Soup Restaurant Singapore

Sansui Ginger Chicken

To most people, soup is comfort food. And lucky for me, I am fortunate to have home-cooked soup prepared lovingly by my mom all the time. This probably explains why it has never crossed my mind to step into the hugely popular Soup Restaurant. Until today.

Soup Restaurant probably needs no further introduction; it is a household name for double-boiled soup and homely Chinese fare.

Guide to Restaurants near SMRT Circle Line

AdvertorialCircle Line map

The Circle Line (CCL) is Singapore’s fourth Mass Rapid Transit line, operated by SMRT. With the opening of the final 11 stations last month, running from Caldecott to HarbourFront, it marks the completion of the entire Circle Line.

The new additions are really great as they link us to places like the up-and-coming one-north, and the ever popular Holland Village. Food lovers may now rejoice for travelling to Holland Village is made so much more convenient and travelling time is easily halved with the dedicated station!

Since the Circle Line has opened up more opportunities for us to explore the various parts of Singapore that we wouldn’t have otherwise gone before, I thought it would be interesting to do up a post featuring some of the restaurants at the vicinity of each station! Yay to new reasons for us to venture out for more food!

Here’s my Guide to the restaurants near Circle Line Stations.

1 Caramel Patisserie Dessert Boutique

Hazelnut praline

Updated on 23 Apr 2014: 1 Caramel is no longer in operations.

1 Caramel Patisserie used to be located at The Luxe at Handy road (besides The Cathay). They have since shifted to Rochester Park, sharing the space with their sister restaurant, 1 Rochester.

With only a few tables in a narrow rectangular space, 1 Caramel dessert boutique at Rochester Park is much smaller than before. But I like the cosy feel of the new outlet; it is a lovely dessert place to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake for a quiet afternoon high tea.

Hummerstons Restaurant at Robertson Walk

Pancakes

Updated on 23 Apr 2014: The restaurant is no longer in operations.

I have a love-hate relationship with brunch. I really like the idea of sleeping in during weekends and waking up late for brunch. But sometimes, I can’t help but feel that we are short-changing ourselves by only eating brunch, instead of having breakfast AND lunch.

Luckily, there are certain things in life that can get you out of bed on a weekend morning, and one of them is attending your good friend’s birthday breakfast (though I think birthday brunch sounds nicer than breakfast).

Hummerstons restaurant at Robertson Walk features comfort food like burgers, pastas, truffle fries and breakfast. Even though I go to Robertson Quay quite often, I’ve never seen the restaurant before. It is the perfect place for a quiet dinner with your date.

The Marmalade Pantry at the Stables

Marmalade Pantry Stables

Words by Jolene Koh of Cupcake Weekend, Photos by ladyironchef

The first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Marmalade Pantry? Cupcakes, tea & probably their famous crab meat linguine. While the outlet at Ion Orchard is well known for housing tai-tais for their afternoon high-tea and weekend brunch, the recently opened Marmalade Pantry at the Stables gives a country-side feel that is more casual whilst upholding a chic restaurant image.
