Cafe Melba is opening a third outlet at Mount Sophia (near Dhoby Ghaut) in March 2021.

#2 ESPLANADE

Singapore’s primary performing arts centre, the Esplanade, or affectionately known as the “durian” is where Singaporeans frequent to watch performances, dine, or simply unwind with a walk by the Marina Bay waterfront.

#3 GARDENS BY THE BAY

Since July 2016, Gardens by the Bay has launched a new fleet of free wheelchair-friendly passenger shuttles that are sponsored by SMRT.

These spacious 22-seater electric minibuses come with a foldable access ramp at its rear and will bring passengers from Bayfront MRT station to the Conservatories for free. Furthermore, non-slip gantries have been installed and the pathways within the Conservatories are wide and easy for wheelchair users to move around with ease.

With 90% of the Night Safari accessible by wheelchair, wheelchair-bound visitors do not need to worry about getting around and having the time of their lives at the Night Safari. Not only are there paved pathways, the Night Safari has helpfully allocated viewing areas for disabled guests for various exhibits and shows.

For visitors who require a wheelchair to move around the park, wheelchairs are available at the park’s entrance free-of-charge and on a first-come-first-served basis. Besides that, the Night Safari has designated parking lots on the first level of the multi-storey car park for disabled visitors and there are wheelchair-friendly restrooms too.

#9 REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE NAVY MUSEUM

For those who have a keen interest in the Singapore Navy, it is a no-brainer that the Republic of Singapore Navy Museum would be the best place to visit for a comprehensive understanding of the Singapore Navy’s growth as a modern and integrated maritime fighting force.

A wheelchair-friendly museum, there are parking spaces for handicapped visitors and accessible toilets found on the first and third levels of the museum.

#10 RIVER SAFARI

Catering for the comfort and convenience of visitors, the River Safari provides wheelchairs free-of-charge for disabled guests at their park’s entrance. Guests with limited mobility have the option of exploring the park on a mobility scooter for a rental fee of S$35.

Otherwise, most of the park has paved pathways and barrier-free access for wheelchair-bound visitors. Disabled-friendly restrooms are located across the park and disabled visitors can park at designated parking areas directly in front of the Singapore Zoo so long as they display a disability sticker on their vehicle.

#11 S.E.A. AQUARIUM

Enter a marine universe like no other at S.E.A. Aquarium—home to more than 100,000 marine animals from over 1,000 species—spread out across 50 diverse habitats. This would be the perfect day out for marine wildlife enthusiasts.

The aquarium offers barrier-free accessibility for the handicapped. Most routes in the S.E.A. Aquarium can be accessed by wheelchairs and the iconic Ocean Dome can be accessed via the lift situated at the back of the Ocean Gallery. Wheelchairs are also available for rental at S$15 (non-refundable) plus a refundable cash deposit of S$50 for use within the attraction.

#12 SINGAPORE ART MUSEUM

To dive deep into international contemporary art practices in Singapore and Southeast Asia, there is no other place to be than the Singapore Art Museum. The museum currently stands in a restored 19th-century mission school and it is also the first art museum to open in Singapore.

Wheelchair-bound visitors would appreciate that the Singapore Art Museum has wheelchair lifts and permanent ramps in the museum.

#13 SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS

Boasting a rich heritage of more than 150 years, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is not a the proud recipient of its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also a place where many Singaporeans frequent during the week for some exercise.

Although not all parts of the Singapore Botanic Gardens are wheelchair-friendly due to its hilly terrain, the Botany Centre and entrance to the gardens are wheelchair accessible. The reserved disabled carpark lot is located at the Cluny Road entrance.

#14 SINGAPORE DISCOVERY CENTRE

At the Singapore Discovery Centre, visitors will be able to learn about Singapore’s milestones and achievements through hi-tech and interactive exhibits. From participating in a Crisis Simulation Centre to taking control at the Battlefield Command, visitors will have the most enjoyable time there.

The Singapore Discovery Centre has a designated disabled parking lot located outside the building and there are accessible public toilets for the disabled in the main lobby and iWERKS lobby.

At the Singapore Flyer, there are well-designed ramps, lifts and handicapped toilets. In addition, the car park, ticket booth and boarding area are located within close proximity to the lift which eases accessibility for wheelchair-bound individuals

And for those who are concerned about the boarding process, there is no need to worry as the staff of the Singapore Flyer will adjust the speed of the capsule so as to allow wheelchair-bound individuals to board safely.

Presenting the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through over 1000 exciting, hands-on and interactive exhibits, the Singapore Science Centre is akin to a child’s playground where both children and adults would be thoroughly entertained by all that they encounter.

Physically handicapped visitors can loan wheelchairs at the entrance of the Singapore Science Centre at no cost, subject to a first-come-first-served basis. The Singapore Science Centre also has designated parking lots for the disabled and their toilets have facilities for users with disabilities.

Priding itself as the world’s best rainforest zoo, the 64-acre Singapore Zoo is a must-visit for animal lovers. With more than 2800 animals spanning over more than 300 species, you will be in for a day of fun and entertainment at the Singapore Zoo.
