10 Things To Do In Singapore

Things to do in Singapore

For the opening of this blog post on the Things to Do in Singapore, I wanted to show the beautiful Singapore Skyline, but I decided to use a photo of food since it sums up Singapore nicely — eating is our way of life.

I always receive emails from overseas readers asking me to suggest some of the things that they can do while having holiday in Singapore. So I have been working on this little project for a while, going to different places to explore and take photos.

Here is my list of 10 Things To Do In Singapore:

Laurent Bernard Chocolatier

Laurent Bernard Chocolatier

When it comes to chocolate desserts, no one does it better than Laurent Bernard Chocolatier. Formerly known as The Chocolate Factory, the newly renamed Laurent’s Café & Chocolate Bar has two branches at Robertson Quay and Portsdown road. Whenever I’m having dinner at the Robertson Quay restaurants, I always find it hard to decide between Canele Patisserie or Laurent Bernard for desserts.

For those of you who are having a chocolate craving, I’m sure Laurent’s Cafe & Chocolate Bar can satisfy you with the chocolatey truffle cake, my favourite Plaisir Sucré, the delicious chocolate tart and of course, their famous Chocolate Souffle.

Senki Japanese Buffet Restaurant Singapore

Senki Japanese Buffet

I have been wanting to try Japanese Buffet for very long. After doing my research, most people seemed to agree that Ikoi Japanese Restaurant at Hotel Miramar, Irodori Japanese restaurant at River View Hotel and Senki Japanese Restaurant at Killiney road are amongst the best Japanese Buffets in Singapore.

As my friends have been to Ikoi and Irodori Japanese restaurant before, we ended up at Senki Japanese Restaurant for the buffet dinner.

Strictly Pancakes Singapore Best Pancakes

Strictly Pancakes Singapore

Some of my friends have been commenting that Strictly Pancakes at Prinsep Street is probably one of the best pancake restaurant/cafe in Singapore. As usual, I waited a while before visiting because I wanted them to sort out the teething problems first.

The concept of All Day Dining restaurant serving only pancakes is not new, I have been to Pancakes on the Rock in Sydney which has a similar idea. But Strictly Pancakes is certainly the first of its kind in Singapore, and their menu has both savoury and sweet pancakes.

Ma Maison Restaurant Bugis Junction Singapore

Ma Maison Singapore

Bugis Junction has gone through a revamp and some of the newer (okay, maybe not that new) restaurants at Bugis Junction include: Let’s Sweet Japanese Desserts Buffet, Nanxiang Xiaolong Bao, and Nando’s. The funny thing is, I have never eaten at any of the Bugis Junction restaurants before.

Even though I always pass by the restaurants in Bugis Junction, they somehow didn’t appeal to me, and one of them is Ma Maison Restaurant. The dark entrance of the place was probably the main reason, and it took me until now to try the food there.

Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge

Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge Singapore

// Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge is now closed

After having lunch at Paradise Dynasty, we wandered around Orchard in search for an afternoon tea place. I don’t fancy the new Marmalade Pantry at Ion Orchard, the space is too open and you can’t even hold a private conversation there. In any case, it was full (on a weekday afternoon), and so was TWG Tea Salon which had a queue outside.

We ended up at Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge at Takashimaya – and yes, the place was also packed. Don’t people need to work on weekdays?

Chinese New Year is one of my favourite holidays. It is the time to eat bak kwa, pineapple tarts, abalone and all the Chinese Delicacies. Although we are about more than 2 weeks away from Chinese New Year, many of the Chinese restaurants in Singapore are already fully booked for Chinese New Year’s Eve Reunion Dinner. For those of you guys who are currently planning for the CNY Dinner, please make your reservations as soon as possible.
