Bangkok’s Iconic Pratunam Market To Lose Hundreds Of Vendors – Will It Still Be The Same?

It is no secret that Singaporeans love visiting the capital of Thailand for its glorious street food and of course, their awesome retail therapy destinations. We are certain that pretty much everyone has visited Bangkok’s Pratunam Market – a vibrant open-air bazaar renowned for the sale of fashion accessories and garments at cheap, wholesale prices.

However, the iconic Pratunam Market that most shoppers are familiar with will soon be undergoing a major change. According to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, 112 of the market’s outdoor vendors would be evicted by 08 March 2016 and subsequently, more stalls will be asked to relocate. This massive shift is necessary to facilitate pedestrian flow.

Pratunam Market’s impending loss of hundreds of vendors is definitely not a subtle change. Will the bazaar remain the same as it was before?

Vanilla Garden enjoys a lavish space at Ekkamai. Like a secret hideout in a labyrinth, Vanilla Garden is lovely, peaceful and cosy. Garden benches, fountains and little corners make up the outdoors of the precinct; beautiful butterflies are often spotted, so are occasional squirrels.

It is like a scene from a storybook. We are only missing Alice here.

Home to a cafe and a desserts room, Vanilla Garden is a destination in Bangkok to note, for it is most definitely worth the visit.

It has been a few months since our last visit to Bangkok, and little did we expect to see the surprise outside Platinum Fashion Mall. There is a whole new stretch of food trucks just right outside the most popular wholesale mall in Bangkok, and it sure is a new food paradise worth checking out when in the Thai city.

Fanciful ice cream, Japanese curry rice, fried chicken and mango sticky rice; these are but a few to name.

And what seemed like the most popular truck that gets everyone’s attention was the stall right outside McDonald’s – Demi Concept. It is really a food truck that sells gorgeous Japanese soft serve cones.

Bangkoku Cafe – An Off-The-Grid Cafe In Bangkok That Is Worth Checking Out

While strolling down a less populated part of Bangkok, we stumbled upon a small and quirky cafe – Bangkoku Cafe, which immediately sparked our interest. Located just beside one of Bangkok’s most popular old-school barbers – Good Old Days Barber Shop – we were delighted by the cosy cafe’s reasonably priced drinks.

Sprawled on the walls are various menu items, from typical coffee to some very interesting alcoholic cocktails. Although this cafe has a limited food menu of a few cakes and sweet treats, the great drinks were enough to keep us happy.

With so many overly-publicised big cafes in Bangkok, it was nice to see a simple and humble cafe like Bangkoku Cafe.
