3 of the Finest Steak Restaurants in Hong Kong

Dry Aged Steak

Over at Hong Kong, they do their steaks really well. Now, trust us because we are so picky with our steaks and few have impressed us as much as these ones that we are about to share did.

Steakhouses in Hong Kong are really popular for many reasons – mean meat (but of course), sexy environment, impeccable service and knowledgeable wait staff, fantastic wines to be paired… The bankers at Hong Kong have a serious love affair with steaks, and it is also probably why standards are raised and kept so high and almost unattainable.

Here, we will share with you three of the most incredible steakhouses in Hong Kong that will leave you breathless. Tried and tested, and supremely impressed.

5 Lessons You Learn When Travelling With Your Family

Travelling with family

In the fast-paced world we live in that revolves around career, social media and the likes, quality time with our families becomes a rare commodity. The family vacations that we occasionally take at the end of the year then, become the tonic that the family might just need to bring back the laughter and joy that we may have lost through the years.

While travelling with family might be tricky, it can also be an enriching and fulfilling experience if we want it to be. Having returned from my most recent trip with my family, I was compelled to contemplate on some lessons I learned in the trip with the family.

ThaiExpress Introduces its First-ever Thai-Style Soft Shell Crab Lo Hei

ThaiExpress Thai Yusheng

The number one Thai casual dining chain restaurant in Singapore, ThaiExpress is a household name for many of us, and we grew up with the restaurant’s friendly and affordable fare.

For regulars, there is something to look forward to this Chinese New Year 2015 – ThaiExpress is introducing its first-ever Thai-Style Soft Shell Crab Lo Hei!

Lo Hei is one of the things that we always look forward to every Chinese New Year, and it is almost synonymous with the Chinese festival. Instead of the ubiquitous salmon yusheng, ThaiExpress‘s Thai-style Soft Shell Crab Lo Hei is inspired by one of its signature dishes – “Poo Phat Pong Kari” – which means Rice with Soft Shell Crab, Egg and Onion Curry. Yes, all ThaiExpress fans are excited already, we know.

ThaiExpress Lo Hei

Priced at S$22.80++, the Lo Hei comes with two Soft Shell Crabs, Shredded Red and Green Capsicums, White Radish, Carrots, Cucumber, Peanuts, Sesame Seeds, Rice Crackers, Lime and Green Mango and is drizzled with Mango Sauce. By the way, the rice crackers are homemade and baked by the team of chefs who are true to their Thai roots and want to pay homage to a traditional snack that they grew up eating.

The dish is good for 2 to 4 people to “Lo”, and there is a step-by-step guide to introduce you to the Thai-Style Lo Hei. Also, every order of the Soft Shell Crab Lo Hei will give you a customised ThaiExpress’s red packet.

ThaiExpress’s Thai-style Soft Shell Crab Lo Hei is available at all ThaiExpress outlets from 1st February to 5th March 2015, the 15th day of the Lunar New Year. With so many outlets across the island, there is no reason to give this a miss. Besides, how often do you get to toss soft shell crabs, right?

Bellygood by TungLok – Affordable Halal Buffet Catering for All Your Parties + Giveaway

Bellygood Catering

Every year, we have people asking us, “which caterer should we go to for Chinese New Year parties? I want someone reputable and reliable because it is a yearly dinner and I cannot disappoint my guests!”

Yes, we heard you, and we share the same concern. The last thing we want when we organise a party is to have the caterer screw up our food and let our guests go hungry. A hungry man is an angry man, and may we add that feeding lousy food to a hungry man is a monstrous thing to do.

Tunglok Catering

So we put our faith in Bellygood, TungLok’s catering arm, and know that our bellies will be very good and happy. The main reason why we love Bellygood is because of its affordability. Prices start from as low as S$10 to S$14 per person for a simple cocktail reception, whereas standard buffet packages range from only S$15 to S$20 per person.

More importantly, Bellygood Catering is halal certified. Our muslim friends will be able to enjoy the feast together with everyone. Need something in particular for your event? Bellygood will be more than happy to alter the menu and tailor-made it to your requirements.

Here’s sharing our early Lunar party and Bellygood Catering’s various Chinese New Year sets as well as Mini Party Sets that you can consider if you are still in search of a caterer for the upcoming parties.

We are also giving away Bellygood Caterer’s Party Set (worth S$288+ each) to 2 winners. Each party set can feed 8 to 10 guests, so you can invite your family and friends to celebrate Chinese New Year at your place this festive period. More details on how you can join the giveaway at the end of this post.

Australian Dairy Company: To-die-for Scrambled Eggs and Steamed Milk

Australian Dairy Co

Talk about Hong Kong-style breakfast and everyone thinks of Australian Dairy Company. Their heavenly scrambled eggs are to die for, and so are their steamed milk.

No lack of cha chaan teng options when you are in Hong Kong, and whichever street you are on, however you turn, there will definitely be a joint or two for you to grab a quick meal at. But why is Australian Dairy Company so popular, you may ask?

To be most honest, the menu is nothing special. There is nothing fanciful about the decor too – if even any to speak of – and it looks like just any other cha chaan teng. But the much-lauded scrambled eggs and steamed milk lived up to the hype.
