Alcohol goes into the bloodstream at a faster pace and spreads throughout the body quickly.

If you do not wish to end up with a much-dreaded hangover the next say, have a proper meal before you drink.

#2 DRINK COFFEE OR TEA

This is probably the hardest to control of all. To many of us working adults, we really need that cup of caffeine as a morning booster to get through the day. We aren’t saying that you have to stop consuming coffee altogether—just have it after breakfast.

Drinking coffee or tea on an empty stomach increases your stomach’s acid levels and give way to vomiting or constipation issues.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#5 CONSUME ACIDIC FOOD/FRUITS

Certain food or fruits have chemical properties in them that react badly with your stomach’s acidic juices. Eating tomatoes on an empty stomach create insoluble gels which lead to stomach calculus or also known as ‘stomach stones’.

Bananas are rich in magnesium and consuming the fruit when you are hungry will create an imbalance between magnesium and calcium levels in the body. Other types of food you should avoid include orange, milk and yogurt.

#6 EAT TOO MUCH SUGAR

Your body absorbs sugar quickly when you eat them on an empty stomach, causing a spike in blood sugar levels. High blood sugar increases the risk of damaged cells in your blood vessels.

#7 TRAVEL

You can get nausea or motion sickness when traveling on an empty stomach, especially if it involves traveling long distance such as a road trip. Do not go hungry if you want to keep your energy going throughout the day!

While you can most definitely expect only the best ingredients to go into the dim sum, the high price tag is not for all to digest. While the place may appear slightly snobbish, there is a reason why the restaurant is ever popular among the socialites over the weekends. And yes, their dim sum is pretty elegant.

FU SING SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

Fu Sing Seafood Restaurant is not at all pretentious and their traditional outlook is one reason why it makes the dining experience all the more authentic. They may be known for their shark’s fin but we would go for their dim sum any day.

Filled with the sweetest char siew fillings in an airily soft bun, Fu Sing’s Baked BBQ Pork Buns are the best that we’ve had in Hong Kong—that pillowy bun came with a full centre of char siew fillings and a crusty pineapple-shaped top. Other than that, the Steamed Rice Rolls with Dough Stick and Carrot Cake are excellent choices too.

JADE GARDEN

Founded by leading F&B organisation Maxim’s Group, Jade Garden is a dim sum chain that is popular among families for their wide range of dim sum options and classic Cantonese dishes.

KING’S DIM SUM

The best part about dim sum is that it can be enjoyed at any time of the day—whether its breakfast, tea or even supper. King’s Dim Sum is a hole-in-the-wall dim sum eatery in Causeway Bay which serves dim sum from 7am to 11.30pm.

Prices are considered reasonable here and the eatery even has a translated menu in English so tourists do not have to be shy about ordering. Although not as famous as the other big names, King’s Dim Sum is still an underrated place worth checking out.

LEI GARDEN

Established in 1973, Lei Garden is a very successful international dim sum brand that originally started off as a traditional Cantonese-style restaurant. The 1-Michelin Starred restaurant now has 24 branches in neighbouring countries such as Singapore and China too.

The food is consistently remarkable and always reliable no matter which branch you go to or when you visit. Among what we ordered, their Steamed Custard Stuffed Buns, with its molten centre, left a deep impression on our minds. Other notable items on the menu are the Pan-fried Pork Dumpling topped with rice nest and Deep-fried Taro Dumplings.

LIN HEUNG TEA HOUSE

Having been around for decades, Lin Heung Tea House is one of the oldest teahouses in Hong Kong—that will remind you of old Hong Kong in the 60s and 70s—and it is conveniently located at the bustling Wellington Street.

LUK YU TEA HOUSE

An institution that has been around long enough to be labelled as an icon in the Hong Kong dining scene, Luk Yu Tea House is very traditional and its setup is akin to what you see in Hong Kong dramas—complete with ancient touches of jades and marbles, sans the gangsters, of course.

The F&B industry holds a strong belief that forming good relations with butchers is important as it helps you to get the best deals and the best cuts. You also get to learn something new from time to time which is never a bad thing.

If you are a big fan of gourmet sausages, succulent grass-fed steaks or just better produce in general, then you should know that most supermarket goods never quite make the mark. Well, we have put together a list of the best gourmet butchers in Singapore where you can surely find meats as good as those from your favourite restaurants.

Whether you’re looking for a thick, gorgeously marbled filet mignon or a humble rump, here are 5 gourmet butchers in Singapore to get restaurant-standard meats.

MEAT THE BUTCHER

Fresh meat should never be frozen if you are particular about quality so kudos to this humble butcher for ensuring that all its meat is flown in fresh from its source and never frozen.

For your next barbecue, we highly recommend getting their premium BBQ set that consists of wagyu steak, lamb medallions, baby back ribs and more. They have an excellent selection of sausages as well, such as German bratwurst, Oxford bangers, garlic herb, tomato basil, chorizo and gourmet beef.

This European-style butcher flies in only premium meat and makes its famous gourmet sausages on site.

Huber’s Butchery features two levels of meaty goodness—the second floor has a stunning array of cured meats, sausages, hams and cheese, and the first offers liquor from spirits to wines and possibly the largest deli counter we have ever seen!

A charming, beautiful dining spot that’s a surefire way to impress a date, POLLEN Terrace astounds with its lush botanical surroundings, stellar service and delicious French-Mediterranean food that presents itself in the most vibrant of colours.

POLLEN Terrace takes up a large space in the Flower Dome at Gardens By The Bay and you can get there by hopping onto a personalised buggy ride at the arrival plaza—how fun is that?!

All POLLEN’s guests are also given complimentary access to the flower dome so you really do get so much more out of your meal there!

While the main draw of POLLEN is the restaurant at level one that offers multi-course dining, the terrace bar on level two is equally worth visiting too. Unlike many open bars in Singapore where you will have to bear with the midday heat, the temperatures at POLLEN will always remain at a cool 20 degrees Celsius.

It is always a great time to have a tipple at POLLEN; the curated beverage menu comprises their signature cocktails, wines and beers from both international and local brands.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#2 CHOOSE A CONCEPT

Choose your Christmas concept and stick to it. It is not wise to change your theme or dinner menu once you have started making plans, especially when it is nearing to the actual day.

#3 START SMALL WITH SIMPLE RECIPES

First time holding a Christmas dinner? Start small with simple recipes. It is easy to get carried away and start feeling ambitious but you should also be practical about it. Gather recipes that are manageable and skip those that take up too much time.

Which brings us to the next point.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Thai-Style Otah on Clayplate (S$10++/4pcs) is an unassuming dish featuring mackerel fish mousse on a traditional clayplate. With the addition of rich Thai spices, the bite-sized otah pieces had aromatic and complex flavours which we enjoyed thoroughly.

While most places will opt for a simpler presentation, Sawadee Thai Cuisine’s Mango with Glutinous Rice (S$30++/sharing platter for 4 to 5 pax) truly impresses us with its gorgeous aesthetics. Alongside sweet mango cubes and glutinous rice coloured with all-natural butterfly pea flower, diners are also treated to creamy coconut ice cream which was we needed to end the meal on a high.

A metropolis, Seoul is home to some of the most spectacular dining establishments in the world that have attracted plenty of foodies from all walks of life to visit the city for their brilliant cafe scene.

With its simple facade, Rose Bakery may not be able to compete when it comes to aesthetics but it is precisely its comfortable and cosy vibes that attracted throngs of locals and tourists to visit if they are just looking for a place to unwind and enjoy mouthwatering brunch items and coffee.

Hailing all the way from Paris, this French cafe shares the same space as popular Japanese fashion label Comme des Garcons, so guests can always go for a shopping spree before or after grabbing a cuppa!

Presented on a long white counter, Rose Bakery’s drool-inducing range of pastries and baked goods are similar to what you will find at their main bakery in Paris.

Have a look at their brunch menu as well; a small selection comprising unpretentious mains such as Egg Crab Sandwich, Avocado Spread Poached Egg Toast and Rose Bakery French Toast.

In the meantime, delight yourself with some coffee, tea, smoothies and fresh fruit juices. Some caffeine options to perk you up include Cafe Latte, Cappuccino, Caramel Macchiato and Cafe Mocha. Otherwise, we would also recommend the Valrhona Chocolate for its dark chocolatey flavour.

If you are in the mood to do some shopping, head over to the Comme des Garcons store and pick up a few fashion apparels before leaving the place!

It’s only been a few weeks since Isaac Toast announced its plans to open in Singapore but the wait has been agonising. But all’s good now because Isaac Toast will begin operations at Plaza Singapura from tomorrow (15 July 2018) onwards!

This popular Korean toast chain is famous for their breakfast toasts that come in an assortment of flavours which include the likes of ham & cheese, bulgogi and more. Locals and tourists alike love their sandwiches for the over-the-top fillings and crisp bread slices.

We had a sneak peek of their menu before they officially open so carry on reading to find out more!

From their MVP Series, patrons are treated to savoury gourmet sandwiches such as Double Spicy Cutlet, Hot Chicken MVP, Bulgogi MVP, Shrimp MVP and Hot Tteokgalbi MVP.

We came to a consensus that the Double Spicy Cutlet stole the limelight. Comprising a thick chunk of chicken cutlet, barbecue sauce and shredded cabbage for that added crunch, every bite of this decadent sandwich was flavourful.

Its location at Duxton Hill is just one of many reasons why working professionals head there after work for a good time with their colleagues and friends.

Service is intimate, food is impressive and they have their very own walk-in cellar which houses about 1,000 bottles of vino. What other reasons do you need to visit Praelum Wine Bistro?

Their wines, oh their wines. Wine aficionados will appreciate the splendid array of fine wines that are sourced from all over the world—including Italy, France and Germany. But for someone who is just starting out on wines, it can be somewhat intimidating to go through the extensive wine menu but this is when the servers step in to give suggestions.

Whether you are looking for bubbles, pinks, reds or whites (from S$17++/glass onwards), Praelum Wine Bistro has them all. We have been told by Gerald that the wine list is updated frequently so guests can probably expect something new on every visit. Well, more reasons to keep going back then!

While wine is the main focus here, we actually like how the bistro keeps their food menu concise—focusing on quality instead of quantity.

You cannot go wrong with the Pork Parcels, Tomato-Basil and Pineapple Chutney (S$27++), Foie Gras, Caramelised Apple and Balsamic Reduction (S$28++) and Salmon-En-route, Dill-Tarragon Butter (S$35++). Ask the wait staff for their recommended wine pairing and you are on your way to a gastronomic journey!

If you are curious and wish to sample on a variety of wines, opt for the wine flights where you can get to taste three to five different types and even rare wines that are not easily found anymore. The sommeliers will also share about the history and story behind the wines.

Wan He Lou is a traditional Chinese restaurant along Maude Road that is well known for its popular Lobster Porridge and myriad of classic Chinese dishes.

It is the kind of restaurant that will gain instant approval from your grandmother for its cosy ambience, comforting Chinese food that will never go wrong and attentive service from the friendly wait staff.

When it comes to Chinese restaurants in Singapore that evoke nostalgia, Wan He Lou is an established brand that always seeks to deliver.

The warm lighting, Chinese lanterns, portrait photographs and round communal tables remind us of how a typical Chinese household used to look like in the past. It may be far from fancy, but the intimate, homey vibes play a huge part in getting loyal patrons to visit them time and time again.

Wan He Lou’s signature is undoubtedly their Lobster Porridge (S$31.90++ onwards), which also happens to be the pride of the restaurant’s award-winning founder chef, Lau Siaw Dee.

Cooked in Teochew style, the Lobster Porridge is a winning recipe and its success all boils down to its flavourful stock which comprises rich lobster roe and topped off with a fresh lobster that was prepared separately.

Tuck into the Truffle Pork Chops (small – S$19.90++, big – S$34.90++) should you be looking for something more substantial. Using Kurobuta pork, the tender chunks of meat came with truffle sauce that gave the pork chops an umami flavour explosion in our mouths.

Meanwhile, this sinful plate of Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg (small – S$11.90, medium – S$19.90) is worth breaking your diet for. The paper-thin lotus roots are beyond addictive; covered in a layer of golden salted egg yolk powder and accompanied by fragrant curry leaves.

As one of the top travel destinations in Southeast Asia, modern Taipei is known for boasting marvellous sights and if you are one who appreciates the dazzling city lights, then a panoramic view of the city’s skyline is a must.

While the general consensus for the best photo taking spot is at the viewing gallery of the majestic Taipei 101, those who are not keen on squeezing with the tourists may want to opt for a hike up Taipei’s Elephant Mountain instead. Its close proximity to the city makes this a popular hiking place among both locals and travellers who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city without having to travel far.

A spectacular view awaits at the top—whether you choose to visit in the day or night—and there are many opportunities for you to take pictures again the sunset and the iconic Taipei 101 which lights up at night.

If you are looking for a free family-friendly activity to burn off all the calories from the delicious Taipei street food, include Taipei Elephant Mountain in your itinerary!

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TAIPEI ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN TRAIL

For someone of reasonable fitness, the average time taken to hike up Elephant Mountain will take about 20 minutes. The entire trail is made up of small steps with railings mounted at the side which makes it easy for both kids and adults to hike up the trail.

Standing at 600 feet, the entire trail is about 1.5km long and there are several lookouts for you to take outstanding photos. If you have the time to spare, avoid weekends as the place is populated with both professional and amateur photographers.

PHOTOGENIC SPOTS ON ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN

There are three viewing platforms on the mountain but the best views are found at the second lookout point where you get an unobstructed view of the city. If you are serious about getting that Instagram picture of the year, climb atop the gigantic boulders which bring you on a higher platform so the crowd wouldn’t be in your picture.

HOW TO GET TO ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN TRAIL

Hop onboard the MRT and head to Xiangshan station on the Red Line. Walk out of Exit 2 from the MRT station and follow the signs outside that will lead you to Zhongqiang Park. Continue following the signs towards Elephant Mountain and it will take you about 10 minutes to reach the foot of the trail.

The 1925 Brewing Co. is a local microbrewery and restaurant that is a passion project from three members of the Yeo family who run the business and food direction of this dining establishment.

Joining the enclave of established cafes and bars along Joo Chiat Road, the establishment’s second outlet may initially strike you as a simple drinking place where you can get affordable beers but really, it is more than just that.

Their forward-looking philosophy is a major plus point as diners can always expect something creative when it comes to their food offerings; their signature craft beers are brewed in-house and the beer-inspired grub they have been dishing out since they first began operations in 2014 is impeccable, to say the least.

At the beating heart of operations is a selective range of craft beers on tap brewed by them—each with its own story to tell. For those who are curious about the stories behind those beers, have a chat with the friendly bartenders who are more than willing to share!

Most of the craft beers are priced at S$7++ for half a pint and S$14++ if you opt for the full pint.

Yellow Van—their signature craft beer—is a pale ale that’s crisp, sweet and refreshing on the taste buds, which we can imagine to be very popular among the ladies. For those who prefer something stronger, the Jewel Of Africa Smoky Porter is closer to a stout and it comes with a hint of coffee flavour.

The 1925 Brewing Co.’s food menu is designed to be paired with the beers so there is nothing pretentious—just small plates with wholesome flavours that hit the right spot.

Their Pork Belly (S$10++) is easily one of the better renditions we have tried. In a mouthful, there was a textural variety that came from the crispy skin that held on to tender and succulent meat. The accompanying garlic aioli and sour plum powder heightened the overall flavour of the dish.

A more substantial option is the Shacha Rice (S$8++), an Asian dish peppered with garlic, dried shrimps and given a dash of chilli oil. While it is certainly on the pricier side for its small portion, the dish is nonetheless addictive and will fill you up fast if you are feeling hungry.

Chicken Skewers (S$6++) is a simpler side whereby the meats are dusted with Sze Chuan peppers, coriander powder and cumin. We enjoyed the intensely-rich chicken skewers with light pale ale but there wasn’t anything, in particular, we were impressed with.

There are two options on the dessert menu and it is the Tiramisu (S$15++) you have to get. Its simple aesthetics may fool you but take it from us that this is the real deal. Comprising Patron Cafe XO, a tequila-based coffee liqueur, and espresso, this is one dessert we will definitely find ourselves travelling back to the east of Singapore for.

Many hold Tanuki Raw in high regard not only because of their enticing happy hours and their affordable oysters, but mainly because these folks know how to guarantee a fun time through their remarkably innovative grub and tipples.

These are the same folks who inspired and more importantly popularised the low-cost Yakiniku Donburi—a heady bowl of sushi rice topped with strips of Angus short rib, doused in a truffle sauce and topped with a wobbly onsen egg.

Don’t think for a minute that this is some ordinary sushi and sashimi eatery because it’s not—just don’t forget to take advantage of their signature daily raw bar—their original claim to fame—that features top of the line oysters, freshly shucked for enjoyment.

The restaurant sees two open concept areas where chefs and bartenders alike can be seen expertly doing their thing from shucking oysters by the boxes to flame torching an assortment of rice bowls and even shaking some magnificent tipples.

Loyal patrons would tell you that Tanuki Raw is best for their impeccable range of donburi which—unsurprisingly—also happens to be their bestsellers. If you are having trouble deciding which to pick, then you cannot go wrong with the Truffle Yakiniku (S$18++), Salted Duck Egg Char Siew (S$18++) and Tanuki Kaisen Chirashi (S$24.90++).

Save your stomach for more because Tanuki Raw’s decadent sushi rolls are perfect for sharing as well. Some options to consider include Tanuki Aburi Maki (S$14.90++), Superstar Roll (S$12.90++) and The California Roll (S$8.90++).

It is difficult to pick the trendiest neighbourhood in Seoul. There is Gangnam for those who are into nightlife, Garosu-gil for its amazing concept cafes and Hongdae, which is a shopping paradise. Needless to say, these popular districts have an energetic and vibrant atmosphere which appeals to many young Koreans and tourists.

However, there are days when we prefer to be away from the crowds and during times like these, we head to Gyeonridan-gil (also spelt as Kyungridan-gil or Gyeongnidan-gil) in Itaewon instead.

Located just 10 minutes away from Myeong-dong by taxi, Gyeonridan-gil is a charming neighbourhood which boasts cafes, restaurants, bakeries and multi-concept stores. If you have not been there before, here are 16 cafes at Gyeongridan-gil you need to add on your bucket list.

#1 BAKEHOUSE

Previously known as 89 Coffee Bar, Bakehouse is a bakery nestled on the ground level of a building that has two dining concepts under one roof. The bakery cafe extends to the ground floor and that is where you can find fresh bakes such as their popular croissants, beautiful cakes and sweet milk bread.

If you are not keen on that, there is also Social Table—a beautiful restaurant and bar offering European tapas food.

In the real world where life doesn’t always seem to go according to plan, there is little wonder why humans love the idea of magic. With the help of fantasy novels such as Harry Potter and The Hobbit, people are able to break away from daily mundanes and be part of a world that has mystical creatures, powerful wizards and not to mention, create magic.

If getting accepted into Hogwarts is a lifetime dream of yours, then you have to know more about Platform 1094, a wizard-themed cafe along Serangoon Road. Managed by the same team that is behind Fresh Fruits Lab, Platform 1094 is where your wizard dreams come true.

Besides what you can find on their regular menu, the cafe is introducing an all-new Harry Potter-themed English Afternoon Tea at S$55 for 2 pax where you can enjoy a selection of sweets and savouries that are inspired by the Harry Potter series. Think Chocolate Frogs, Owl Hootdoo Macarons and Turkey Bacon Quidditch Quiche. Platform 1094′s wizard-themed afternoon tea is available from Tuesdays to Sundays between 2pm to 6pm (reservations are necessary).

Put on the wizard robe, grab a pointed hat and choose a wand of your liking—a spellbinding session awaits.

A “RIDDIKULUS-LY” FUN PLACE TO UNLEASH YOUR INNER WIZARD

The magic begins once you step foot into Platform 1094.

Every detail at Platform 1094 is taken care of to ensure guests receive the most magical dining experience, from the ambience right down to their food. The rustic cafe is adorned with antiques such as lamps and a swinging chandelier that give the place a warm, orangey lighting. Guests sit on chairs that are designed with a deer (possibly paying tribute to Harry Potter’s Patronus) and dine at wooden tables.

Once you have settled down, it is time to play dress up! Put on your favourite wizard clock, scarf and pointed hat. If you are feeling it, you can even pick up a wand and wear a pair of round spectacles too. Just imagine all the cute pictures you get to take with your squad!

NEW HARRY POTTER-THEMED AFTERNOON TEA SET THAT IS “SIRIUS-LY” GOOD

Behold, the Hagrid’s English Afternoon Tea. Boasting a mixture of savoury and sweet items that are inspired by the fantasy novel, this is one extremely attractive afternoon tea set that will have the Harry Potter fans going crazy for. Just when you think you have seen it all, the tea set also lights up upon a flick of your wand!

Your wizard journey begins with the Bewitching Tuna Sandwich, followed by Potato Slyther-in Bacon with Cheddar Cheese, Avocado Salmon Weasled with Chicken Floss on Edible Magical Ladle and Turkey Bacon Quidditch Quiche.

Well, true Harry Potter fans will definitely be able to pick up familiar names and if you did not, then read those names out loud again!

Each dessert item was meticulously thought of before they are shortlisted to be in included in this tea set and boy, were we impressed by what we saw: the Owl Hootdoo Macarons that looked way too cute for consumption; tantalising Pumpkin Tartlets; Rock Cake served with Cauldron-Brewed Cream Cheese Dip; Rasp-Berry Potter & Mango-Nagall Mousse with its crazy swirls and the iconic Chocolate Frogs.

Of all that we tried, the Pumpkin Tartlets are deserving of a special mention. The creamy pumpkin filling had the right amount of sweetness that was not cloying on the taste buds and we liked how the layer of chocolate ganache on top adds an extra dimension of flavour.

Besides that, Hagrid’s English Afternoon Tea also includes Green Frog Flexi, which is essentially a thirst quenching green tea drink to complement the food.
