ladyironchef on Harper’s Bazaar Singapore

Singapore Food Blog

I did a short interview with Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, and it is published in the August issue. With the opening of the Marina Bay Sands Celebrity Chefs restaurants, we are living in exciting times to witness the evolution of the local Singapore food scene.

Other than that, I also discussed about how Singapore Food Blogs have changed and redefined the way people see food. Do pick up a copy of Harper’s Bazaar, they have some interesting articles on fine dining and food in Singapore.

Something interesting happened on twitter (again) today: “I always thought @ladyironchef was um well, a lady!” Sorry to burst your bubbles, ladyironchef is a guy – my name is Brad. HELLO!

Lorong Mambong, or more commonly known as Holland Village is a very popular foodie paradise in the West of Singapore. There’s a very good mixed of restaurants at Holland Village; Italian, Mediterranean cuisine, Chinese food, Mexican, Japanese, Vietnamese – you name it, they have it!

After coming up with the guide to Dempsey road Restaurants, I have been thinking about where to feature next. I got my answer when a friend asked me with a simple question: ‘Where to eat in Holland Village?’

Singapore Food Festival 2010

Singapore Food Festival 2010

The Singapore Food Festival is an annual event that’s organized to promote Singapore Best Food to the world. I remember the theme last year was ‘celebrating our unique food heritage the Peranakan way’.

When I received the email press release for Singapore Food Festival 2010, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the SFF is focusing on specialty dishes from the various Chinese dialect groups – the Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka, Hainanese, etc.

Are you ready to pig-out at the Singapore Food Festival 2010?

Yogurt Places in Singapore

Yogurt Places in Singapore

If you are among those who never understand the appeal of forking out a couple of dollars for a cup of frozen yogurt (FroYo or Frogurt) — hey we belong to the same kind, I totally understand how you feel — I was once the same, until recently.

I know that there are people who have been puzzled by my recent tweets about living a healthier lifestyle, and eating yogurt daily. Addiction is an understatement when I have been testing out all the Meiji yogurt, F & N Alive yogurt and Marigold Yogurt. If you must know the reason, everything started with this question two weeks ago:

“Why don’t you eat Yogurt? It helps in digestion and it’s good for your skin complexion too!”

I am not sure how true this claim is, but I decided there’s no harm giving it a shot. In recent months, we have seen many new Yogurt places in Singapore, and this can only be good news for all the Fro-Yo fans.

So here’s the good news: I finally got a BlackBerry. And here’s the not-so-good news, I will be only using it for a couple of months, and I think I’m already falling for it.

I have a thing for qwerty keypads, more so than touchscreens, so when SingTel offered to loan me a BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone handset for a couple of months, I said YES with a big exclamation mark!

Restaurants for Father’s Day Celebration Idea

Sweet Sour Pork

Sweet & Sour Pork from Pu Tien Restaurant

Last Sunday, there was some confusion on twitter as some friends had mistaken it as Father’s day. Just in case you are also confused, Father’s day is the 3rd Sunday of June. During Mother’s Day every year, there will always be a big fanfare with flowers and big feasts, on the other hand – everything seems to be relatively quiet on Father’s day.

Sometimes we tend to neglect our fathers for what they have done for us, and I have to admit I am one of the guilty few. My dad probably knows what is my favorite food, while I don’t have much of a clue what he really likes.

But I do know that he prefers Chinese food, and so to celebrate Father’s Day dinner this year, we are going to have a big feast at a Chinese seafood restaurant!

Here’s some suggestions of restaurants for Father’s Day celebration:
