Max Brenner: Chocolate Souffle or Molten Chocolate Cake?

Max Brenner Chocolate Souffle

This is the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar’s Chocolate Souffle. You may also want to call it a Molten Chocolate Cake. The beautiful thing that you see in the picture, is also known as My dessert addiction, or the prize for winning a bet. I blamed someone for introducing me to it.

Addiction is an understatement when you can even dream of them. The chocolate souffle may seems like an ordinary chocolate dessert, but it is much much more than that. Put it in front a bunch of rowdy kids and you will have silence immediately. Magic.

Try it out by placing the molten chocolate cake in front of a group of adults, and they will be admiring it like kids in Disney land. But do make sure that there’s enough for everyone, otherwise you will be looking at the ugly side of human beings instantly.

Ever since the last visit to Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, I am not ashamed to say that I have been thinking about it regularly. Day and night. Night and day.

“Shall we go to Max Brenner again?”

When someone popped the question casually (again), I knew that this was my only chance. Otherwise, who knows how long I have to wait to have the chocolate souffle?

I’m not going to try and describe the chocolate souffle/molten chocolate cake, because there’s hardly any vocabulary that will do it justice. With regards to the question in the title: so is this a chocolate souffle or is it a molten chocolate cake? I’m sorry, but I’m not a baker so I can’t really differentiate between the two. But, is there really a need to know what it is?

All you need to know is: the chocolate souffle/molten chocolate cake/whatever you want to call – it tastes bloody good. That’s all. Who cares if it’s a chocolate souffle or a warm chocolate cake? I don’t. Coming back to the Chocolate Souffle, it’s such a shame that the serving was so tiny. After finishing the dessert within a minute or two, we sighed, and moaned and wished that there’s more.

I loved it so much I didn’t wanna share it with my friend~! Btw, great blog :) Have you tried their cocoa drinks? I know it’s an overkill with desserts, but their spicy cocoa (can’t recall the actual name in the menu) is yummehh! :D

Just a couple of days ago, I typed ” Best Soufflé in Singapore” and google came up with this post, so I headed down to Vivo tonight to try the Soufflé out for myself, and I’m extremely disappointed.

The Soufflé was just heavy, dense and it just tasted like a poorly done Soufflé with dark chocolate covering the burnt top and bottom.

Maybe I’m just traditional, or as a baker myself, I know what a good Soufflé should taste like – airy, light and at the very least it should come in a ramekin or something similar.

I mean, $16++ isn’t exactly little to pay, and I would have expected something good you know? To be honest, I think the Molten Chocolate Cake that Starbucks serves at $5 odd is worth more than this, price wise and taste wise.

I tried the Hazelnut Crêpe too, and it was just.. ordinary. Wish I could say that food was good or even something good about that place, but well, I think you’ve made it sound way overrated.

Try the chocolate pizza! That used to be the culprit of my weight gain when I was back in NYC.
