The Playground Coffee – New Neighbourhood Cafe In Jurong West

The Playground Coffee

We have good news for those who live in the west of Singapore—a new cafe has started operations at Nanyang Community Centre. Yes, that means another place for residents and students to chill at other than Archipelago Creamery.

The Playground Coffee is a small, yet spacious cafe with an all-encompassing menu that is suitable for those who are dropping by for a simple afternoon tea or a filling lunch. All items on their menu are below S$16 and visitors do not have to pay for GST or service charge.

The Playground Coffee Interior

The interior design is kept simple with white walls, light brown wooden furniture and potted plants to boast a calm and soothing vibe. It is a wonderful place to relax and have coffee with your friends but the waiting time may not be ideal for those who do not have time to spare.

The Playground Coffee Truffle Fries

The best thing we had there was their Truffle Fries (S$9) which was served warm from the kitchen and had a strong truffle aroma. Taste-wise, it definitely lived up to our high expectations and all of us agreed that the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is a winning factor.

The Playground Coffee Hearty Breakfast

As for the mains, we decided to go for the Hearty Breakfast (S$16). It is your standard cafe fare which comes with Frankische sausage, sliced back bacon, balsamic mixed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, baked beans, slaw salad, multigrain toast and your choice of eggs.

We had our eggs in sous-vide style and the eggs were cooked to just the right doneness. It was beautifully executed with runny egg yolk running out when we cut the eggs in the middle.

The Playground Coffee Sticky Pudding

The Playground Coffee’s Sticky Date Pudding (S$7) came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream at the side. Unlike the usual ones found outside, it is slightly more crumbly and breaks easily. If you have a sweet tooth, you should enjoy the rich and sweet flavours from the caramel sauce.

The Playground Coffee Food Menu

Alternatively, other food items you can find there include Salmon Grain Bowl (S$16), Teriyaki Chicken Donburi (S$12) and Smoked Duck Aglio Olio (S$14).

The Playground Coffee Drinks Menu

Tea lovers can go for Charcoal Oolong (S$6) and Earl Grey Lavender (S$6). If you are there for coffee, try their specialty coffee such as Cappuccino (S$5) and Mocha (S$5.50).
