Located just at the first floor of Bukit Timah Plaza, Rise & Grind Coffee Co. occupies a cosy space with a partial alfresco dining area. Opened about three months ago, Rise & Grind Coffee Co. offers a nice and comfortable dining environment together with delicious food and different blends of coffee to choose from.
All mains at Rise & Grind Coffee Co. are well priced under S$20, and they occasional offer lunch deals at a steal. Expect Asian fusion food here, together with a good range of beverage and dessert options.
We’ve been on a mission to try the best lobster rolls in New York City over the past week, and our latest discovery is Red Hook Lobster Pound. Just to be clear, Red Hook Lobster Pound is not exactly a hidden secret. If any, it is a popular Brooklyn seafood chain with an outlet in Manhattan, as well as a food truck. Cool, yes?
There are the kind of places where you bring your date to for a private celebration, or for a team lunch. Then, there is also the list for more intimate experiences with friends and families. For Chinese New Year 2015, Resorts World Sentosa has two perfect options for everyone.
Want an elegant space with top-grade Chinese cuisine for a night of sheer indulgence? Feng Shui Inn is the kind that fits the bill. Mark this place down and consider it one of the places to feast at.
Apart from Lo-hei of several options, there is an a la carte menu. The Poached Seasonal Greens with Live Lobster and Black Fungus (S$38 for a small portion) is highly recommended. For something even more flavourful, try the Pan-seared Oysters with German Pork Knuckle (S$68 per serving). This dish packs a wicked punch and is good for sharing. And for the prettiest dessert? The Soft Layered Cake with Custard & Golden Flakes (S$48 per whole cake) will set everyone’s hearts aflutter.
There are also set menus of different configurations, and prices start from S$1,188 for 6 persons.
If you prefer somewhere quieter and romantic, Forest is for you. Helmed by Chef Sam Leong and his wife, Forest, this modern outlet offers exquisite Chinese dishes in a refined setting.
Dine with your discerning loved one(s) at Forest with a range of lunch and dinner sets. To begin, every set comes with a fruity salmon yusheng. Something fresh and something different.
But if sets are too much for two, there is also an a la carte menu, from which we really love the Four Treasures Soup (S$32 per person). Braised with fish maw, sea cucumber, conpoy and crabmeat and served in a young coconut, this is one soup that is luxurious and oh-so-sweet. Mains includes Boston Lobster that is wok-fried with green chives and fresh lily bulb (S$58 per person), Canadian Geoduck Clam (S$38 per person) and Marble Goby Fillet that is steamed with yellow bean sauce (S$34 per person). But we’d go for the Kurobuta Pork (S$28 per person) anytime – charcoal-grilled pork that is accompanied with asparagus, this dish is a fine mix of sweet and savoury.
Of course, there are many more dining options over at Resorts World Sentosa. You can find out more from their website, or like them on Facebook and Instagram for more updates. For reservations, call +65 6577 6688 or email [email protected]

We’ve tried many turkeys for Christmas this year, but Plaza Brasserie’s rendition is hands down the best that we’ve had in Singapore. Ever since we sampled Executive Chef Jackson’s and Executive Sous Chef Ken’s tantalising roasts during For The Love of Roasts Buffet - PARKROYAL on Beach Road’s inaugural presentation of a buffet that is centered around tantalising roasts and exotic meats – we have no doubt that the duo can cook their meat really well.
So we were really excited to try their Christmas Buffet because of the various meats that are part of the Christmas lineup. The highlight is without a doubt the aforementioned traditional roast turkey, but equally good is the Hungarian Mangalica Pork – making its debut at Plaza Brasserie this year. Also, you can get two Boston Lobsters (weighing 500g each) at just S$38++ during the festive promotion every day from 12 to 31 Dec 2014.
We share with you the various meats that you cannot miss the world for, and yes, they are available for takeaways too. Oh, have you seen strawberry snowmen too? Too cute to be true, but we are all prey to such Instagram-worthy desserts, isn’t it?
Here are the reasons to celebrate Christmas at Plaza Brasserie, PARKROYAL on Beach Road! Have a very merry Christmas!
We are so lucky to call Singapore home. Our sunny little island may be just a small red dot, but this dot has proven herself to be a foodie’s paradise with cuisines of all kinds, celebrity restaurants, international names, independent restaurants and what-have-you. You will never be caught in the situation of not knowing where to dine at, neither will you need you pull your hair out when thinking of a worthy place to dine for special occasions.
The addition of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) to Singapore’s tourism is definitely a great move, but more than its theme parks and attractions, do you know that they are a gourmet’s playground too? With an impressive list of celebrity chefs’ restaurants and family-friendly restaurants, RWS is one of the most comprehensive dining destinations in Singapore.
Christmas is approaching and the joyous festive spirit is filling the air fast. Everyone we know is making plans for dinners and that well-deserved indulgence, and by now, we have our own lists of go-to places and restaurants. But the more the merrier, right?
We went on a food trail some weeks back to curate today’s post, and we are so stoked to be sharing with you some of the festive highlights that you can find at RWS this Christmas. There is surely something that entices, and we know many families will be happy to find friendly options here that suits every generation!

Our usual go-to Japanese restaurant in the Novena neighbourhood is Tomi Sushi Bar, but when we were in the area last week, we wanted to try a new place for a change.
Located at the ground floor in the same building as Oasis Hotel, Rakuichi Japanese Restaurant has been around for a few years, and while we have noticed its branch in Dempsey Hill before, we never thought of trying it now until now.
Man, we’ve been missing out. Its much-lauded aburi sushi deserves a special mention. The Tokubetsu Set (S$28.60) – includes a salad, an assortment of 6-piece aburi sushi, stir-fried fish head with teriyaki sauce, seafood & vegetable tempura, miso soup, and sesame ice cream – is extremely value-for-money. There are also cheaper lunch sets like saba shioyaki, shake teriyaki and katsu don at S$18.60.
