Chicken wings from No. 5 Emerald Hill Singapore

Best Prawn Paste Chicken

“Shall we go and have the best Har Cheong Gai in Singapore?”

When I saw this conversation between my friends on twitter, I knew that I must try the best chicken wings in Singapore that they were talking about. We even created a blackberry group nicknamed: har cheong gai to discuss and plan for our assault at No. 5 Emerald Hill Cocktail Bar for their famous chicken wings which are marinated with shrimp paste.

Ramen Santouka: Best Ramen in Singapore

Ramen Santouka

I don’t care if you are going to throw tomatoes or rotten eggs at me, but I am going to declare Ramen Santouka at Central as the best ramen restaurant in Singapore.

We’re raised to believe that there is always something better out there. What if there isn’t? What if this is the best ramen place in Singapore, but I keep insisting on finding a better one elsewhere? Does it mean I have to try a few lousy ramen restaurants before I come back to Ramen Santouka and believe that they have the best ramen in Singapore?

Tian Tian Lai (Come Daily) Hokkien Mee

Hokkien Mee

When I was planning for a one-day hawker food trail with my friend, she said that we have to try the famous Toa Payoh Hokkien Mee at Lorong 1 food center (near Braddell Mrt station). You know you want the molten chocolate lava cake!”

The question is obviously: which Japanese restaurant has the best tonkatsu in Singapore? I am in a rampage mood for tonkatsu. If there’s one thing that I cannot stand — it is settling for second best. Only the finest, the best tonkatsu will do for me. Having tried Tonkichi, Tetsu and Tampopo Japanese restaurant — I wanted somewhere new. That’s when I thought of Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin at Ion Orchard.

Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice Singapore

Five Star Hainanese Chicken

The grass is always greener on the other side. I think this is very true as my food adventures totally reflect this. Even though I stay just 10 minutes away from Bukit Timah, I tend to go further in search of good food in Singapore. Come to think of it, I have never really explore the stretch of restaurants at Cheong Chin Nam road (directly opposite Beauty World).

As I was walking along there last week, I realized that there’s actually quite a few eateries that open till late night, and they are now officially my prime-targets for supper. The chicken rice craving gave us the choice between Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice and Boon Tong Kee since both of them are arguably famous chicken rice in Singapore.
