Take The “No Waste” Challenge & Win A GoPro Camera, Daniel Wellington Watches

No Waste Challenge

People often associate good deeds with heaps of money or other big commitments. But these assumptions are not entirely right because you can still contribute to society without large amounts of time and/or money.

You can begin with everyday habits and that on its own is already a good cause! Think about how not wasting your food is one. It is really that simple, and by simply finishing everything on your plate, you are minimizing food wastage and that is already helping the environment. While the problem of increased wastage might not threaten us directly, our descendants will be the ones to clean up our mess.

To encourage everyone to commence this green movement, Singapore’s National Environment Agency is inviting everybody to participate in a “No Waste Days” Challenge, where selected participants stand a chance to win either a GoPro Hero4 Silver Camera worth S$590 or Daniel Wellington Watches worth S$198 each for their commendable actions in leaving less carbon footprints behind. Read on more to find out how we can all be part of this meaningful cause and how you can participate in this contest.

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE PART IN THE “NO WASTE” CHALLENGE

Imagine living in a dumpster.

While the above scenario is too extreme for Singaporeans to imagine, a fact remains true – land is extremely scarce in Singapore. The rapidly increasing amount of trash is straining our already limited resources and in the future, Singapore will be struggling to build more incineration plants and landfills to cope with garbage.

The undesirable results such as polluted lands and exorbitant properties could be reduced and everyone can help to reduce the potential environmental damage and possible economic inflation in property prices.

Before we commence on what this challenge is all about, we just want to say that this movement does not require much effort on your part and you might not see its immediate effect – but each small action goes a long, long way.

From bringing your own shopping bags to actually finishing the food you order, these little gestures are a great way to start giving back to the environment. So shall we all take the effort to do something for our environment? Gather your family, friends and colleagues to join in this challenge and you might be rewarded with cool prizes.

For solo participants: Demonstrate an eco-friendly action, capture the act and upload it on your public Instagram account with the following hashtags #NoWasteDays and #NoWasteDaysHero. If you are at a lost on what you could capture, do know that it could simply be a picture of you taking the last bite of your lunch . Or even a picture of you bringing your own reusable coffee mug for your daily dose of latte to cut down the number of wasted disposable cups.

For a team of two: Follow @Be_EcoWithMe on Instagram and look out for their weekly posts where they would ask simple questions twice a week till Friday, 4 December 2015. To take part, both participants have to repost the picture with the hashtags #NoWasteDays and #NowWasteDaysTagTeam. You would have to tag your friend in the image and include the answer in your caption. Sounds simple, isn’t it!
