10 Things We Love About Outback Steakhouse at orchardgateway

Outback Steakhouse

Outback Steakhouse, the largest steakhouse chain in the world, is a household name and its flagship store at Millenia Walk has been in Singapore since 2000. Known to serve reasonably-priced steaks and mains in a casual ambience with friendly service, Outback Steakhouse never goes out of fashion, and we really love its menu; it is much more comprehensive than we thought, and even if you are not a fan of steaks, you will be spoilt for choice with its array of mains. 9 Things That We Love about M&C.Duck Hong Kong

M&C Duck Hong Kong

Every time we visit Hong Kong, the sheer number of new restaurants and cafes that have opened since our previous trip amazes us. There is always somewhere new to check out, and quite frankly, it is impossible to tick all of them off our checklist. We always end up weighing our options with various factors – price point, location and type of cuisine.

On a recent trip, we went on a food tour with Maxim’s Group (you can read our pick on the best restaurants here), and one of the places that really impressed us was M&C.Duck at Harbourcity shopping mall. It is one of the newest dining concepts by Maxim’s Group – one of the largest F&B groups, with 70 brands and 840 outlets in Hong Kong, Vietnam and China – which opened in December 2013 – and it is one that has fast rocketed to our list of favourite restaurants in Hong Kong.

M&C Duck

Offering a modern twist to traditional Peking and Shanghainese cuisine, M&C.Duck is not quite what you would expect of a typical Hong Kong restaurant. The familiarity of a Chinese outlet is comforting yet reveals hints of sexiness; the list of dishes is what tugs your heartstrings yet surprises with the unexpected.

Well, we would go there especially for the very good Peking duck, but there is much more to love, and we say them with a passion. Here are 9 reasons to fall in love with M&C.Duck, and the next time you find yourself in Hong Kong, you know where to go to feed your souls.

5 SuperMuffins from Pacific Marketplace to Love

SuperMuffins

We usually prefer cupcakes to muffins because they are a lot more moist and photogenic. Besides, who can resist a cupcake that is dressed up in a rich and decadent dressing? However, our hearts strayed after trying the new SuperMuffins from Pacific Marketplace at Pan Pacific Singapore.

The SuperMuffins are a range of five savoury muffins that come in the most extraordinary flavours; nothing you’d usually associate with muffins, and every bit surprising! Among the five, our favourites are Ms Piggy (S$7), which is a unique cross between a muffin and char siew bao made up of sweet and juicy barbecue pork and piquant salted egg yolk; and The Hulk (S$5) – a combination of mushroom, cheese, and cream in a savoury spinach crust.

Krrish (S$5), Chicken Run (S$7) and Minotaur (S$7) complete the SuperMuffin lineup. Vegetarians will love Krrish for its potato filling power-packed with Indian spices. But for meat lovers, we recommend Chicken Run – succulent chicken cooked in Shao Xing rice wine and garlic chives – or Minotaur, flavourful French style braised oxtail encased within a gruyere-infused crust.

Pacific Marketplace Supermuffins

We never thought a muffin would fill our tummies, but these sure do and in fact, this new meal-in-a-muffin is a unique and satisfying lunch concept. Should you ever find yourself craving muffins while in the Marina Bay precinct, drop by Pacific Marketplace and get your hands on these savoury goodies. As muffins go, this is as good as it gets.

From now till 14 August 2014, stand a chance to enjoy a complimentary SuperMuffin when you take part in the #SuperMuffin challenge. Take a selfie with your SuperMuffin, post it on Facebook and tag #SuperMuffin and @Pacific Marketplace. If your picture gets 20 likes by the time you leave, you will get the muffin on the house!

5 Ways A Solo Trip Will Change Your Life Forever

How solo travel will change you

For me, travelling has always been all about the experiences. I may be visiting the same places and sampling the same food as my friends, but because we view the world through different lenses, what’s significant to me may not have as profound an impact on someone else.

Of course, traveling in a group has its perks, but it’s a completely different ballgame when you’re on your own. Loneliness is a feeling we all abhor. No one wants to be isolated and all alone, especially while overseas, when you don’t know a single soul.

But get this: a solo trip doesn’t necessarily mean a lonely trip – that’s a misconception we’ve got to tear down. You may be traveling by yourself, but there will be a whole bunch of fellow globetrotters and locals you can hang out with if you just put yourself out there and be open to whoever comes across your path. Don’t worry about people perceiving you as a ‘loner’ just because you’re dining by yourself. I admit, it can be pretty daunting at first. But you’re in an exciting new country – just shake it off, let loose and enjoy yourself.

If that isn’t convincing enough, here are 5 reasons how a solo trip can change your life.
