Ladyironchef is hiring for 2019.
New year, new you. New resolutions, new job. Be a part of our family and be paid to eat and travel!
Our office has a few tables to fill and we are looking for new writers and videographers with fresh perspectives and sales persons who can bring more money to the company so that we have more fund to stock up on our alcohol cabinet.
Just to put it out there, we are no typical office. We don’t report to work at 9am in the morning each day, glue ourselves to our computers and slog it out till 6pm only to repeat the same draining cycle again and again until we eventually turn senile. Instead here at the Ladyironchef office, we sip wine in the afternoon, play games whenever we feel like it and work only when we need to. On other days when we’re not too busy ‘working-hard-for-a-living’ we go out for tastings where we eat, eat and eat some more.
Sounds like the sort of job you want to be doing? Read on to find out how you can join us!
EAT AND TRAVEL FOR A LIVING
Our team is pretty small at the moment but that’s the beauty of it. We are made up of a bunch of fun, supportive and tightly-knit individuals and we make it a conscious effort never to live by a hierarchy. Oh, we love eating and drinking, of course.
By the way, it helps if you can hold your liquor well.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United fans are preferred.
All fun and laughter aside, we uphold the Ladyironchef name with pride and professionalism remains at the forefront of everything we do.
A journey with us will be an enriching one, that we can assure you. Travelling in the name of work, exploring new cafes and restaurants, getting first dibs on menus and specials? It’s all part of the package.
JOB OPENINGS AT TEAM LIC
As a Full-time Writer, you will work together closely with Brad—the founder & Chief Editor of Ladyironchef—to curate content for Ladyironchef as well as our sister sites, Tidbits Mag and The Halal Mag.
In a nutshell, your job scope entails writing editorial/advertorial articles, shooting and editing editorial/advertorial videos, attending shoots and events, travelling abroad and a whole lot of eating and drinking.
You are required to pitch story ideas weekly, make food look sexy using a DSLR, write food reviews and attend events of which you will curate both editorial and advertorial content. On-the-job training will be provided for both photography and videography but a good foundation in writing is a key requirement.
*Interested parties please send at least 3 article samples in your application — food-related pieces are preferred.
Videography plays a key role in our line of work and most of all the content we produce and the places we cover require a video component. We produce anything from short editorial videos of cafe and hawker fare, food and travel vlogs as well as sophisticated advertorial video features for hotels and high-end restaurants.
As such, it is crucial that you know how to operate a DSLR as well as have a solid foundation in directing, lighting knowledge as well as post-editing—being proficient in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro (preferred) or Final Cut Pro is a must.
We’re looking for someone creative, passionate but above all else, somebody who’s bold. Bold in the way that you shoot, be it through experimenting with unconventional camera angles or new effects, and bold when it comes to taking on new challenges.
*Interested parties please send at least 2 video samples in your application.
If you are a student looking to gain some industry experience during your school holidays or as part of your school curriculum, our team will be more than happy to have you on board as well.
Your duties will essentially revolve around producing both video/article content and you will shadow our full-timers closely—allowing you to learn as much as you can and to produce a solid portfolio at the end of it all.
Additionally, our alcohol consumption in the office is too high. We need another colleague who will be in charge of bringing in sales to the company so that on top of sustaining the company, we can have beer in the office during the day.
As a Sales Exec., you will be responsible for making sales calls, pitching to clients and agencies, and bringing in campaigns. It will be a position with a basic salary and a handsome commission.
If you are a smooth talker and have experience in advertising sales, you are more than welcome! Even if you do not have a lot of experience in advertising sales, that’s fine; sales people learn fast, and we are willing to teach. Join us all the same!
WHERE THE DAILY GRIND / FUN HAPPENS
We are no corporate rats, and we dislike anything corporate-like. So expect nothing less than drinking games and heart-to-heart talks at 3pm, to wearing a tank top, shorts and slippers to the office.
Ladyironchef’s office is a fun space and we treat it like our second homes—it is a place we grind, play, Netflix, drink and at times, fall asleep. Dog lovers are preferred too because our resident puppy slash supervisor, Pudding, is always hyper and ready to play.
We are looking for people who meet the following criteria (for photographers, videographers & interns):
- Photography is a huge part of Ladyironchef and you must know how to handle a DSLR.
- You have to have a good command of both spoken and written English.
- Being able to film and edit videos is a must if you are applying to be a videographer, and is a huge bonus if you are applying to be a writer.
- 18 years old & above
This is a full-time position, and you must not have existing jobs because we require your full commitment. If you are still studying, the full-time position is not for you too. Please apply directly for the intern position.
When it boils down to personality, we’re looking for someone with a positive learning attitude and huge amounts of grit. You have to be open to learning and trying new things be it food or any other area that your job entails. Being fun and sociable is a major plus point too and while we do not restrict our job vacancies to only loud, charismatic personalities, it would help if you’re likeable.
Send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org, along with a short description of yourself (it is time to impress with your creativity) and your expected salary. Do include the position you are applying for in your email title, i.e. Full-Time Writer, Full-Time Videographer or Intern. If your Instagram account is not locked, we would love to see it too!
For Writers & Videographers:
Do share some of your representative articles and videos along with your CV. Please, we have no time to entertain emails without these necessary documents because ain’t nobody gonna know anything about you if you do not have a portfolio to share.
The representative articles can be in the form of a blog or sample works that you have written for other publications or even a brand new article on food/travel-related topics.
For Sales Executives:
Please share some of your past working experience and results as a sales person.
Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Irrelevant resumes are not preferred and multiple emails will be ignored.
Thank you and we look forward to having you join the Ladyironchef family!
