If you have been reading my food blog for a while, you would know that I love cakes and I am always on the lookout for dessert places in Singapore. With so many new patisseries, cake and pastry shops opening this year, I think dessert lovers are living in exciting times.

Bonheur Patisserie at Duxton road, is a fairly new confectionery in Singapore which specialises in customised wedding cakes. They also have a dine-in cafe where you can order a slice of cake for a nice afternoon high tea.

Clementi has lots of good food. Besides the newly opened Clementi Mall, there is also the popular Clementi Food Centre and various coffee shops.

I recently had Tze Char at Ban Tong Seafood restaurant at Clementi ave 5, which is a few minutes walk from the train station. The food is generally good, and prices are what you’d expect from a typical tze char place.

I am always good at finding the best places to eat, but when it comes to drinks, I am lucky to have a group of friends who are familiar with the Best Bars in Singapore. To most people, alcohol is very important, but I always prefer eating to drinking.

Together with Cafe Fables and A Thousand Tales (vintage furniture store), Bar Stories is a funky bar nestled within a shop house in Haji Lane. Apparently Cafe Fables operates in the day, and it transforms into Bar Stories when nightfall arrives.

Located at Robertson Quay, Brasserie WOLF is a casual French bistro under the management of the Esmirada Group of Restaurants. With the appointment of new Head Chef Claudio Sandri, Brasserie Wolf had recently launched a new ala carte menu.

It consists of classic French dishes like the Beef Bourguignon, and Traditional Bouillabaisse Soup. Prices range from $15-$26 for appetisers/soup, $26-$48 for main courses and $10-$15 for desserts.

When it comes to cheap and good food in West of Singapore, the first place that comes to mind is definitely Bukit Timah Food Market & Hawker Centre. It is one of my usual hang-out places for local food as it’s only ten minutes away from my home.

It can be quite a daunting task when you are ordering food in hawker centres. Which stalls do we order from? Shall we flip a coin, judge by the number of newspaper cuttings, or simply look at the queue of each stall?
