A lovely weekday afternoon, a quiet day to unwind and relax, a trip to W39 Bistro and Bakery in West Coast. We’ve heard a fair bit about this neighbourhood gem in the West, and a recent trip made us understand why it is well-loved for many reasons.

This guide to Singapore’s best waffles was last updated on 24 Feb 2015.
Topped with fresh fruits, a scoop of ice cream, and a dollop of whipped cream, a good waffle is something that you can eat every day. For those of you who prefer something simpler, waffle with maple syrup and butter is equally gratifying.
There are many cafes and ice cream parlours that offer waffles on the menu, but only a few are exceptional. Here is our guide on where to get the best waffles in Singapore.

If you were at the Orchard area last weekend, you would have spotted nydc’s ‘Mini Cafe’ along the streets. To celebrate its new menu launch, the good people from the New York Dessert Cafe set up a ‘Mini Cafe’ where friends, couples and young families can have a little fun, share nydc’s joy while snapping photos and stand a chance to win attractive prizes when they participate in nydc’s Instagram Contest. Check out the photos by searching #iheartnydc on Instagram.

After snapping some photos at the ‘Mini Cafe’, 3 lucky winners joined me at nydc’s Wheelock outlet to sample some of the dishes from its new menu which now offers over 30 dessert items, 20 hot food items, four kids’ meals and 40 beverages. What makes nydc a place to return again and again is surely the variety on its menu. With so many gorgeous desserts and tantalising savoury food to choose from, there is always something for everyone.
Here are some of the highlights of nydc’s new menu.

Antoinette is a Parisian style tea salon, helmed by chef Pang Kok Keong, who is arguably one of the most talented pastry chefs in Singapore. His fourth outlet at Palais Renaissance, Le Jardin d’Antoinette, is modelled after Versailles’s expansive outdoor garden. It is the perfect place to go with your girlfriends to enjoy a quiet afternoon.
I’ve tried the whole collection at Antoinette’s, and below is a complete guide to their cakes.

Awfully Chocolate is a familiar name for chocolate lovers. Who can resist their famous dark chocolate cake, and the signature ‘hei‘ ice cream?
When I heard from my friends that the folks at Awfully Chocolate have started a new restaurant, Loola’s by Awfully Chocolate, I was excited for two reasons. First, it is located at the beautiful Esplanade with a great view of the Marina bayfront line.
What caught my attention, though, is the array of desserts at Loola’s – with most of them not available at the regular Awfully Chocolate stores.
If you are looking for a place to satisfy your sweet tooth, Loola’s by Awfully Chocolate is worth a try.

Note: All Good Things is no longer in operation.
All Good Things – a terrific tiny cake shop on Rodyk Street Robertson Quay, serves a selection of gluten free cakes. It is a good place to stop by to grab a coffee and a slice of cake when in the vicinity.

The merest mention of the word “cake” can turn my head, so naturally, I am always on the lookout for places to try. If you are a dessert lover like me, you must check out Grin Affair, a new cake shop – nestled in the quiet Everton Park estate (where you can also find Nylon Coffee Roasters) – which serves cakes in glass jars.

Holland Village is known as a cluster of restaurants which has a mix of different cuisines. The newest addition to the area is MU Parlour – a cafe serving desserts, burgers, and cocktails. Prices range from $4 to $6.50 for a dessert, while you can get their ‘gourmet’ burgers for $13 to $16.
It is easy to miss MU Parlour if you are not paying special attention to the shops on the second level. It’s the kind of place that is introduced through friends’ recommendations. And this is exactly how we came to know about it.
