We are one of those loyal fans who would patiently stand in line and to wait for the batches of fresh bakes, because no trip to Japan would be complete without a baked cheese tart or two. Ok, we lied. We always have more than two.

It is true – cheese tarts are the new salted egg yolk of food trends here in Singapore because it genuinely seems like everyone is working on and introducing new cheese tart dishes. Of course, the undisputed winner – BAKE Cheese Tart – still has a special place in our hearts, but we are definitely on the look-out for more.
We chanced upon Nigiro Cafe’s unique Churro Cheese Tart (S$4.80) and decided to give it a shot because it has an irresistible molten centre that just looked too good to pass up on! Nigiro Cafe is a Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant and it sits inside Eat at Seven at Suntec City.
Although the restaurant might be a little to tricky to locate, our trip was so worth it and here is why.

The Queen’s Cats is aptly named after the British’s favourite pastime – afternoon tea. The European-inspired cafe at Holland Village serves a delectable array of premium cakes, pastries, scones, teas and of the like. While prices here are admittedly steep by cafess standards, what customers get in return is a satisfying afternoon tea fix at any time of the day.
Set foot into the attractive cafe and be greeted by plush cushion seats and sparkly chandeliers. Beautiful artworks from Singapore Arts Gallery are hung on the tiffany blue walls and some of these masterpieces are available for purchase.
For obvious reasons, the cafe’s clientele consists of mainly ladies, but who said afternoon tea is only reserved for the females? Guys, come on in!

We did it and it proved to be among the most talked about highlights of our recently concluded wedding celebrations. Llaollao Catering is the newest arm of the very popular Spanish froyo brand, and it is an idea that is nothing short of refreshing. Our guests agreed that arriving early for the cocktail reception was well worth it.
All coffee lovers must have heard of the famous Omotesando Koffee in Tokyo. What was meant to be a pop-up store at a tiny, traditional Japanese house in Omotesando’s residential area ended up lasting for an extended period of five whopping years.
Name of its novelty spread far and wide – even tourists were making special trips to check out Omotesando Koffee.
Sadly, Tokyo’s famous Omotesando Koffee’s has shut its doors approximately half a year ago. But that is not the end of the beloved coffee brand. There are now a few outlets across Japan and the hipster coffee shop has too recently opened its very first international outpost in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Hong Kongers you guys have no idea how jealous we are!
