Tonkichi Tonkatsu Restaurant Singapore

Tonkichi

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been on a hunt for the best Tonkatsu in Singapore, and since Tonkichi Restaurant has always been known as one of the top tonkatsu speciality restaurants, I decided to go there for my first stop. It has been a while since my last visit to Tonkichi, so I was quite excited to try it again.

After having the tonkatsu at Tonkichi, I’m thrilled to say that it is still as good as before, and I will go so far as to say that they have one of the best tonkatsu in Singapore.

London in HD Full Colours

London

When I was planning my trip to Europe last year, I told myself that London must be included in the itinerary. Which is strange because London has never been one of the must-go cities for me. I guess it is partly because of my friends. Many of them are frequent visitors to London, and they have nothing but good things to say about the city.

London is indeed a stunning city. I don’t think I’ll ever love it like how I love Paris, or Barcelona, but I definitely want to come back again to learn more about her.

Regrettably, my stay in London was short, and I didn’t manage to try everything on my list of must-go places. I guess that’s my excuse for going back to London again! Anyway, here are some of the shots that I took, hope you like them!

Social Media Week Hong Kong

Hong Kong

For those of you who are familiar with the online scene, I’m sure you know that Social Media Week took place on 13-17 Feb this year. I was invited by the kind folks at Harbour City – the biggest shopping mall in Hong Kong – to go to the land of dim sum as a speaker for one of the four social media events that they’ve organised.

The topic for our discussion – “Building an appetite for social: What’s cooking in the F&B industry” – as you might have guessed, had something to do with food. Our #SMWHKFood panel of six spoke on different things ranging from ‘which are our favourite social media platforms,’ to ‘how to make people hungry.’

Mikuni Robatayaki Restaurant Fairmont Singapore

Mikuni

I first heard of Mikuni Japanese Restaurant during their official opening in September last year. But I had something on and couldn’t make it for the launch party. Time passed quickly and somehow I didn’t get a chance to drop by for a meal.

Fast forward a few months, I received another invitation from Fairmont Hotel Singapore to visit Mikuni for their Winter Robata, a culinary special featuring Hokkaido’s finest produce and flavours.

Yayoiken Restaurant Liang Court

Yayoiken

I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that have good food at affordable prices, but I don’t have much luck when it comes to Japanese food as most places tend to be a) cheap but mediocre, or b) good but expensive.

Beatrice, Velda and I were craving for Japanese food after our meeting with the folks from Intel and Toshiba, so we went to Liang Court, also known as little Japan in Singapore. While walking around, we chanced upon Yayoiken, a new Japanese Restaurant at the entrance of Meidi-ya supermarket.

After having lunch there, I’ll go so far as to say that my hunt for a place that serves inexpensive and good Japanese food has ended with Yayoiken at Liang Court.

Bedrock Bar & Grill Steakhouse

Bedrock Bar & Grill

One of my strategies for finding good restaurants is through recommendations from friends. I am lucky to have many friends who are “into” food, so I can always trust them to update me about their new favourite restaurants.

A few of my friends have been telling me about Bedrock steakhouse, and whenever they feel like having steaks, I know I’ll most likely be able to find them there.

Bedrock Bar & Grill at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites is a modern New York style steakhouse – opened by restaurateur Keith Loh, who is also the owner of Oriole Cafe. The restaurant boosts a dark, sexy, and classy interior; making it the ideal place to bring your client for a business luncheon, or your date for a romantic dinner.
