Housed within a colonial building—inspired by the Kyo Machiya, traditional wooden townhouses in Kyoto—along Scotts Road, Ami Patisserie is a Japanese-French patisserie by Chef Makoto Arami which specialises in European-style pastries and desserts made with premium Japaneese produce.

It started out as an online business during Covid and this is the brand’s first physical concept.

Chef Makoto Arami, a third-generation descendant in a family business dating back to 1935, grew up deeply involved in the tradition of making desserts. His grandfather was an expert in wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets, while his father expanded the business to include yogashi, which are Western-style desserts made with Japanese ingredients and delivered with a high level of creativity.

Chef Makoto went on to train at Tsuji Culinary Institute in Tokyo, and he has also worked at various establishments including Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City, Beige Alain Ducasse in Ginza, Beni in Singapore as well as Pastry Sous Chef at Marina Bay Sands.

Prices start from S$11++ for a choux pastry (flavours include Tahitian Vanilla, Uji Matcha Kinako and Smoked Caramel Coffee) while the desserts such as Mont Blanc and Fruit Tarts are between S$16 to S$20. Be prepared to fork out S$35 for the parfait which comes with seasonal Japanese fruits.

There is also the option of a six-course Chef’s Table Discovery Experience (S$118/pax) in the private Tsudoi Dining Room.

Helmed by Chef Mohamed Al-Matin who has previously worked at Noma, Restaurant Andre, Black Star Pastry, Zumbo, Le Matin Patisserie first started as an online pastry shop during Circuit Breaker, and it has also opened a physical shop at Raeburn Park.

We love their classic pastries such as Kouign Amann, Pain Au Chocolat and Brioche Feuilette.

Laminated with lots of butter, the Brioche Feuilette—a croissant-brioche hybrid—was truly outstanding with an extremely buttery and crispy pastry. The signature Kouign Amann was equally buttery, flaky and had subtle hints of vanilla.

Chocolate lovers will love the Pain Au Chocolat which was stuffed with Valrhona dark chocolate and came with a molten chocolatey center.

At Le Matin Patisserie’s new cafe, you can look forward to the full range of sweet and savoury pastries including croissants, Kouign Amann, tarts, eclairs, soft serve as well as speciality coffee.

And on top of that, Chef Matin will be introducing a new set of Breakfast Cakes—individually sized Petit Gateaux that resemble your favourite Breakfast dishes.

Fans of Le Matin Patisserie will be happy to know that they are also having a pop-up cafe at Paragon Orchard. They have taken over the cafe in Porcelain Origins and they are serving their classic pastries, bottled cold brews, seasonal kombuchas and pour-over coffee.

Helmed by Chef Mohamed Al-Matin who has previously worked at Noma, Restaurant Andre, Black Star Pastry, Zumbo, Le Matin Patisserie first started as an online pastry shop during Circuit Breaker last year, and it has since opened a physical shop at Raeburn Park earlier this year.

Other than the Le Matin Basics which featured 5 pastries, we also tried the Savoury Box: Assemblag that came with 4 savoury pastries including the new Lamb & Red Wine Pie and Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll.

Each pastry box from Le Matin Patisserie comes with 4 or 6 pastries and each drop can vary in accordance to the technique and seasonal supplies.

Le Matin Basics (S$34)

Kouign Amann

Pain Au Chocolat

Lacto-fermented Plum Galette

Brioche Feuilette

Bread and Butter Pudding

Out of the five pastries from Le Matin Basics box, we loved the Kouign Amann, Pain Au Chocolat and Brioche Feuilette.

Savoury Box: Assemblage (S$58)

Lamb & Red Wine Pie

Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll

Escargot Escargot

Beef Tongue and Cheese Croissant Panini

The Savoury Box that comes with 4 savoury pastries including the new Lamb & Red Wine Pie and Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll. The savoury pastry that stood out the most was the Beef Tongue and Cheese Croissant Panini. The croissant was layered with Beef Tongue and Wagyu Bresaola, a mix of 4 different cheeses, as well as pickled rose petals, butternut and horseradish.

How about escargot in a pastry? Le Matin Patisserie shaped the traditional croissant like a snail and filled it with escargots from France. This was the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

You can also add on cold brews to your pastry boxes and they include Black Coffee (S$5), White Coffee (S$5), Oat Milk Coffee (S$7) and Chocolate (S$7).

Pâtisserie CLÉ is opening a second outlet at Lucky Heights neighbourhood near Siglap and Bedok.

First established as an online pâtisserie in 2018 by local pastry chefs Germaine Li and Joy Chiam, Pâtisserie CLÉ (clé is French for ‘key’) specialises in French cakes, tarts, and bakes.

The local brand opened its first physical space in Paya Lebar Office and the second outlet will be located in Lucky Heights neighbourhood where fans can get a range of tarts and
entremets as well as a new selection of viennoiseries.

The star highlights are unique creations that pay homage to the Lucky Heights neighbourhood and they include The Lucky Clover—a twist on puff pastry swirls with generous sprinkles of fragrant spring onion, garlic and bacon—and the Truffle Ziggy, a savoury bite filled with truffle cream, wild mushrooms, arugula, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese, which is inspired by the iconic zig-zag stairway in the Lucky Heights neighbourhood.

Pâtisserie CLÉ is perhaps best known for its Tart Gift Box with a choice of eight tarts and you have to try the signature Orh Blanc Tart which is an interesting fusion of the French Mont Blanc dessert and the local orh nee flavour.

Do note that Pâtisserie CLÉ Paya Lebar will be closed momentarily for renovations. It will be re-opened in April with a refreshed look.

Established in 2014, Pantler started its original store at Telok Ayer and it is one awesome patisserie that will chase all your Monday Blues away with their gourmet creations. It has recently moved to a bigger space at 474 River Valley Road on 20 Feb 2021.

From choux puffs to glazed cakes and croissants, Pantler has them all.

Dessert is serious business here; both founders have previously worked in the pastry-making departments of Joël Robuchon Singapore and the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. What you can expect at Pantler is a selection of classic sweet treats, savoury patisseries and contemporary desserts.

Yatsura (S$8.50++) is one of Pantler’s bestselling signature cakes for obvious reasons. The dacquoise cake boasts luscious layers of hazelnut cream, dark chocolate mousse and crunchy hazelnut feuilletine.

Nestled amongst private housing estates in the Lorong Ah Soo neighbourhood, Purist Patisserie is a beautiful boutique patisserie tucked away on the end of shop houses of The Promenade @ Kilat. Primarily opened for custom cake orders and collections, this boutique patisserie is on a journey to make exquisite pastries fun and delightful for everyone.

With an assortment of exquisite cakes and French bakes, you can expect to indulge in creative desserts that are put together with quality ingredients and a whole lot of heart.

Decked in pastel pink and featuring rose gold and marble elements, Purist Patisserie exudes a serene ambience which makes an ideal spot to unwind over a good book or an afternoon tea with friends in Kovan. Only open for walk-ins from Friday to Sunday, Purist Patisserie is the next place you should pop by this weekend.

The boutique patisserie’s delicate Fleur (S$8) is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and definitely made for the ‘gram. Expect a luxurious raspberry mousse sandwiched between a crispy thin waffle biscuit and a layer of delicate white chocolate, and topped with freeze-dried berries, popping lychee bobas and blue cornflower.

Much like your mango sticky rice, the Cebu Surprise (S$8) features similar components but with a slightly different flavour profile. Made with coconut and Jasmine rice mousse, the cake is filled slightly with mango gelatin and it sits above a base made of puffed rice and crushed cookies that is laced with white chocolate.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The aromatic mousse went really well with the mango filling but it was the crunchy texture from the base that brought the entire dessert together and made it simply addictive.

Apart from what we have tried, Purist Patisserie also offers a selection of single cakes and French bakes such as madeleines, financiers and chouquettes.

Purist Patisserie offers interesting and unique cakes which are worth a try. We would highly recommend this new patisserie for some sweet fix over the weekends and away from the bustling crowd.

Singapore is home to many dessert monsters and this craze for desserts has led to a spike in dessert places in Singapore over the last decade. Ranging from the ever popular chocolate waffles to the trending Korean Bingsu, Somerset is one area in Orchard Road, Singapore that boasts a whole slew of dessert options.

Just in that area alone, we managed to suss out dessert places housed in both proper dessert cafes and/or served in food kiosks. No matter what kind of sweet indulgence or experience you are looking for, you should find it in this guide.

Here is A Sweet Tooth’s Guide To 24 Dessert Places In Somerset.

Having their Bingsu was akin to eating snowflakes with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that all of us approved. Their Patbingsu (S$12.80) did the phrase “less is more” justice. We were in awe of how a classic Bingsu that was served in just sweet azuki beans atop milk ice shavings could rock our worlds with its heavenly medley of textures and flavours.

The sheer number of artisanal bakeries in Singapore has left us all cake lovers spoilt for choice – and we are certainly not complaining. Pantler is one awesome bakery in the CBD that will chase all your Monday Blues away with their gourmet creations.

Cake is serious business here; both founders have previously worked in the pastry-making departments of Joël Robuchon Singapore and the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. What you can expect at Pantler is a selection of classic sweet treats, savoury patisseries and contemporary desserts.

The bakery is fairly new in Singapore, but they have already impressed the crowd with the intricacy and dedication in every cake.

A satisfying lemon tart is hard to come by and we are glad that Pantler’s interpretation of the timeless citrus treat – The Citron Blanc (S$8.50++) – has met our expectations.

The Citron Blanc is essentially a shortbread crust encasing smooth tangy lemon curd, topped with fresh fromage blanc white cheese and stained yellow by lemon confit.

Yatsura (S$8.50++) is one of Pantler’s bestselling signature cakes for obvious reasons. The dacquoise cake boasts luscious layers of hazelnut cream, dark chocolate mousse and crunchy hazelnut feuilletine.

We completely understand if you can’t get enough of this glorious slice. Sizes are customisable – all you have to do is ask!

If you are after a light dessert after a filling meal, order the Pantler’s Mango Shortcake (S$7.50+) which consists of moist sponge cake alternated with layers of fresh whipped cream and juicy mango slices. Those with a sweet tooth might find this too mild, though!

Speculoos Cookie Butter, or Cookie Butter in short, has been famed for its nutty and creamy flavour worldwide. This spread is essentially made with baked cookies, before crushing and mixing them with oil until they become a mouth-watering spread – akin to the texture and colour of peanut butter, but even better. We love cookie butter for its addictive taste and would eat it straight from the jar if it was not so fattening.

Speculoos Cookie Butter spread has been leaving its mark across desserts as one of the ultimate ingredient that can never go wrong – macarons, cakes, waffles, ice cream – you name it, they would probably have dominated it all already.

Join the party as we uncover 7 Speculoos Cookie Butter Desserts For The Cookie Butter Fanatics.

If that is not enough to impress, the cupcake is also topped off with a velvety buttercream and a little piece of Lotus cookie for an elevated texture. If you are a big fan of Speculoos Cookie Butter, you have to try this.

Tuxedo Cafe offers an enticing Express Set Lunch Special from 11am – 3pm daily. It includes a bowl of soup or salad, sandwich, and a cup of gourmet coffee or tea. At S$15.80, it is a deal to score for those who are looking for a good lunch without busting your budget.

Being a patisserie, the focus at Tuxedo is its array of freshly baked bread and pastries. Under the lead of Chief Baker Andrew Loong, the award-winning Carlton pastry team is constantly coming up with new creations to wow the crowd with its repertoire.

Other than the classic items like French Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, German Rye Sour Bread, Tuxedo has a whole range of bread such as Baguette, Walnut Bread and Semi-dried Tomatoes & Basil Baguette. The desserts, too, are to die for. Raspberry Chocolate Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Hazelnut Crunchy Eclair, Red Velvet Cupcake – just to name a few. The highlight for us is definitely their signature Lobster Pie, and the rich and luxurious Tuxedo Cake made with Valrhona chocolate.

Tuxedo is really quite an enchantment and it has every reason to visit. You get the best of a patisserie and so much more. A centralised location, a friendly price tag, and a charming environment to retreat to when you need to unwind from all the stress in life.

A good strawberry shortcake is one that has pillowy soft sponge cake with sweet and fresh strawberries, and super delicious whipped cream.

It is an old-fashioned and rustic cake that is perfect as a mid-afternoon tea break, or for a sweet ending after dinner. It is an everyday cake; one that you can always turn to when in need of a pick-me-up. Here is a list of the Best Strawberry Shortcakes in Singapore.

While Antoinette Patisserie’s Strawberry Shortcake may not stand out against the other popular creations like Antoinette earl grey cake, Chloe and Saint Honore L’amour, it is still worth a try if you like a light and fruity cake.

BAKERZIN

After trying so many different strawberry shortcakes, Bakerzin’s rendition ranks among the best. The sponge cake is velvet smoothy, with a good balance of flavour and sweetness.

CIEL PATISSERIE

The Hougang neighbourhood may seem like an unlikely place to find a French patisserie, but that is exactly where Ciel Patisserie is located. This small patisserie has a wholesome range of cakes (S$4.80 – S$5.80), and tarts (S$4.20), but what you must try is its cloud-light fluffy Strawberry Shortcake.

This terrific cake shop at Duxton Hill has a Strawberry Shortcake ($5.5) which is really moist and fluffy. Flor Patisserie’s version is a must-have for any fan of this classic dessert. It is an ideal afternoon cake, perfect with a cup of tea.

House’s strawberry shortcake ($9.5) is the one that most people mention when you ask them where to get a good strawberry shortcake. House’s rendition is sort of a cross between a cake and a muffin – it is dense, firm, and more cakey than the usual Japanese Strawberry Shortcakes.

Antoinette is a Parisian pâtisserie and salon du thé by Chef Pang Kok Keong, who is one of Singapore’s best pastry chefs.

Sugar Daddy Group – which currently includes Antoinette and Pique Nique – is Chef Pang’s first business venture after a career of working for different hotels and Les Amis group’s Canele restaurants.

I was over the moon to hear about Antoinette Patisserie. Needless to say, I was very excited to try all the desserts. My first visit was a media tasting session and we had the chance to try quite a few dishes.

Since then, I’ve been there on numerous occasions as a regular customer, and ordered various items on the menu. My goal was, or still is, to try all the cakes by Chef Pang.

Cakes make me happy. I want to eat cakes.

Antoinette currently has three outlets at Penhas Road (near Lavender MRT), Mandarin Gallery and Scarlet Hotel. While the French tea salon at Mandarin Gallery has a great location, it is much smaller than Penhas Road.

I’d definitely recommend going to Penhas Road instead of Mandarin Gallery as the latter does not allow reservations and there is always a queue during peak hours.

If I could only choose one cake, I would definitely go for Antoinette ($9).

Even up till now, I could still remember my first encounter with it. The Chocolate Earl Grey cake caught my attention with its glossy surface; I could almost hear it calling out to me.

I took a fork and tapped it lightly, unsure of how soft or hard it would be. My fork easily went through the milk chocolate mousse infused with earl grey tea cake. The only words to describe it? Luxurious, chic, and heavenly.

I will go so far as to say that my hunt for the best cake in Singapore ended with the Antoinette chocolate earl grey cake. It is rock-my-socks-off good!

If the Antoinette cake was divine, the Saint Honore L’amour ($8.5) – made up of choux pastry, rose petal cream, and strawberry compote on an almond tart – would be the perfect representative of love and romance.

Another interesting option is the Chocolieux ($9.5). When the staff brought it to our table, we thought that we were having ice cream as it was molded into the shape like a magnum. How wrong we were.

It was actually a dessert (I find it difficult to call it a cake) made up of dark chocolate cream, hazelnut nougatine, dark chocolate biscuit and almond chocolate.

On my fourth (or fifth time) there, we tried Strawberry Shortcake ($8) and Café Caramel ($8).

The Café Caramel ($8) – an almond tart composing of caramel a la fleur de sel, genoise cafe, and coffee mousse – was well executed, but nothing special.

To be honest, I was a little unsure about the Strawberry Shortcake as I didn’t have a good impression of the one Chef Pang made at Canele Patisserie. It was actually not too bad. I’d include it in my list of best Strawberry Cakes in Singapore, but it is not my favourite.

I marvelled at the Religiuese of Caramel with fleur de sel ($8) when it arrived at the table. It was so beautiful! I found it to be a little too sweet, so you might want to order this to share.

Among the cakes at Antoinette Patisserie, I also had the Exotique ($8.5) – mousse exotique with coconut cremeux and poached pineapple; Pudding Maple ($6.5) – maple flan with caramel, in a cup; and Strawberry Baba ($8) – baba pastry, citrus rum syrup and vanilla crème Chantilly.

If you prefer savoury food, you must try their Chicken Burger, which is one of the better burgers that I’ve had. Besides desserts, Antoinette also has All Day breakfast ($9 – 20) such as Eggs Florentine, Baked Omelette; French Toast ($10.5), Crepes ($15 – 20) and Pancakes ($10 – 15); entrees ($10.5 – 23) like Salad and Foie Gras Terrine; and main courses ($16.5 – 38) which include options like Bouef Bourguignon and Gnocchi Carbonara.

Antoinette, without a doubt, is my favourite patisserie in Singapore. But then again, I am a big fan of Chef Pang, so I’m definitely biased. Don’t take my word for it, go there and try the cakes for yourself. Service can be very patchy depending on the time you are there, but really, who cares so long we can have good cakes.

The French patisserie is a great place for a quiet afternoon high tea. If I lived near the Lavender area, I could imagine myself dropping by the Parisian tea salon every other day.

Updated on 23 Apr 2014: 1 Caramel is no longer in operations.

1 Caramel Patisserie used to be located at The Luxe at Handy road (besides The Cathay). They have since shifted to Rochester Park, sharing the space with their sister restaurant, 1 Rochester.

With only a few tables in a narrow rectangular space, 1 Caramel dessert boutique at Rochester Park is much smaller than before. But I like the cosy feel of the new outlet; it is a lovely dessert place to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake for a quiet afternoon high tea.

I lurveee to be in a kitchen of a patisserie. It makes me feel as though I’m in Disneyland. We were browsing the cakes on display as the Hazelnut Praline ($6) called out to me. I immediately knew that was the cake that we had to get.

But for the other cakes, we had a hard time trying to decide between tempting choices like the Tea-ramisu ($6), Chocolate Molten Cake ($14) and Earl Grey Creme Brulee ($14). In the end, we had a Lychee Cupcake, Vanilla Souffle and a Strawberry shortcake to go together with the Hazelnut Praline.

I had fond memories of their Lychee Rose cake, so I was hoping that the Lychee Rose Cupcake ($3.5) could replicate some of the magic. Unfortunately, the cupcake was way too dry, and I didn’t enjoy it very much.

Let’s observe five minutes of silence for the fallen souffle…

It was really fun to watch the rise and fall of the Soufflé, but other than that, we were not blown away by the dessert. Don’t get me wrong, though. The Vanilla Souffle ($14) with strawberry ice cream was not bad, but for the price, we were expecting a little more. Expectations are the root of all problems. That said, 1 Caramel has interesting options like hazelnut, passionfruit, and miso souffle.

I really liked 1 Caramel’s Strawberry Shortcake ($6). I liked the flaky pastry around the cake. I liked how it is different from the usual strawberry shortcakes. I liked the combination of fluffy sponge cake and strawberry bits.

This is definitely going into my list of best strawberry shortcakes in Singapore.

Besides cakes and desserts, 1 Caramel Patisserie at Rochester Park also serves all day brunch like Eggs Benedict ($12), Pancakes ($12), Croque Monsieur ($12), and French Toast ($10).

If you have been reading my food blog for a while, you would know that I love cakes and I am always on the lookout for dessert places in Singapore. With so many new patisseries, cake and pastry shops opening this year, I think dessert lovers are living in exciting times.

Bonheur Patisserie at Duxton road, is a fairly new confectionery in Singapore which specialises in customised wedding cakes. They also have a dine-in cafe where you can order a slice of cake for a nice afternoon high tea.

Currently, they have an on-going Weekday High Tea Set (before 5pm): 1 cake and 1 drink for $8.5. Otherwise, you can always drop by after work and enjoy the Weekday after 7pm promotion: buy 3 cakes and get 1 free.

We were quite fascinated by the dome-shaped Tiramisu ($6.5) which you see in the first picture of this post. Both the Tiramisu and the Light Peach Sakura ($6.5) had a biscuit-like crust base, and we had lots of fun digging into the desserts. If you like tarts, go for Bonheur Patisserie’s Chocolate Hazelnut Tart, which was pretty good with its crisp pastry shell and bitter-sweet chocolate filling.

Amongst the cakes that we’ve tried, my favourite was the Strawberry Balsamic ($6.5). The pretty cake was deceptively light, with a nice touch of balsamic strawberry.

On my second visit, we shared four cakes: Mango Cheesecake ($6.5), Carrot Cake ($6.5), Caramel Opera ($6.5) and Chocolate Pound Cake ($6).

I thought that Bonheur Patisserie’s Carrot Cake was exceptionally ordinary, and so was the Chocolate Pound Cake. Thankfully, the Caramel Opera was not too bad, with the fatal (extremely sweet) combination of caramel, chocolate and coffee.

The Mango Cheesecake was the crowd-pleaser. With a smooth mango flavour and crusty base, the cheesecake was delightful and not too overwhelming.

The Tangjong Pagar/Duxton area really is a mini dessert paradise. Besides Bonheur Patisserie, Kki Cafe, Patisserie Glace and Flor Patisserie are also located in the same area. So if you are craving for cakes, I’m sure you know where to go now.

Note: Sweets Garibaldi is no longer in operations.

Let’s be honest, the now-defunct haute Italian confectionery DeSte was a flop. Whilst I admired its concept of extravagant, one-of-a-kind creations; the market just wasn’t ready for it. The price point was too high, and few would splurge so much on fanciful cakes.

Garibaldi Group replaced it with Sweets Garibaldi at Mandarin Gallery, which is in a totally different league from DeSte. With prices starting from $4.50 for a slice to $28 for a whole cake, it is evident that the newly launched dessert boutique is after the mass-market.

Amongst the choices available that day, the Lychee Shortcake and Crunchy Heaven caught our attention. The former was light and delicate, with a subtle hint of lychee flavour. In contrast, the latter – chocolate and hazelnut cream on chocolate sponge spread with crunchy praline – made a strong lasting impression.

Sweets Garibaldi’s cake menu is divided into three categories: chocolate, cheese and fruit. Besides sliced and whole cakes, they also offer customised cake service. Please note that the Mandarin Gallery outlet is only a takeaway stall with no dine in area.

I believe Sweets Garibaldi will give most patisseries, cake shops, confectioneries and dessert places a run for their money. I will definitely go back to try the other creations.

From now till 24th July, Sweets Garibaldi is having a Great Singapore Sale promotion: buy 2 get 1 free slice of cake, and 20% discount for whole cakes.

Note: Kki at Ann Siang Hill is currently closed, and it is currently looking for a new premise.

I first heard of Kki Cafe at Ann Siang Hill from a friend, and then another friend mentioned it too. I was about to visit Kki, but suddenly, all the media and food blogs in Singapore started to write about it. I am not sure about you, but I am not one who will follow the crowd, so I decided to wait for the hype to die down.

Finally, my chance to visit Kki Patisserie came. After having dim sum at Majestic Restaurant, my friends wanted some cakes for desserts, so we dropped by Kki Cafe. Given that there are so many new dessert places in Singapore, is Kki Cafe worth the trip?

It took us a while to decide on the cakes. Even though we’ve read about the popular cakes at Kki Cafe like Antoinette and Little Red Hiding Hood, we were feeling adventurous so we randomly picked three cakes.

Amongst the three cakes that we had, my favourite was the Emily ($9). Just look at the first photo of this post: the cake had a beautiful shade of red, and the subtle champagne mousse was gorgeous.

The Souffle Cheese ($6), on the other hand, was exceptionally ordinary. It was light and moist, but I thought that the flavour was somewhat missing.

We also enjoyed their rendition of the Noisette: Hazelnut Dacquoise layer with Chocolate & Praline Cream. It was a slice of delicious cake!

So all in all, would I go back to Kki Cafe at Ann Siang Hill for cakes? I don’t think so.

Kki Cafe has very pretty Japanese desserts, but there are many lovely cake shops in the area like Flor Patisserie, Bonheur Patisserie, and Patisserie Glace that have equally good cakes at a lower price point.

Having said that, I think Kki cafe is a nice place to enjoy a slice of cake while reading your favourite book. There is also The Little Drom Store, a quirky vintage store selling all sorts of random things.
