Popular cake shop, Cake Spade has just announced that it will be closing in a few months’ time. This news came as a surprise as it only opened its 2-Storey Flagship Cafe at Ann Siang Hill/Chinatown in April earlier this year.

Alice Boulangerie is one cafe-cum-bakery that really left a deep impression on us. In recent times when everyone is trying to outdo one another with trends and patterns, Alice Boulangerie chose to stay classy with honest bakes – ironically, this is what we are lacking in the current climate when everyone is so caught up with fanciful and Instagrammable-everything.
Conveniently located in the Tanjong Pagar, Alice Boulangerie is a space which we would consider to be relatively Nordic and minimalistic, with simple wooden and rattan furniture and classy pendant lamps. No frills about its decor, but most definitely cosy enough for some quiet me-time, a simple lunch meeting, a date and a wonderful spot to simply lay back and relax.
With an impressive culinary and baking team, you are set for great food and bakes. We tried quite a few items and nothing actually disappointed us; how impressive! It is most definitely a spot we would return to again and again – whether it is for their hearty mains or stellar bakes.
Opened by the team behind The Brewing Ground in Joo Chiat, RIANG is a new casual dining concept along Jalan Riang, in the Serangoon neighbourhood which doles out brunch, larger mains, coffee and cocktails. It officially opens to the public today (2 Nov 2022).
RIANG is taking over the space by the former Babba (which is also by The Brewing Ground). This came as as a surprise as the now-defunct Peranankan cafe & restaurant only opened in late Feb this year, and it seems too soon to forgot a new concept like that.
Well, maybe the Peranankan concept didn’t work out and the owners have more exciting plans for RIANG.
Yang Ming Seafood is a popular zi char eatery which offers an amazing menu, specializing premium live seafood at very reasonable prices. Tucked away in an unassuming Bishan neighbournood, this fuss-free, nondescript place is bustling with life with diners.
It is not difficult to understand why it is so popular. With a huge selection of premium live seafood including Australian & Boston lobsters, Sri Lankan crabs, bamboo clams, geoduck, Canadian clams, turbot and other fishes, being “spoilt for choice” is an understatement. It is impressive to see a local Zi Char eatery stocking such a huge variety of premium seafood, to say the least.
Yang Ming Seafood may not be a prestigious Chinese restaurant, but we dare say the food quality is good and definitely one that has earned our loyalty. We will go out on a limb to say that Yang Ming Seafood is one of the best Zi Char restaurants in Singapore.
Bangkok’s Chatuchak Night Market will be returning to Singapore in 2023! Great news for fans of the famous weekend market in Bangkok.
