While we love Singapore’s duck rice, we admittedly prefer Bangkok’s duck rice a tad bit more. We don’t know how they do it but most of the ducks that we have tried here have turned out more succulent and tender as compared to the ones that we have had in Singapore.

While there aren’t as many stalls in Bangkok that sell duck rice as there are that sell chicken rice, we know a handful of good ones to recommend to you. One of them would be Pondtip Pratunam, a humble stall that sells an array of scrumptious Thai food which includes duck noodles and rice.

Conveniently located right smack in the middle of busy Pratunam, Pondtip Pratunam is the perfect pitstop for ravenous shopaholics who need a mid-shopping perk-me-up.

We recommend getting the Soya Duck Rice (60 baht) which comes with succulent duck slices atop a mound of white rice and a side of blood pudding and chilli sauce.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

What we love about the duck here is how it is so outrageously moist and tender despite being cooked for such a long period of time. In similar cases, the duck usually ends up dry and tough, so having such well-cooked duck is certainly refreshing.

We also recommend dunking the duck into the provided chilli for an extra spicy kick. To be honest, we don’t feel that the duck needs any more enhancement as it already is good on its own but if you love to have your food with a little spice, you definitely need to try the duck with their chilli.

Our absolute favourite dish here would hands down be the Stewed Duck Rice (80 baht) which features a massive stewed duck leg accompanied with white rice, pudding blood and their signature chilli.

The duck meat here is the definition of fall-off-the-bone as it was so easy for us to tear off strips of meat due to the duck flesh being so tender. We find the duck in this dish significantly more succulent and flavourful than the one we had for soya duck rice and each bite was packed full of umami.

If you’re a duck lover who happens to be popping by Pratunam area, please try the duck here! If you aren’t a fan of rice, they also have a few noodle dishes on their menu for you to choose from.

While Bangkok is well-known for its shopping and food scene, it also boasts an incredibly rich and unique history. If you want to immerse yourself in Bangkok’s beautiful culture but you don’t know where to start, one of the places that you need to add to your Bangkok itinerary is the Grand Palace.

Located in the old city of Bangkok on the banks of the famous Chao Phraya river, this majestic, sacred landmark is nothing short of breathtaking. We recommend that you visit this along with other famous sites such as Wat Arun and Wat Pho, which are all a short distance from each other.

Before embarking on your journey, please note that there is a very strict dress code that you need to adhere to or you will not be able to enter the palace grounds. If you are not dressed properly, you will not be allowed to enter the palace and you may have to purchase clothes to change into onsite.

Men are expected to wear long pants with shirts that have sleeves. Women, on the other hand, should be modestly dressed in clothing that covers the shoulders and legs. Covered shoes are recommended but if you want to wear sandals, it is advisable to wear socks with them.

When we visited the temple, the temple was filled with throngs of people and it was very crowded, so for those of you who hate crowds, do take note of this before you visit the place.

Entry tickets cost 500 baht per person.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

We found the pork belly to be slightly overdone and too tough for our liking. That being said, we still enjoyed the light and fluffy egg omelette which was well seasoned.

For the ultimate breakfast platter, get their Brunch Plate (THB500) which has all the breakfast items you can ever dream of.

This enormous plate features bacon, sausage, ham, parma ham, salami, cheese, fruits, bread, homemade pancakes, yogurt with muesli and eggs of your choice (scrambled/fried/omelette).

Soei Restaurant is a popular casual dining establishment in Bangkok which has received many good reviews from their loyal customers. Since the place is frequented by both locals and tourists, we decided that we have to give this place a try during our recent trip to Bangkok.

The main appeal of Soei Restaurant lies in its effort in ensuring that all the dishes are up to the restaurant founder, chef P’Soei Kurtcharoen’s high standards. Every dish has to go through him and gain his approval before it is served to guests.

You can expect prices to be affordable at this restaurant, ranging from THB100 to THB150/ for most dishes. Drop by this restaurant for decent Thai food if you happen to be around the area.

It is not advisable to visit Soei if you are in a rush as the food takes some time to be prepared.

Our favourite dish of that night was the Stir-Fried Glass Noodle (THB120). Only simple ingredients such as egg, sausage and onions can be found in this dish but the noodles were extremely fragrant and flavourful. This is definitely a must-try dish when you visit Soei Restaurant.

There were hits and misses when it came to their Stir-Fried Green Curry With Soft Ribs (THB100). While we loved the rich green curry which came with a spicy kick, the spare ribs were only mediocre and we felt that there are better ones out there.

Even so, we enjoyed having the tasty green curry with white rice—nobody can beat the Thais when it comes to green curry for sure!

Be warned that the spice level for Basil Leaves And Chilli With Frog (THB100) may be slightly intimidating for the average person. The minced frog meat was full-flavoured and had the right amount of seasoning.

If we had to nitpick on something, that would be the overwhelming amount of chilli padi seeds which makes it difficult to enjoy the dish properly.

We would recommend skipping the Deep-Fried Marinated Pork (THB100). Not only was the portion much smaller as compared to the rest, the meat was overdone which resulted in a dry and tough texture.

Jatujak Green—or commonly known as JJ Green Market—is one of our favourite night markets in Bangkok. Situated near to the popular Chatuchak Market, JJ Green Market is where you will find both locals and tourists indulging in Thailand’s best street food, haggling prices with retail stall owners and chilling the night away with a beer or two.

The crowd starts coming in after 5pm and the place is most happening from Thursday to Sunday nights. If you are not planning to take a cab because of the peak hour jam, you can take a slow walk from Mo Chit BTS Station.

Not sure what to do or eat there? Take a look at our guide to JJ Green Market.

#1 HAVE YOUR DINNER AT ONE OF THE MANY EATERIES THERE

There are many Thai eateries in JJ Green Market serving a range of local and fusion food. Depending on your preference that day, choose to have a hot bowl of tom yum goong or go for some Japanese-inspired ramen noodles that day.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The flavourful broth and tender meat won our hearts in an instant and we found ourselves polishing off the bowl within minutes. In fact, it was so good that we would come back to JJ Green Market just to have this again!

Watch the chefs in action as they whip up your food right in front of your eyes.

#2 MUNCH ON FINGER FOOD AND LIGHT BITES

If you are not having a meal there, go for some snacks instead. It is impossible to resist the strong aroma of street food when you are walking around JJ Green Market. What we suggest for you to do is to munch on some light bites along the way as you wander around the market.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Those are looking for some side dishes to complement your meal, we highly recommend the Omelette with minced shrimp (THB60/S$2.47). This classic Thai dish is masterfully executed there—think fluffy egg omelette with savoury bits of shrimp that enhances the overall taste of the omelette. Yes, it was so good that we finished every morsel of it.

True Love Cafe may be the most popular Husky cafe in Bangkok right now, but one animal cafe that is increasingly gaining the attention of all animal lovers is Little Zoo Cafe in Siam.

This animal cafe features all sorts of animals such as dogs, cats and birds of different breeds. To top it all off, there are also exotic animals such as an Arctic fox, a Fennec fox and a raccoon.

Do not be taken aback, as all the animals are tame and docile when they play with humans. Entrance to the cafe is free, but all visitors are expected to purchase a main and drink each in order to maintain the welfare of the animals.

Expect to see domestic pets such as this Pekingese who stole the hearts of many visitors that day. The obedient dog is a joy to play with and loves to laze around while enjoying a scratch from many willing human friends.

Other dog breeds they have include the cheeky Chihuahuas who never seem to get tired of dashing around the cafe, giving the entire space a lively atmosphere.

You no longer have to travel all the way to the Sahara of North Africa to see a Fennec fox! Little Zoo Cafe has two such foxes and these feisty creatures are mind-blowingly beautiful when you see them up close in real life.

We decided to go for the Omelette Lava Rice (THB215/S$8.84), Hamburg Steak With Rice (THB265/S$10.90), Thai Iced Tea (THB155/S$6.37) and Latte Frappe (THB165/S$6.79).

While the food is not spectacular, the standard is decent as compared to many other themed cafes in Bangkok.

One of the latest addition to Bangkok’s thriving night market scene is ChangChui in Thonburi district. The term ‘”chui” refers to being disorganised in the Thai language but do not be deceived by its name—the huge lifestyle space is a one-stop destination for everything art related.

Think fashion apparel stalls, concept cafes, food trucks and a vintage cinema for the film buffs. The creative co-working space looks more like a page in a fairy tale book than the usual boisterous Thai night markets you are used to seeing in Bangkok.

If you are thinking of visiting this creative night market in Bangkok, here are 7 Things Not To Miss Out When You Are In ChangChui.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#1 THERE IS AN OLD AEROPLANE IN THE CENTRE OF CHANGCHUI

It is impossible to miss this old aeroplane right smack in the middle of ChangChui market. Yes, you can now imagine how enormous this market is; there is still plenty of space to roam around.

Spice up your Instagram feed by taking your OOTD pictures right in front of this aeroplane!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#2 FOOD TRUCKS AND FOOD STALLS

The inner hipsters in us were thrilled to see all these food trucks around the market. If you are feeling hungry from all the shopping, head to any of these vans and get yourself some bites.

Check out this cheese toastie stall in ChangChui—the generous amount of melted cheese sandwiched in between lightly toasted bread is our idea of perfection. Do not forget to do a cheese pull for your Boomerang video!

You can get a cheese toastie for THB49/S$2.03 at ChangChui.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

There are many takeaway kiosks offering finger food such as grilled squid where you can have them on the go too. Those who are feeling peckish but not in the mood for a full meal can go around trying various kind of light bites as you walk around.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

For a taste of local food, drop by Mr. M food van and try their Green Curry Fried Chicken Rice and the Original Fried Chicken Rice with Spicy Sauce. While the food is not the best we have tried in Bangkok, they are decent for its price point.

Both are going at THB65/S$2.67 each.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#3 SO MANY COFFEE SHOPS TO CHOOSE FROM

There is no lack of good coffee shops in ChangChui but the one that left the deepest impression on us was One Ounce For Onion. While the lifestyle cafe is not new to Bangkok, we would still recommend visiting this concept outlet at ChangChui.

Bookworms will enjoy browsing the collection of books displayed around the coffee bar. A night of reading paired with an aromatic cuppa is one of the best ways to unwind from the pressures of life.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

Prefer al fresco seating instead where you can take in the cool night breeze? Head over to Oldman Cafe where you can indulge in craft beers, live music and a menu showcasing a selection of western food.

#4 SHOP TILL YOU DROP

For the uninitiated, ChangChui is a project by Somchai Songwattana—the owner of Flynow which is an established fashion brand in Thailand.

As the brainchild of a clothing designer, you can expect ChangChui to be home to many fashion apparel brands. With so many options there, surely there will be something that will catch your eye!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#5 GET YOURSELF A TATTOO

No creative space is complete without the addition of a tattoo parlour as tattoo art is an extremely popular way of self expression. If you are feeling up to it, you can even make a bold statement by getting an outrageous tattoo art. Just be sure you won’t regret it afterwards!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#6 HAVE FUN AT SHOOTING GAMES

Are tattoos too extreme for you? Not to worry! You can try your hand at shooting games instead. We are more than glad to see this classic fun fair attraction in ChangChui as the game never gets old.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

#7 CATCH A FILM AT THIS VINTAGE THEATRE

Skip your usual cinemas and come to this vintage theatre instead. Instead of blockbuster movies, you can expect screenings such as documentaries and films by local talents. On top of that, do keep a lookout for occasional performances as well.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

Entry to ChangChui sets an adult back at THB100/S$4.11. However, it is complimentary for those who are disabled and all children below 120cm.
