8 Best Lobster Rolls You Must Try In Singapore

Singapore Best Lobster Roll

So the lobster roll trend has finally hit our shores! We have been waiting for this day to come, and the only times we could ever satisfy this craving used to be those holidays to New York City and London. But gone are those days when we’d pin so hard for a good lobster roll fix and had to sleep off the craving, because much to our delight, more restaurants in singapore are rounding up their menus with their own renditions of this ever popular dish. Or snack. Whichever is more appropriate, depending on your appetite. One is definitely not enough for us.

Now, why is lobster roll so popular, you may wonder. We’d tell you exactly just why – chunks of juicy lobster meat doused in mayonnaise that sits within a toasted buttered brioche, every mouthful bursting with sweetness from the fresh flesh; how do you even go back to normality once you’ve had a good lobster roll?

It took us a while to sum this post up, because we wanted to try the popular ones in town before we present you this list that you should bookmark. We went on a trail to scout for the best versions, and here, we share with you the best lobster rolls in singapore that you must try:

Lobster Roll

#1 DANCING CRAB

Dancing Crab’s Lobster Roll (S$30) comes with 100g of lobster claw and tail meat served in a superb brioche bun – oozing with buttery aroma and toasted with a fragrant char, we dare say it is even better than the bun we had at London’s Burger & Lobster. And what makes it even better is the addictive Cajun fries that come along with it.

The Lobster BLT comes with butter poached Boston lobster tail, Louisiana hot sauce mayo, rocket, wasabi sprouts, fresh tomato, flying fish roe, streaky bacon sandwiched between toasted sesame bun.

Luke's Lobster Roll

#3 LUKE’S OYSTER BAR & CHOP HOUSE

Known for its seafood cocktails and oysters, it is by no surprise that Luke’s Chophouse does an impressive rendition of the classic lobster roll. Dining at this New York-esque restaurant is an indulgent experience.

Apart from their impressive array of oysters, what is also worth trying is their Lobster Sliders which is served only during lunch. At S$45, you get a generous serving of sweet lobster flesh – from a 500g maine lobster – tucked nicely in a tall and thick brioche that is toasted to a pretty golden shade. Like how a happy marriage should be, Luke’s Lobster Sliders comes complete with a portion of good fries. So sinfully good.

Platypus Lobster Roll

#4 PLATYPUS LOBSTER SHACK

Platypus Lobster Shack is probably the only restaurant in Singapore that offers you a variety of lobster rolls – from the traditional to many modern and innovative takes like Smoked Paprika and Red Miso & Sesame. The lobster rolls are served during dinner only and they come with approximately 100g of Boston lobster, but the flesh is chunky enough and fills up every bun. But we’d say one is not filling enough.

All lobster rolls are priced at S$19.90, and S$22.90 for a set that comes with a small side salad and truffle potato chips. We wished the folks at Platypus would put in more effort in the presentation of the food, but for the price (cheapest on the list!) and its fresh supply of Boston lobsters, this is a restaurant we will return just for lobster rolls.

With daily fresh imports of wild-caught seafood and fish from different parts of the world, Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro is our go-to place when we feel like having seafood. The restaurant has recently introduced Lobster Roll (S$49) to the menu. Its rendition comes with a whole live Boston lobster (600g of meat) in a buttered roll, homemade chili and kaffir lime aioli, cherry tomatoes and super addictive truffle shoestring fries.

Clifford Pier Lobster Roll

#6 THE CLIFFORD PIER

A relatively new addition to Singapore’s dining scene, this elegant restaurant sits on a heritage site, and is full of charm and posh. It has a specially curated menu that reflects a mixture of local favourites and international classics. And yes, they have lobster roll (S$32) too.

A lovely serving of 150-200g of lobster meat generously coated with hollandaise sauce, The Clifford Pier’s lobster roll is a relatively value-for-money option. Coupled with shoestring truffle fries and a side salad, it makes a hearty meal.

Market Grill Lobster Roll

#7 THE MARKET GRILL

This is quite an undiscovered gem. Hidden in one of those little units along Telok Ayer Street, The Market Grill is a small but sexy diner that reminds us very much of London. Their Lobster Roll (S$45) is also the best we have had in singapore.

Expect nothing short of a fantastic serving – you get generous chunks of meat from a 500g lobster. Lighted coated with mayonnaise, the meat is snuggled in a pillow of soft brioche that is crispy on the surface, and warm and buttery on the inside. It comes complete with a side salad and fries.
