Editor’s Note October 2013

Spa Feature

To us, spa treatments are not an indulgence, but a necessity in life – albeit a more extravagant one. We are always on a lookout for the best spas, not just in Singapore but regionally, too. For the month of of October, we will be focusing on Spa and Wellness, letting you in to the better ones we have discovered lately here in Singapore and in Bali. Look out for our beginners’ guide on spa treatments to equip you with the basic knowledge and to prep first-timers with an overview of what to expect and look out for.

From the traditional Balinese massage, to a relaxing Swedish massage therapy, to deep tissue massage and Thai massage, there are different massage therapies to cater to everyone’s different needs. But spa is not just about massages – it encompasses extensive ranges of treatments that focus on and treat the entire body. In addition to massages, there are also facials, body wraps, and scrubs. A good spa treatment can not only help you relax from your hectic lifestyle, it can also rid the body of toxins, and to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul.

We are really enthralled to share with you all that we have experienced from the various spa houses! And if you have any discoveries and/ or enquiries, drop us a mail!

Food Filosophia

Brad and I have been discussing for the longest time for me to pen a column on Ladyironchef but it has always been more of a question of what than when.

Lately as Ladyironchef continue to stretch its imagination and break limits of what it can achieve with this humble rented space, many of you have been asking Brad on instagram or twitter how did he get to do what he’s doing today. It is very glamorous in many ways but it is hard, hard work and an arduous journey. And obviously one we have both not looked back since.

The wisdom in that is also in how just because when you get “to the top”, you will discover there is really nothing but hopefully plenty of life lessons learnt through the art of entrepreneurship. This is why it hit me that the best column we can have on Lady Iron Chef is one that will share (food) entrepreneurial lessons.

[Closed] Necessary Provisions Cafe Singapore

Necessary Provisions Cafe

Opened by the folks behind Smitten Cafe, Necessary Provision is a gem and a wonderful spot for people who stay in the West of Singapore.

When I first heard about Necessary Provisions, I was really excited for a few reasons. First, I know that they will have good coffee as it is by Smitten Cafe. Second, the cafe is very near to my place – I can get there in ten minutes. Third, I have always lamented the fact that we lack a good coffee joint in this part of the island. While we have seen many cafes sprouting up over the past few years, somehow, there is not any cafe that serves good coffee in the west.

Best Eats in Ipoh Malaysia

Ipoh Best Eats

Mention the words “Malaysia” and “Food” in the same sentence, and people usually think of Penang, or perhaps Kuala Lumpur. Well, the next time you are visiting Malaysia and driving from KL to Penang, why not make a stop at Ipoh? This quiet town has, surprisingly, much to offer, especially in terms of food. At practically every turn and junction, you will find quaint coffee shops that are crowded throughout the day. The local dishes offered at these places are quite generic, but having tried several places during my stay, I can vouch for the overall high standard of food at cheap prices throughout Ipoh.

Amongst the numerous dishes we tried, the following is a list of the 5 best eats in Ipoh.
