We have always been a fan of snow ice. This popular Taiwanese dessert – made of ribbons of flavoured ice topped with fresh fruits – is an indulgence, and a much-needed treat to combat Singapore’s weather.
Snow Colors Dessert & Bar – a simple, no-frills dessert shop located at the ground floor of Katong Plaza, just directly opposite the famous 328 Katong laksa – has brought this popular dessert to the next level by combining it with waffles. Brilliant move, we’d say.
A glorious mountain of snow ice piled atop piping hot and crispy waffle – It is like having the best of both worlds! We are surprised that no one had thought of this combination earlier. The other options include Waffles with butter and maple syrup (S$4), Waffles with fruits (S$7.50), and Waffles with snow ice & fruits (S$8.50). Go for the full works; it is satisfying as it is pretty. And the best part? No exorbitant price tags.
Waffles aside, Snow Colors offers quite an array of snow ice desserts (S$6) – from everyone’s favourite mango shaved ice, to the popular D24 durian snow ice with durian puree, Japanese matcha snow ice paired with red beans, and Chendol snow ice topped with candied red beans, green jelly and doused in gula melaka sauce.
The folks at Snow Colors are constantly testing new flavours in the kitchen, so we are looking forward to more interesting and creative creations from them. Snow Colors shares the same premise as Baba Peranakan, an eatery which dishes out earnest and affordable homecooked Peranakan cuisine. I would love to try the “Mango Rumble” from Snow Colors Dessert Bar, which will give my taste buds a touch of honey sweet and sour from the fresh mango cubes paired up with the softness of the snow ice with mango purée drizzled on!
I would also love to try the “Something Old Skool” from Snow Colors Dessert Bar, just as simple as it seems. But it’s delicious just on its own! Waffle is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Spread the crispy waffle with a cube of butter and drizzled with maple syrup to add on the fragrance with a touch of sweetness. The taste is… heaven!

OMG~!! This is where i celebrated my countdown. Drank a couple of beers right outside snow colours and never expected it to be a waffle + snow ice shop! I am really glad to come across this post since me and my friends have been wanting to have desserts around our area and we normally would go to ice cream chef.
Anyways, i would really want to try out unique favourites such as cheddol or bandung or even cheese favoured snow ice! That would be really cool! I am a choco addict so the cover picture looks really awesome! And a $100 voucher means like more than 10 of that!! ;D

The waffles with snow ice and mixed fruits!!! Looks absolutely delicious with the bright colors in it. With a slight twist by replacing the ice cream with snow ice makes it even more interesting! Moreover the mixed fruits makes you feel less guilty even after indulging in the waffles with snow ice

Hello! I really want to try the japanese matcha snow ice with red beans and also the D24 durian snow ice and puree. Both sound great by their names themselves. Of course it would also be great to try their waffles, especially the one pictured with chocolate – seems absolutely decadent!
