Thai massage is well-loved by the world, and among all the different massages, it is our favourite because it focuses on every part of the body, firm and strong at the core parts, and our bodies always feels a lot lighter after each session.
There are many cheap massage parlours in Bangkok – you can almost find one on every street and every corner – but not all of them are good. Here is a list of our favourite cheap massage places in Bangkok.
Chang Foot Massage & Spa
Chang Foot Massage & Spa has several outlets in Bangkok, but we like the one at Siam Square Soi 6. What we like about Chang is that the massages are very consistent. I have heard mixed experiences about Chang, but we have nothing but praises for their massages.

Health Land
Health Land needs no introduction. It is one of the most popular spas in Bangkok. There are various outlets in Bangkok, including Asok, Ekamai and Silom.
The scale of Health Land is impressive to say the least. The Asok branch is an eight-storied building with its own carpark.
While the interior of Health Land is very nicely done up – it feels more like a luxurious spa than a typical massage parlour – prices are surprisingly but pleasantly very reasonable, and a 2-hour traditional Thai massage is only THB500, which is the standard market rate and what you would get when you walk into any parlour by the roadside. It is no wonder that Health Land is packed with customers everyday, and reservations are most definitely required.

Khlongtoeinuea, Wattana

Lek Massage
Another massage place that we frequent when in Bangkok is Lek, which is also on Siam Square Soi 6, opposite Novotel Hotel. But this is also a place where your luck will be put to a test – some therapists are masters, while a handful of them are very rude and we could feel it through their inconsistent strokes that they are plain reluctant and lazy.
Nonetheless, the massage house is still worth a try. They have the Traditional Thai Massage (THB250/hour), but we highly recommend the Back, Shoulder & Neck Massage with Hot Compress (THB300/hour). It is very effective, especially if you have knots in those areas. Look for Boon Suay – she has more than 30 years of experience, gives a very good massage and is definitely the best therapist there.

Number One
After a long day of shopping at Platinum Fashion Mall and Pratunam Market, head to Number One which is tucked along Petchburi Soi 15. There are a few massage shops on the same stretch, but Number One is easily the most popular
Petchburi Soi 15

Daily: 9am – 1am
Nearest BTS: Chit Lom
Urban Retreat
Urban Retreat is more expensive than the usual massage parlours – THB500 for an hour of traditional Thai massage – but it is still affordable, and it is one of the more well-known spas in Bangkok. Treatments include Head & Shoulder Massage, Aroma Oil Massage, and Hot Stone Massage. The Asok outlet, located just beside the BTS, is very accessible.
Khlong Tan Nuea Vadhana

Daily: 10am – 10pm
Nearest BTS: Asoke
Lek massage was pretty much the worst massage I had in Bangkok on my recent trip.. Not sure if they have too many customers and the massuers were tired.. The massuer was just touching my leg with no strength at all & was so immersed in watching TV..
Number one was great though for both times I was there..
Lol ladyironchef “xx, xx and xx.”
TEMPLATE MUCH?
@Evewbb Lek used to be very good, but standards have dropped a lot. I went there twice during this trip, the first one was so bad that I had to ask them to change a masseur for me. The second one was great. So I think it is really hit and miss.
@LOL: Thank you for pointing that out, I have forgotten to edit from my draft to put in the treatment names.
Hi, can you let me know which building is that first pic of the bungalow? I remember going there but cant remember where it is or what the name of the spa was.
thanks
Me and my wife just stepped out of Chang just 5 min ago. And the verdict is that this is possibly, the worst massage we have ever had. We were looking forward to a massage after a strenous day of shopping in bangkok. Noticing how that Lek’s just further down was of good standard when we patronised them before, we felt that the author’s review of both Chang and Lek should be of equal standing.
We opted for an hour’s shoulder massage that would naturally include shoulder, back, neck and head massage. The masseuses began with back presses on our bones which was not at all relaxing, but was excruciating. She moved to sit on the top part of my buttock so that she can be more comfortable to massage my back which is fine but with each massage press, she rested her full body weight on me which was very uncomfortable for me.
I was sweating on my brows and neck throughout the massage and asked my wife how she was doing. She faced the exact same torturous experience as I. As the masseuses proceeded to our heads, she was just pressing hard on my temples. We decided to end the massage, or torture, prematurely. And as I am typing out this comment, I am dumbfounded as to how we decided to try Chang’s in the first place. Please stay away. The overall feeling is that they don’t have a clue what they were doing. I would however recommend So Thai Spa in Sukhumvit Soi 31, which is pricey for Bangkok’s standard but it is worth every penny.
Lavana Spa!
I completely agree that these places are good for having a massage. However I believe the best budget massage in Sukhumvit is Bai Po massage. Cheap prices and decent quality. Expats of bkk agree that this place is a place to go. !
I’ve been to Health Land before nice & clean place but massage is like sumo wrestling pain and worst the masseur kept asking for tipping which is a turn off.
The best part about bkk to me isn’t shopping, it’s thai massages! Twice a day w/o fail!
If you live in or are visiting the Thonglor area of Bangkok there is a very good massage shop I frequent called Tandy Massage in soi 53 (just a few doors up from Sukhumvit). It’s small but cozy and the staff are experienced , very welcoming and the quality of the massages are IMHO some of the best in Bangkok.
my personal favorite place to go to would be
My personal favorite place to go to would be Wat Pho Temple. cheap n good.
I visited Tandy massage mentioned above by Andy Ryan and had the most amazing experience called If memory serves me correctly The Tandy Classic Massage. It comprised Hot Towels Hot Oil and Hot Stones . Amazing.
I am nearing the end of a 7 week trip to Bangkok, Pattaya and other areas.
The first 10 days I could not find a decent quality massage.
Then I stopped by at a massage shop and ended up getting a daily massage there, since then I have dated the masseuse on a 24/7 basis.
Good result and great massages every day now
The quality of massage in Bangkok can be hit and miss. The masseuses vary wildly in experience.
Glad to see Chang Foot Massage & Spa made the list. It’s among the best I’ve found.
I did a Google search about the cheapest massage places and ended up here. Thanks for the tips. I found even cheaper places (only for Thai massages) and yet very high standards. Nearby Huai khuang MRT, walk east on
Thanon pracharat Bamphen. About 3 to 6 minutes. You’ll find 5 to 10 massage places. 1hr Thai massage for 180. 2 hours for 340. If you’re like me and go to a massage on a daily basis, this helps with your budget.
With a 10% tip, you “should” insure a fairly good massage in my experience. I’m impressed with Thai massage, really. Compared to China, the price is twice as low and they do twice as much effort. They don’t use too often their elbow while resting their hands.
I say that because some masseuges don’t know how to apply pressure through elbow and it can be excruciatingly painful even for me who love strong ones.
Could someone pinpoint a cheaper place than 340 for 2 hrs?
NB: interesting how foot massages can be more expensive than Thai in some centres. In China, foot massages are always the cheapest, not exception.
