Good news for fans of Häagen-Dazs‘s ice cream and fondue, the popular ice cream brand is opening its 6th outlet at Waterway Point.

Häagen-Dazs prides itself on only sourcing the best ingredients from around the world to concoct their various ice cream varieties.

Häagen-Dazs’s newest store is located at Waterway Point #01-72/73, near the Village Square.

It has closed two outlets in Singapore this year—its iconic location at Holland Village which has been around since the 1990s, as well as the outlet at ION Orchard.

There are currently six Häagen-Dazs outlets in Singapore at Westgate, Hilton Walkway, Plaza Singapura, Funan, SOTA and Waterway Point.

Along with fresh fruit and pastries that serve to provide vibrancy and texture—all neatly arranged around a pot of warm Belgain chocolate sauce—Häagen-Dazs Fondue is ideal for sharing among a family and is also a great way to try out all their flavours.

Squeezed! started off as a kiosk serving cold pressed juices at both Leisure Park Kallang and Suntec City. Their spanking new outlet at Waterway Point in Punggol kickstarted the launch of the signature stuffed brioche buns that range from sweet to savoury creations.

Besides the 6 signature buns flashed on the overhead menu, you can also grab a ‘Naked’ (S$4.30) and original Squeezed! bun filled with froyo only.

This unique concept has been making waves on social media lately and we just had to have a go.

The kiosk is located on the basement level of the East wing, right at the entrance that is hard to miss. The savoury selections of the signature buns includes Tori Tori (S$5.80) and Royal Rumble (S$5.80). The former is a bun stuffed with teriyaki chicken, mayonnaise and bonito flakes and it is a great as a light meal option.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

But we went for the latter – one that is stuffed with Truffle Macaroni and Melted Nacho Cheese.

To be honest, we hardly tasted any truffle inside it (and we mean not even a hint), and the mac and cheese just did not weave in with the bun as well as we would have liked it to be. They were good separately when eaten piping hot but sadly, they felt like two separate entities that should never have been put together. We heard good remarks on the Tori Tori, so we might give that savoury option a shot on our next visit.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

There are 4 sweet signature bun options and they are Life’s A Peach, Bed & Breakfast, Smores & More and Elvis’ Reese – all at S$5.80 each. They all came with different fruity or sweet toppings, ranging from peaches to Reese’s bits.

We eventually settled for a ‘Naked’ bun instead as we were curious on just how good the bun would be with only froyo and nothing else.

It took us quite a few bites to actually begin enjoying the bun. The froyo and the brioche blended together slightly better than its savoury counterparts, and it actually makes for a good option on a humid day.

While we were not swept off our feet with the actual stuffed brioches here, it is admittedly a pretty cool concept that just needs a bit more tweaking and pimping to be really great and successful.

It is official – residents of Punggol and Sengkang have a town of their own. Everything is there now with the opening of Waterway Point.

Many of us have been anticipating the opening of Waterway Point at Punggol; that huge mall in the heart of one of Singapore’s recent most popular neighbourhood is totally what all residents need and are excited about.

The mall will officially open by the second quarter of 2016, but as of now, approximately 75% of shops are already open.

The mall is split into two wings – East and West – with an open-air communal connecting area. The building overlooks the stunning Punggol Waterway where many use for cycling, jogging and casual strolls. Situated directly beside Punggol MRT station, Waterway Point is extremely convenient for anyone who’s taking the public transport.

SLEEK & MODERN INTERIOR

The first thing we noticed about the massive 542,493 square feet structure was the interior. The ceilings had sleek metallic and reflective surfaces that made the place glow.

The mall is split into two wings – the East Wing and the West Wing. There are no specific classifications for these two wings and you can expect a good mixture of food, shopping and various retail stores everywhere in Waterway Point.

BREATHTAKING VIEW OF THE WATERWAY

Walk out of Waterway Point, all the way towards the back of the building (if you are coming in from the MRT entrance) and you will be greeted with fresh air and this incredible view.

Lovely spot to kick back and relax because the atmosphere is so comforting. You can even take a stroll around the area as an after-meal walk-off with your dining partner.

The mall is a mixture of open-air and enclosed areas, and we actually like this concept a lot more. You get your comfortable air-conditioned spaces, while being out in the open also means that you get amazing fresh air.

CRAZY SHOPPING AT THE WATERWAY POINT

Giant brands such as H&M will be opening soon here at Waterway Point, but for now, there are already several brands that are open for business. Think Factorie, Cotton On, Lovisa and even Japanese chain, Daiso. This Daiso outlet is massive and probably one of the biggest here in Singapore.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

You can also expect hair salons, nail parlours and so much more. The mall is pretty much “self-contained”.

WATERWAY POINT RESTAURANTS AND EATERIES

Now, here comes the really good part, and the one that gets us excited. Yes, the food!

While not all of the restaurants are open for business yet, some big names have already started operating. They are So Pho, Osaka Osho, Bali Thai, Miam Miam, Social Square and more.

Outlets such as Coffee Bean and Joe & Dough are slated to open pretty soon, but until then, you can still choose from a variety of other F&B outlets.

REFRESHING COCONUT WATER

Our eyes were immediately drawn to a new stall called CocoCane and we did a double-take when we first read the name in our heads. Alas (and thankfully), the kiosk actually serves 100% pure coconut water and 100% pure sugarcane juice.

Coconut water is such a favourite, and so is the classic sugarcane juice. This is practically the simplest business concept, but one that is also evergreen!

We had the Coconut Water (S$3.50) and added a dollop of Nata de Coco (S$0.70). Prices are indeed slightly steep but nevertheless, coconut water is nothing short of refreshing – just what we needed on a hot, sunny afternoon.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

And, we reckon this is a healthier alternative to bubble tea anyway.

DANGEROUSLY ADDICTIVE BURGERS

We stumbled upon a home-grown brand called Burger Up. The burgers were so good that we had them two days in a row!

Also, S$10 or less for a full meal of elevated gourmet fast food-style burgers is pretty much a steal.

We had a Surf & Turf Burger Meal with Fries, a drink, added a fried egg and some sambal sauce for S$11. You bet the burger was huge; definitely enough to fill you up happily.

If you live in the vicinity, Waterway Point is sure to be your next hang out. We also cannot wait to try more food here once everything opens officially!

If you are wondering whether it is worth the long journey to Punggol for the food there, this guide will be your answer. Punggol has two major food areas – @Punggol and The Punggol Settlement.

People flock to @Punggol for the wholesome food at popular cafe Whisk & Paddle, or to have a pint of beer at Frienzie. The Punggol Settlement is always packed during dinner hours, where car park lots will steadily fill up by 7pm. Even though the location is not ideal, the food here is definitely worth travelling for.

This is your definitive guide to all the good food you can find in the Punggol neighbourhood.

#1 AH DONG TEH HOUSE

Ah Dong Teh House is essentially a Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng-style restaurant with Singapore flavours. If you are not looking to splurge on a meal, head on down here for generous portions of Luncheon Meat Noodle or a huge piece of Fried Chicken for less than S$10.

#2 BACON & BOOZE

With a restaurant name as straightforward as Bacon & Booze, you must have high expectations of the bacon dishes and range of liquor here. Fortunately, the restaurant does exactly what it’s supposed to do – offer a good range of beers and delicious bacon-centric dishes.
