Chef Will Meyrick, affectionally known as the Street Food Chef, is one of the most well-known chefs in Bali. After successful stints with two of Sydney’s top tables – Longrain and Jimmy Liks – he started his flagship restaurant Sarong in Jalan Petitenget. Besides Sarong, he also runs Mama San and E&O. We had a chat with him to find out more about his restaurants, his take on street food, as well as his opinion on Bali’s dining scene.

Fairprice to donate S$9 for every loaf of Fairprice Bread Sold

FairPrice Foundation has pledged to donate S$9 for every loaf of FairPrice house brand bread sold at all FairPrice and Cheers stores. Through the campaign, FairPrice Foundation targets to donate up to $1.5 million to U Care Fund to help low-income union members and their families. This meaningful initiative will last until 19 August, I hope you guys will show your support and grab a loaf of bread when you go grocery shopping this week.

To celebrate its new menu launch, the good people from the New York Dessert Cafe set up a ‘Mini Cafe’ where friends, couples and young families can have a little fun, share nydc’s joy while snapping photos and stand a chance to win attractive prizes when they participate in nydc’s Instagram Contest. After snapping some photos at the ‘Mini Cafe’, 3 lucky winners joined me at nydc’s Wheelock outlet to sample some of the dishes from its new menu which now offers over 30 dessert items, 20 hot food items, four kids’ meals and 40 beverages. What makes nydc a place to return again and again is surely the variety on its menu. With so many gorgeous desserts and tantalising savoury food to choose from, there is always something for everyone.

Singapore has always been known as a ‘Garden City’, and with the opening of Gardens by The Bay, it further strengthens and positions Singapore as a city in a garden. Some people have compared it to London’s Hyde Park and New York’s Central Park, and while the comparison is flattering, Gardens by The Bay is very much different and has its own character and X-factor.

Spanning 101 hectares, Gardens by The Bay is made up of three waterfront gardens – Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden – and it houses over 250,000 rare plants. Alongside other main attractions like the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands, and the skyscrapers at the Marina Bay area, Gardens by The Bay has become an iconic part of the beautiful Singapore’s skyline. In years to come, I am sure it will become one of Singapore’s prominent national icons.

NamNam Noodle Bar Singapore

NamNam Noodle Bar

NamNam Noodle Bar, a relatively new dining concept by the Les Amis Group, features iconic street favourites of Vietnam. It is not uncommon to see long queues at its two branches at Raffles City and Wheelock during meal times.

The idea of the noodle bar is simple, but very clever. I have always lamented that Singapore lacks good Vietnamese eateries, and NamNam managed to fill a gap in the market at the right time.
